It would be nice to see Jita going low sec. That would be fun.

pocket of low sec in empire, how?
Also would make jita worse. Privateers/orphans/the usual suspects with carriers (we make fun of them...fact remains they have pilots cap capable). And to make this work jita would have ot be .3 or lower...which is the requirement of cap production. Don't know if you have spent time in 0.0, its not hard to tell when 10 carriers release thier little friends. I've seen ratting systems conjure the lag monster with jsut few carriers hitting ca's. Low local and all.
Well that and jita would move to sobaseki/other neighboring system. Jita was player chosen....a new choice would be made.

this, to be honest. i think you'd get more damage if a random day of the month was made nullsec day, during which jita is a free fire zone. i'd actually have a lot of fun with that one, but i think that its so illogical that ccp couldnt justify putting it in.
i do support more disruptive behaviour possibilities, i find the industrialist's life to be a little too risk free.

I don't know about low-sec, but I would like to see Jita being low-er sec. Mid sec, like Hek is for example.
The reason is not just to reduce lag, just logic. If suicide gangs are happening there all the time, then realistically how can you say it's a high security area?

Edited by: Gun Hog on 06/05/2011 06:18:25 Is there any point to this post other than griefing noobs at the station for loot and tears? Or is it that you want to turn Jita's function as a crossroads system for the purpose of camping the gates to get free stuff? _______________________________________________

nope...
they always put in the trade part to make it "legit". Sadly they don't know how manufacturing works. Indy's in minny space don't fly to jita for t1 production. They put up buy orders in minny space and collect every couple of days. Miners in backwater systems work cheaper lol. Also don't know that carebear aren't the biggest users of t2 (recons are dead sexy ships...not a top choice for level 4 though lol), its 0.0...who would have the jf's and midpoints networks to go anywhere they need to.
This also doesn't shut jita down...that would require ccp removing all of the space held by NC from the game entirely...NC gots lots of moons, and live by caldari space..which has jita.
they also don't know that if this happened, passive carebear isk indy doesn't die either. I'd hire blackfrog or others like them. My stuff gets to hek from say tuntarris...I sell it. The jf carrying my stuff gets popped...I get collateral. Either way...I still get paid. Funny thing is... s won't. JF's unless flown badly don't die. And you have to try to be extra bad for this to happen I am told lol.

1. Jita isn't particularly laggy. 2. Making it lowsec wouldn't fix the lag even if there was any, since the hub (and lag) would just move somewhere else. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

It would not solve the problem.
The market hub would just move to another system. It is natural for folks to want to do shopping in a convenient manner and a single hub or two or three serve the playerbase, merchant and buyer alike far more than spreading everything over thousands of systems. So if you changed Jita to be undesirable as a hub the hub will move but remain intact.

Except that lag, in this case, has really nothing to do with bandwidth and all to do with server capacity

ccp had a idea long time ago to create some sort of npc courier that can deliver and send inside the region. that will fix the lag. but im guessing there are some excellent reasons they did not

Edited by: Val''Dore on 07/05/2011 03:09:47 It isn't unprecedented that a low sec system would be surrounded by high sec. But doing that to Jita would be a waste.

Jita isn't laggy. Once upon a time it took 2 minutes to jump though the peremiter->jita gate, and one did not simply log into jita.

You're right, their internet speed has exactly everything to do with their static node network that is based on Python.

I think that might have more of a game design/slippery slope issue of having NPCs do stuff for you. If the courier mission system wasn't such a clickfest I'd use it a lot more.
Another quick fix would be to make every system adjacent to Jita part of the forge. A lot of times I'll end up going through Jita just to buy something or change a price.

All this will do is give griefers a place to harass industrial players until all the contracts and orders run out.
The moment you screw with Jita, every industrialist will simply move to another system and create the same thing there. Oh and on a side note you will have a large (not everytone but a sizable number) rash of people quiting because of this.
Trolls like this should be banned (see I can say stupid things that will never happen too)
