There are 2 anti "ninja" salvaging threads currently on the front page. I feel pro ninja salvaging threads are few and far between and well warranted, here's some reasons.
1. Ninja salvaging teaches you to use the in game contact mechanics. 2. Ninja salvaging teaches you the fundamentals of scanning. It's harder to scan missions than wormholes and other anomalies. 3. OTSS. It keeps people who belong in Stormwind City out of New Eden. 4. It is an excellent profession to partake in during a war dec, you will be able to buy your plex card w/o running missions/carebearing. 5. You can make money while training a long skill. 6. Less clicking than PI.
Thank you devs for the profession of salvaging. It produces both ISK and tears, and keeps the forums abuzz. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

Edited by: Lady Spank on 25/04/2011 18:57:34 I hope you aren't referring to my thread
Also, while you make good points, scanning mission runners is generally far far easier than scanning cosmic signatures.

I tried ninja salvaging just for kicks, turned out to be a lot more difficult than I first expected so I got a lot more respect for salvagers.
I always allowed ninja salvagers to salvage when they find me, some times I try a 50/50 scheme and even some times I pop the wrecks depending on being able to communicate with the salvager.
so, kudos to all salvagers out there, let them tears flow! |

There was an epic "pro" ninja salvager thread about 12-18 months ago. Every spleen in the Eve universe that needed venting eventually showed up with a comment or two. AFAIK the crash of the salvage market ended the ninja mystique and any real Isk to be had.
Now if you're talking stealing of loot as a part of "salvaging", that's just plain theft. It deserves all the scorn and ridicule it generates.

I'm all for ninja salvaging. Just like with can theft back in the day though, no free rides. Mark the wreck with ownership. Let the pew-pew begin.

Ninja salvaging ftw \:D/
+1 to what every other guy says about being able to shoot more mission-runners. ^^
(altough i believe the current game mechanics work fine) (it's just the greedy ppl that totally overreact) (because they don't understand that the game works this way!)
Anyway ... I wanna see more of exactly these kind of candy asses explode. :)

I just want to be able to scan down wrecks left behind.
Downside, supply would outdo demand very fast.

How's that? You can ninja skin in WoW too .. never read complaints about that!?
Anyway I don't see any problems with ninja salvaging and it's indeed a good practice for scanning. It always makes me smile when I see the occasionnal ninja salvager jump in and leave neat little containers behind!

You forgot one: 7. It lets mission-runners concentrate on making even more money, rather than losing out oodles of cash due to OCD. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

There is no ninja skinning in WoW, which is why there's no official complaints about it. Mobs can only be skinned if they've been looted first by the person who killed the mob (owner of the kill), the owner of the kill has to have removed the loot before a 3rd party is able to skin it.

Sometimes I get lonely in my missions just floating around out in space with no one else around.

I could count on one hand the number of times I've had people show up unexpectedly to salvage a mission I'm running, and have a couple of fingers and a thumb left over. Then again, I'll often ask in local if anybody wants the wrecks. On the two instances when somebody did drop in unannounced, the first guy died when he flew too close to the pleasure hub in Damsel in Distress just as it popped. The second guy showed up in Angels 'Ganza, and asked if I minded him salvaging. Told him to go ahead, and marked all the wrecks as abandoned. Hell, after that he even tried helping out by using his drones on the frigates. ------- Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience. |

Lol, that one is subjective. Theres a lot of people who swear by LP rushing but since I have started playing in '08 no one has taken the pepsi challenge and posted screens or a video of LP rushing, whereas mission *runners* have. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.
