Hey guys, I'm currently running level 2 missions in my destroyer. but i think the person who helped me fit my ship didn't really help me out that much. My shields are pathetic, I can barely run a mission w/o having to dock atleast twice. Help!

Things like explaining what you fly and your fit, and mods used might help.

Tell us which destroyer you fly, and perhaps what you have right now, and we will lend a hand.
P.S. - IF I remember right, destroyers can only barely do L2s, if at all. Take that with a grain of salt though.

You can probably do some L2's with a well-fitted destroyer, especially those that can be blitzed. That said...get a cruiser and faceroll them instead.

Excuse me ?
I was running lvl2 Missions in a 10mn AB rifter for the Gallente Federation Navy, until i noticed that running missions is on par with mining, playerskill-wise.
It's not about the ship, it's about the pilot.
Saying "You'll have it easier in a cruiser" is okay, but saying "you can barely do them in a destroyer" is plain wrong.
And no ... i wasn't doing courier-missions...
Emma, you'll gain much more if you dive into game mechanics a bit, instead of just asking ppl for fittings where you (obviously) don't really know what's going on or what they do for you.
Game mechanics ... ... like Resistances
Also it helps just to dive into the market window, opening up the ship-modules category and reading infos about how the modules work and what they do.
(Oh ... a Shield Power Relay ups my recharge rate but drops my capacitor-recharge-rate) (A Shield Booster boosts my shields but uses cap ... but i don't have to permarun it anyway)
(An Afterburner helps me gain speed fast) (Combined with the ShieldBooster i can GTFO ... gain range, boost shields, attack again) (Yes, that works. Pretty good for speedy ships, actually)
There's guides for anything out there, just use google. It'll help you greatly. I've spent the first two weeks of the game just reading all about how the game works, the mechanics, etc.
(Read this guide about kiting vs. orbiting) (It should help you too, unless you like sitting around like a brick instead)
I really believe you can figure it out yourself, because it's actually not that hard and the reward is much greater. Also ... you'll learn that most ppl actually give bad advises to noobs.
Else ... just look up a fit at BattleClinic and do what the sheep do. ^^

That's not quite true. Say, rather, that a cruiser can't brick a L2 (i.e. sit there with a passive tank or repper and trade blows), a significant amount of kiting and speed-tanking is required.
But, yeah, a cruiser or a BC is easy-mode for L2s, so it's probably preferable for a newer player. ---
