Being real...
I have found a common thread in the perception of many pilots in New Eden. When confronted with my questions, my commitment to non-violence, and my rejection of material wealth, I am often accused of not being real. Many capsuleer seem to think that I dwell in a fantasy land of some sort. Be that as it may, I question the reality status of any capsuleer. What makes the life of excessive violence, greed and avarice more real than choosing a way of peace. Each of us here in New Eden has chosen a way of conduct. Most misrepresent themselve by customizing their clones to look more like their misconceptions of "the ideal." Even self-titled names are often an unreal attempt to be something you are not. We can all say of one another, "O, you're one of those..."
Sub null space defnitely contains a different sort of community. Take the idiosyncrecies of the rest of space and multiply it a bit.
I have found a reasonable place to hide from danger where I can observe conversations and try and participate a little. The problem I am having is that when people figure out that I am unarmed, poor, and nothere to kill, they tend not to want to talk to me.
Sub null space has potential for the Disciples of Ston, but we would need to adjust our methods considerably. After being podded twice and returning, I have found a way to hide, somewhat out of site, or so I think. I have been in the same place for a couple hours without being discovered. We shall see what happens.

WE CAN ONLY BE SELF-CONSCIOUS WITH THE CONSCIOUSNESS WE CURRENTLY HAVE
I am spending the night in Taisy pondering what to do on day two of my treck into low sec space. 4 times today I have been podded; 4 sets of biomass; 4 times my consciousness shot through space back to the clone lab. How would you know if something was lost in the trip; maybe something small; some tiny crumb of your former identity, forever lost. How would you know. Self-consciousness guarentees nothing. I know only the self of now. This is the strangeness of clone death.
I think I have better identified the error of my ways. To cross the line from provocation to taunting is a line the Disciples of Ston must strive to know and not cross. The violence in sub null space is comprehensive. It does not spare the egg, so to speak. Each destruction of my ship was followed by the destruction of my capsule. Four corpses identified as "corpse of Ston Momaki" are somewhere in sub null space, likely in the hands of a capsuleer. I was promised that "intersting" things would be done with my corpses. Taunting was done with great expertise out there. In the last few hours, I have seen taunting performed with flair and style I wont soon forget. The line has been made more bold for me. LET ME FOREVER LOSE MY TASTE FOR TAUNTING. I hope to err on the side of caution. Provocation, yes. Taunting, no! But.. let the provocation be a true calling out to action, never done to entertain.
Long thought must be given before the Disciples venture into sub null space. The work there would be hard. Possible, but hard.

Corporate News I am still scouting Amarr space for a suitible starting point for the disciples. All is moot, of course if canot recruit an Amarrian as a Disciple. I am finding good infrastructure, but a lack of pilot population.
Donation: Ston has made a donation to the Disciples of Ston Endowment and wishes to thank the generous pilot who provided the funds

KILL RIGHTS I am going to rest most of the day today. Yesterday was exhausting. The self-control required in working in sub null space is very demanding. This has been good continued training for me.
Kill rights... Both Manwe and I have kill rights active for a period of time. This is such a contradiction of our values, yet it is pasted on our profile. The words "can kill," followed by the name of the person that Concord deems worthy of death is a sad state of affairs. We know that Concord is trying to establish a system of deterence in a lawless society, but I don't believe it works. Killing, a right? We need to think long and hard about this one. No disrespect to Concord, we need their presence here in clone space. However, I wish there was a "forgiveness option" on the kill rights tab of my legal profile.

Where are: 1. The Sisters of Eve. 2. The members of the Sanctuary? Where is: 1. Harna Durado, 2. Ebembald Belber, 3. Rotteras Asaniri, 4. Riserakko Isenairos, or 5. Osgalolf Osoksund According to official Sisters propaganda, you guys are constantly observing the gate. Where are you. There is no one from the sisters in this system. Only one other pilot has been in this system for the last 4 hours. Have you changed your mind about the gate? What is the real story?

Edaine has conducted a little research for me and has told me that while not 100% certain, he is pretty sure that the EVE gate cannot be reached. I have noticed a strange effect in the visible radiation from the gate. It appears as if the gate is receding from you as you attempt to approach it. Could this be an opposite sort of gravitational time dilation? I am setting course for Piekura and heading home.

Back Home in Piekura It has been a very fascinating two days. My journey into sub null space was a complete contrast to my journey to the EVE gate. Sub null space is the most violent place with some of the more dysfunctional individuals (I'm not name-calling, just describing.) Much healing is needed there. I do not yet know how the Disciples can establish effective work in those conditions.
The 0.3 space one travels through on the way to New Eden is some of the most peaceful travel in this universe. There are blood pirates there, but they are easy to avoid. Many of the systems are completely devoid of other pilots. It is quiet and almost completely non-violent. It is lonely, but not in a bad way. After the experience in -0.3 space, the journey to New Eden and back was good for me.
I met the Goners "again." I knew of them before the changing of all things. They are mostly non-violent and non-materialistic folk. It would be interesting for the Disciples of Ston and the Goner to find a way to interact. If any Goners read this, I would like to talk.
I met an interesting "Amarrian" who claims to be the guardian and keeper of the dead in New Eden. I think I met him a long, long time ago, but can't be sure.
I look forward to getting back to work in Piekura where even the insanity is more sane than what you find in Sub-Null.
One last thought, we may just choose a sub-null system and occasionally send a Disciple in on short term trips. That may be the way to do it.

CORPORATE NEWS
Madirmilire is the Amarr system we have chosen for our next location to expand our work. The problem? We need another disciple to do the work. Right now, we are spread thin. This is such a challenge. Who wants to be poor, unarmed, and unskilled? Not to many people. Who wants to use their intelligence and social skills like never before? Become a Disciple of Ston. Madirmilire is the best system we have found so far in Amarr space for the kind of work we do.
Please, please, please consider joining our organization.

INSECURITY AND THE EXPECTATION OF GENTLENESS
When someone who struggles with insecurity comes to expect gentleness from a consistent source, when that source fails to deliver, reaction happens. I almost always say please when requesting something. Tonight I made a demand of a pilot to answer a question. Others reacted to this demand with surprise. Apparently it was not OK for me to make a demand. People were not used to this tone from me. It is not my typical MO. Wow, this was interesting. This could be one of the hallmark observations in some time.
Something else reminded me of something that I observed in sub-null space...
REGRET, CONCERN AND RELIEF
I made the claim tonight that those who stay in sub-null space are different. (A generalization, no doubt.) Here is one way they are different. When they saw that I was not a "regular" this didn't stop violence against me, but I saw something that I have never seen in higher sec space. A Pilot mailed me after podding me to assure me that it was all in good fun. In particular after a conversation regarding my corpse. When I returned to the system and spoke of the humor of our interaction, they expressed in their banter a great relief that I did hold it against them. This heightened sensitivity doesn't seem to be present in higher sec space. I am not sure how many conclusions to draw from this. I need to process this a bit more.

MY IMPATIENCE
Raz had a poignant observation, and I believe there is truth in it. As a humanoid I share the weaknesses inherent to the condition. Was I impatient last night? àprobablyà The big question for my own self-knowledge is why?
I am tempted by impatience when I see a pilot teetering on the brink of self-discovery, refusing to fall on the side of truth and light but, instead retreating back into the shadows of self-deception. I do get impatient when that happens. It happened last night. Raz, if the guy I had ask the question to had answered as you did, imagine the relief he would have felt? But Alas, he retreated back into the shadows.
The circumstances involved the recurring issue of how each of us projects the persona that we want people to see. We float in a vat of ectoplasm, artificially sustained while controlling our space vessels, so we use avatars to project an appearance to our fellow pilots. We make up names for ourselves to hide our real first and last names. But what do we really look like when we dock at station, shower off the ectoplasm and relax in our own suite. Is it our avatar that represents us then? I think not. That was what I was trying to ferret out with the question.
How was I impatient? When the pilot would not answer, I said, ôAnswer the question, (name of pilot).ö I didnÆt say please. I didnÆt say, ôDonÆt be afraid to answer, IÆm here to help.ö I just said, ôanswer the question.ö I could feel the pilot on the brink of truth. Was I impatient? Wellà I think probably yes; at least Raz and another pilot perceived so and maybe thatÆs what counts. Raz, thanks for interacting. I appreciate it.

New People, good surprises
I encountered people in Piekur tonight who are new to me since I began my work here. One pilot who has vast experience in New Eden for many years gave to me a great gift; renewed hope that greed does not rule every heart in EVE. I have found this before, don't get me wrong, but each time I find it, it still refreshes my spirit.
I also found the need for forgiveness. People grieve their pasts, but sometimes have a hard time escaping them. People should have an opportunity to prove that they have changed.
No one shot at me tonight. A first.

CORPORATE NEWS
The Disciples of Ston Endowment with Phaser Inc. has generated its first income. I calculate that, at its current level, the endowment will fund office rental for our Piekura office only. I would like to see the endowment expanded eventually so that we may fund office rental in all four sovereignties.
Before we think that far, however, we need to recruit more Disciples. Right now, we would very much like an Amarrian to begin service in Madirmilire. We would sure appreciate any recommendations for qualified applicants.

WHAT? HUH? Sometimes, when I steal from pilots, I get this reaction. Most pilots don't care what happens to their wrecks and most thieves don't announce their thefts. Even the smallest of thefts, when announced, can stir the beast of possession within. However, other times, the reaction is just one of "what?" In this universe of insane wealth, it is often a foreign concept that someone would make a big deal out of such small things. The Disciples of Ston discover many things from small things.
Getting the ectoplasm out of my beard and mustache at the end of the day is a real pain, so I decided to shave tonight after work. Not much change in appearance, but easier to keep clean.
Good night all.

INTERESTING NAMES, INTERESTING STORIES? I encounter a lot of interesting characters in my work and some I never get to talk to. I only see their names. Others, I kind of get to know a little. I would like to talk about all the interesting names I come across, but that would take too long. I am not consciously leaving anyone out. I am just taking a sample of sorts. Volatile Past: This one seems self-evident. Rubberduck: I beleive this refers to a child's bath toy form ancient times General Chicagoland: This is something about an ancient earth fabeled city. Tipetwo Diabeetus: Something about a disease long ago cured. What are these stories? Another mystery to solve.
Finally: If you are out there... I WILL NEVER GIVE UP HOPE FOR YOU MY ACHURA BROTHER.

THE PARTS OF OURSELVES WE BRING Space and its anonymity temds to give us each permission to allow part of our nature make expression that would, under more restrictive social environments, be sequestered. It is this dynamic, that the Disciples of Ston wish to untilize to help people see more clearly who they really are. Self knowledge is the beginning of productive change in our lives, but the risks are real.
Sometimes, despair can set in. When we gain a better understanding of our darker sides, sometimes we believe that we cannot change. Worse, we may begin to embrace that darkness and let it grow until all else is subsumed.
To my fellow pilots; let this not happen. Hold out hope for the better parts of your character to be brought forth. No one is asking you to be like me or to join the Disciples if that is not your thing. I am asking you to be brave and endure the criticism that will come upon you if you exercise self-restraint, limit your violence, and seek to be generous.
In other words, start liking people and see what happens.
Thanks to the Pilots of Piekura today. You brought many things to the table and challenged my mind to think about many things. The Disciples of Ston bid you peace.

ONGOING ISSUES:
The Disciples of Ston have found few in New Eden who are interested in the sacrifice and self-denial required by this kind of work. Undaunted, we continue on. However, we do need to consider making some adjustments in our work. I am pondering the possibility of short term excursions in to selected systems to spread our work more broadly. Each disciple would have a base system where the majority of their work would be done, but would also expand from time to time into other systems.
I ahve also experimented with working at different times. I have noticed some turnover in Piekura and also new "faces" at different times.
We have not given up hope of getting and Amarrian disciple to join the ranks, but we can't just wait around until it happens.

DEFINING OUR GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
I find it very sad that many caps define all their long term goals and short term objectives in terms af materila acquisition and violent achievements.
The Disciples define their long term goal as changing people's attitudes so that they become less violent and less materialistic.
Our short term abjectives involve helping caps recognize their own negative instincts.
It is hard, but rewarding work. |

CAPSULEERS AND TRUST
With your leave, I would like to split a few definitional hairs tonight. I want to draw out the difference between the ability to trust and the ability to entrust.
There is a prevailing philosophy in New Eden that the capsuleer must learn to trust others to get ahead in this universe. Because of this philosophical assumption, trust has been defined always in connection with the individual's "best interests."
Capsuleers trust each other in combat, mining, trading situations, etc. All these having to do with the gaining of wealth or assisting one another against an enemy or just killing for sport. In all these cases, trust is defined as a SHARING OF POWER or resources. Real trust is never learned. In fact, it has been so redefined that we can't even use the word accurately anymore.
What the capsuleer has not learned to do is to "entrust." Entrusting is not the sharing of power but the yielding of power. Because the Disciples of Ston have a minimalist approach to equipment and skills, from time to time, we have to ask other capsuleers to dispose of large quantities of weapons we may find. This involves securing a simple promise, then entrusting the task to another. The power is yielded up, not shared. From time to time we give gifts of ISK to people with a violent history asking only that they use it for peaceful purposes.
The TRUST exercised here requires little risk because nothinng is truly given up or let go. true truting or entrusting isn't about the certainty we have that other will act in our best interest, but giving up that interest if but for a few moments. Entrusting, involves letting go; somethinng capsuleers continue to find so hard.

DIVERSITY IN THE DISCIPLES OF STON Tonight I was reminded that if the Disciples are to grow, we must embrace a measure of diversity, individuality, and varied personality within the general framework of the Disciple's work.
It was good to see Dawn Aranu back at work again tonight for the Disciples. It is rare that I get the enjoyment of working together with another Disciple. She provided a unique angle and her own kind of provocation to individuals in the system. She is able to get responses from people and in ways that I cannot.
While I am writing, I am preparing to get killed so I have to go and focus on that right now. More later.

I'm back. I am in a most interesting exchange right now. I ran across one of those Pilot vs Pilot invitation cans that one frequently finds in space. Pilots kill for sport and needlessly provoke one another into an endless cycle of meaningless destruction.
Here is how it is done in case you don't know. A can is placed in space and filled with either something valueless for the willing or valuable for the hesitant. You take it, then the owner can legally kill you.
What I do... I flip the can, blue it if it is valuable and advertise it as available. Otherwise I try to raise the warning to others. Sometimes I take the can and let the owner kill me to absorb the violence intended for others.Always, We try to talk the person out of that lifestyle. Tonight the person just would not converse and kept resetting the can. So, back and forth we go. I might end up dead in the process.

Now in a calmer mood, I have a couple more questions for you, Ston. Did it ever occur to you to try to verify what these so-called sources were saying about me? Did you stop to ask them even one question about what they were saying? You are good at asking questions and questioning the truth of what people say, why not here? Do you really distrust me that much? You broke your own rules again and this time on "one of your own." Your reference to "it" was demeaning and insulting. If I am to give you one benefit of the doubt, it would be that what you do is mind bending work, because you are dealing with the some of the worst characteristic you find in people. But, what possible gain/prosperity would I get from this Corp? We have no income. All the ISK for operation comes from me. I wish you would have taken one second to reflect before you jumped to a very wrong conclusion about me. I think you owe me an apology at the very least. I am a bit surprised that you were so easily outwitted and caught unnerved. Let me suggest that when you start feeling tired, quite before you lose your edge.
Wait, I don't expect an apology. I EXPECT A PUBLIC APOLOGY.
