Looks like we all got sold either to the Russians or the Goonies.
Sorry but your open letter, while I like the lag idea, I worry when you can sign onto goonfleets mumble to have your say. No offence boys, but I do not trust goonfleet. I do not like your morals.
That is all I have to say.

Neither did they which is why they got rid of morals ages ago
Trust in CCP's ability to ignore the CSM entirely and sanction them when they start holding their breath to get their way ..

Where you like a month ago when all this was announced and Chairman LMAO lead the glorious cultural revolution? And why not use the existing voice comm infrastructure of the single largest English speaking, sov holding alliance in the game? -- Did you know there's an alliance who's name you're not allowed to say, or website you're not allowed to link? |

Edited by: Leeroy McJenkins on 11/04/2011 19:07:18 Confirming that the CSM is powerless and the only reason we won it is to provoke responses from members of the carebear community who are too stupid to realize this is not the end of EVE as they know it.

Actually given the choice between Mittens and the way CCp has been treating the game lately, I'm starting to lean in the direction of Mittens. At least he still seems to like the game. --Vel

Protip: CSM has absolutely. zero. input. on what CCP is going to do.
Lately, they have been crediting things to the CSM, so they can create buzz in traditional media about how "groundbreaking" they are or to drum up support to push voting numbers up. Nothing of value has been brought to the game from the CSM, its there to so CCP can pat themselves on the back.
If you are really scared of goons will do on the CSM, check out the first few CSMs that had plenty of goons and 0.0 powerblocs. See how much of a difference that made on the game?
...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

CSM's been a joke since the very start.
They've more or less said they can't really do anything or change anything CCP doesn't want to. Sure they can let them know their views and push for things, but when it comes down to it the CSM is just a way for CCP to say "players have input" while still blindly doing what they want to do anyway.

CSM is a joke.
Now do I remember correctly that it was created as a response to the moongoo out of nothing that was ignored by CCP for 2 years?

So you worry about being able to sign onto goon mumble to converse with a united CSM6 about issues that affect you, as opposed to all the unified community meets that previous CSM's had right off the bat?

Edited by: Maplestone on 11/04/2011 20:11:47 Time dialation is certainly an interesting idea, but I wouldn't expect the computational complexity of battles to scale nice and linearly as the number of participants increases. The subroutine that breaks the back of the servers is likely going to be the one that has the largest O, probably O(N^2). So as the number of participants on a grid increases past the server's capacity, the time dialation is going to get very large, very fast.
Still, it would at least offer hope for a graceful crash.

I don't trust the Goons either tbh however Mittwhateverhescalled seems to know the score. Both about the CSM's real (lack of) power and the state of EVE. Time will tell if he can actually make a difference or this is the most elaborate troll of all time. There are two sides to the EVE community; those that scream for change and those that scream against it. Often they are the same person. |

I like what theyre doing... what did they do to the BoB alliance? They invaded it and then disbanded it. Like I said in another thread, its life imitating art lol the lols will be many when the goons disband ccp

CSM was created after T20 as a watchdog group to go to Iceland and make sure CCP is staying honest. CCP were touting them for a while on the forums, propping up the joke with talk like "T20 wont happen again, you will have the CSM and the IA guys"
It was all bull**** and impossible and turned into a crappy money wasting PR job live suggestions forum shortly thereafter
Knowing where it came from makes it all the more the joke that it actually is lol

Given that in the letter they themselves point out:
Quote: 1. CCP is under no obligation to interact with the CSM outside of the strict confines of the CCP/CSM Summits.
2. CCP chooses to implement CSM-approved proposals at their discretion only; there is no explicit power behind any player-initiated ælegislation' approved by the CSM.
lol yes, this is a HUGELY significant group

Well it looks like CSM6 is gonna be all about nullsec blobwars, which makes it relevant only to a minority of the current player population. Granted, blobfights need a serious fix and good luck to the Goons with that one, but the new CSM agenda would now appear to be irrelevant for the majority of pod pilots.
