CNN is reporting a protest in Afghanistan in response to some whack-job pastor in Florida who held some sort of mock trial and burned a quoran, quran, koran, or whatever the hell it is called.
So what did they do? They killed a bunch of UN people. WAY TO GO!
All this over a couple of works of fiction. It's sad, actually.

Good, eventually civilized people will get sick of islamonuts and demand an outright ban on mythologies that preach violence for outsiders. ♥

or kill everyone in some sort of holy war, which is more feasible than the ban. ---

Now that sounds a bit too much like conspiracy theory for my taste. The point is that people kill each other over books and what they tell them to do. What if those books were written to say that it is not only okay, but it is expected of you to have consensual sex with everyone you meet? Would people kill everyone else because someone refused to get laid by someone you don't like?
That may sound stupid and a bit extreme but when it comes down to it, these people are doing exactly that. Killing others because the words in a book tell them to.
Actually, when I think about it, that wouldn't be too bad. Maybe I'll write a book about how you are supposed to worship the bodies of the opposite sex, or hell, even the same sex if that's what you are into. Then I could become a prophet and tell people what to do.

The irony here is that the book tells them this sort of thing is wrong and should not be done. These people are no more islamic than me.

Look, the issue is not about burning a book. Well, in this case it kind of is but I am not a book burner. The point is that people get so fanatical about what is written in a book that by some numb nuts deciding to burn one, it justifies murdering a lot of people that had nothing to do with it.
And by the way, the Talmud is just as successful a work of fiction as any of the other religious texts.
If I am going to live my life by a set of rules given to me by a fictional character, I would make up my own idea of a deity. Preferably one that doesn't put restrictions on what I can or can not eat on any given day and doesn't tell me to kill people who don't think like me, or require me to chant a verse facing a certain direction 4 time a day. Oh, and my deity would never threaten to send you to an everlasting painful existence if you don't take a bath in special water.
LET'S STOP KILLING EACH OTHER OVER IDEALS and just start trying to be the best people we can be. What's so frigging hard about that?
