So, after being accused of running the huge Bot-Banning Festival of 2012 as a stunt just before Fanfest, Sreegs says:
Quote:Back before Fanfest last year we had a group assembled called the EVE Security Task Force. That group was tasked with performing actions like the one recently taken against botters. As a matter of fact that group took action the day prior to Fanfest and continued to do so on a twice-monthly or more basis for many many months. The process is designed that way because I don't believe that security is something you unwrap once every 2 months and pat yourself on the back about. What I said a year ago about the subject remains true today in that I believe it to be a continued process. This will be a slow burn and it will be regular. I do need to add to that the fact that these things were turned off for a period of time. As you are all aware the company has gone through a lot of changes in the recent months. Because of this there was a period of time where nobody had responsibility for handling the technology responsible for nuking botters. As of now there is a formal team on the EVE project devoted entirely to security, of which I am the product owner which is a fancy word for manager. This means that we've now thrown the switch again and turned on the catching bad guys machine because we own it and we don't like cheaters.
Since then, CCP has introduced 35k ore holds on exhumers with 32k EHP, and completely gone AWOL on the bot hunting, resulting in crap like this:
http://www.ipwnjoo.co.uk/images/woobots.jpg
So, what gives? Is someone at CCP thinking that all of those identically named retrievers that have been reported time after time after time are being run by a single person who is actively sitting at the keyboard, or is it that the "EVE Security Task Force" has ****** off for tea and biscuits?
People are pissing in the sandbox again. You pretty much took away the player-run means of preventing this, while simultaneously walking away from the responsibility yourselves.
As history has shown us, this doesn't end well. |

So bot mining, plus increased ore holds, plus increased effective HP equals? Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must undergo the fatigues of supporting it. |

Yeah this is pretty bad, but i believe they have some great plan behind all of this.
I just can't think of what the **** must go on in their minds, so let's just hope the next expansion changes things again ...
If CCP thinks they could do this, because they'll get all the bots anyway ... ... holy ****, that would be bad ... Inappropriate signature removed. Spitfire |

Why wait for an expansion? Just investigate and ban the bots that have been reported over and over and over again. |

Yes, but considering the last big banwave there'll always be much more bots than players can report. It's a war we can't win by that way only. Inappropriate signature removed. Spitfire |

I don't know where you're pulling your information from but a look at something as recent as the latest CSM meeting minutes will show that nobody's gone awol on anything. If you earnestly care about the issue you should realize that threads such as this, even if made with good intentions while being factually inaccurate, do absolutely nothing to further your cause. If that image is genuine and you are indeed concerned then the bot reporting system is how it gets dealt with. Dramatic threads filled with false accusations are not. We don't do banwaves. We never have in Security Team. Bots are banned daily. "Sreegs has juuust edged out Soundwave as my favourite dev." - Meita Way 2012 |

Where's your evidence? Because, and I hate to break it to you, that screenshot isn't evidence. CCP has come out on multiple occasions in favor of multiboxing and programs that are designed to expedite multiboxing, ie ISBoxer. From what I can tell, you have provided zero evidence other than conjecture and ignorance. If this is all you've provided to CCP as irrefutable proof of these accounts being bots, it's no wonder they've ignored you time and time and time again. |

If that dude in the screenshot is using a multiboxer software like ISBoxer he is technically not a bot. He just manually docks when his ore holds are full, undock, warp to bm, target ice and turn on ice miners. One might say he is a dream customer for CCP....
But holy crap, that's a lot of retrievers |
