Anyone else filling in their religeous belief choice in the UK census as Amarrian? Sure there are rules about enough people stating the same belief and it becomes a recognised religion? The theory is that you need 10,000 people and it worked for the Jedis who got 390000 people officially recorded as such in 2001. Time to up the profile of our favorite evil space goers

I've heard most of these people spend their time trolling forums of electronic spaceship games, but this as yet is unconfirmed

Sadly not but it does have its own census code now apparently
Wiki
The Office of National Statistics revealed the total figure in a press release entitled "390,000 Jedis there are" and I was one of them :)

Fortunately it's not likely.
I say fortunately, as Tesco etc don't seem to stock 425mm autocannons or warp scrambler IIs so I can't partake of my favourite passtime IRL :(

Doing that was funny last time - it felt a little subversive. But it's just a bit too 90's these days.

I believe that you can be anything you wish to be, so if someone wants to be a Jedi Knight why not let them be just that.
After all religion is just a set of Morals and beliefs and I'm sure if all the Major reconized religions from way back then had a George Lucas then there would have been movies made and mechandise sold.
But as they didn't they waited until there was movie technology available and made the movies then and also sold merchandise :P
If someone believes strongly enough in a thing that others don't then it wrong of others to tell them to stop unless they're murdering puppies and stuff.
Something to ponder.
Note: My religion is the belief that all religions are the cause of all the wars and wrongs in the world so I have my own un-named one :)

The UK census is a waste of time and money. The questions all fall into two catagories: things that are none of their damn business (eg religion) and things they already know through other sources (council tax, income tax, benefit, etc).
I thought we were supposed to be cutting billions off the defecit, not spending hundreds of millions to increase it.

There is a lot of data available through other sources, but it would be more expensive to link it all together and mine it for the information you need.

Edited by: Aamrr on 16/03/2011 23:25:19 If you seriously think that the beliefs of any mainstream religion are any more credible than the Force, I think you need to reexamine what you're actually saying.
To take Christianity as an example, it states that:
- A benevolent consciousness exists in all of us which is responsible for the creation of humanity.
- This consciousness exerts its influence on our lives, molding and shaping our destinies.
- We can communicate with this consciousness by opening our hearts and trusting in it.
- At one point, this consciousness incarnated itself, creating a man born of a virgin destined to return peace and order.
Wait, sorry, that was the Force again. My mistake. I forgot:
- How the earth was created in a week and is in fact only 7000 years old.
- How we're all descended from one man who married his own rib.
- How they were corrupted by eating an apple after talking to a snake.
- How they then lived for 900 years in an era before medicine.
And that's just the first book!
If 72% of British citizens can fill in the little bubble next to "Christian," I think the Jedis are justified in writing in their perspective.

Remember hearing a story awhile back where some guy sued a bank for discriminating against his Jedi religion by kicking him out for wearing a long hood and acting all mysterious.
