Hi folks. I think I'm ready to do an attribute remap on a Minmatar combat pilot. Any advice would be very welcome.

I guess I just want to know if anyone has things they would have done different with their remaps if they had known then what they know now.

Get EveMon decide what kind of character you want to be (just be yourself) and then give just a small attribute boost to those areas that you will have to train more to attain the skills you need. Do not just stack one or two attribs, because then if you need to train anything else you will be hurtin.

Do you have two remaps left? Do an int/mem remap, train your int/mem skills, then remap per/will in six months or so and do all your guns, ships, etc stuff.
If you have one remap left and/or don't want to bother with extensive planning I personally recommend a roughly even split between Perception and Intelligence, with probably an extra point or two of lean toward perception. It's what I use because I've already trained the skills I really want and am now in the "whatever takes your fancy" stage. ---

What sort of person are you? Can you really stick happily to a plan for a year. I had three remaps. I did a remap to optimize one line of training, but as usual after a few months got distracted by something completely different (as usual). I realised I needed flexibility not the fastest possible training for some skills and slowest for others - so I set all attributes the same with my second remap and I am quite happy. I would probably stop playing if I had a crippled set of attributes with a year to wait before a remap.
Role play it maybe. Decide who your character is. Work out a set of attributes where all are OK some perhaps a LITTLE better than others, set them up with a remap and stick with it. Proud to be a CareBear |

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. I think that I will hold off for a while and just spend some Isk on implants to improve a couple of my attributes.

What I typically like to do for remaps is take away points from all other attributes and then max out (as much as I can) Perception and Intelligence. I find this to be quite optimal for training up "combat"/ship related skills (which tend to be very Perception heavy) and "support"/"core" related skills (which have Intelligence as a primary or secondary attribute). _______________________

For the first year or two of your EVE life, this is probably the best option, unless you're willing to focus heavily on one pair of attributes for a year, then another pair (e.g., I currently remapped to per/will, but then again, I've also got all the support skills I need for quite a while).

I'd say definitely don't stack your attributes. Nothing is less fun than realizing you've specced for drones only then having to spend twice as long to train to fly a ship. I would say put together a 1 year skillplan, don't plan anything to 5 unless another skill requires it. You want a well rounded skill plan that includes ships, t2 fittings (you should be able to import EFT loadouts into evemon,) weapons, recommended certs, any leadership social trade or corp skills you might cross-train, infomorph psychology, thermodynamics, etc. Odds are some of the minor short skills won't get any attributes put towards them and you may end up training some skills you hadn't planned on. That's okay, but don't remap in a way that makes it harder for you to be as rounded as you might want.
