Hi I'm flying a Brutix but can't seem to tank most level 3 missions. All my armor compensation skills are at 4, and my repair systems skill is at 4. My fit is as follows:
High Slots: 7X Medium Ion Blaster II
Mid Slots: 10MN MWD I 3X Cap Recharger II
Low Slots: Medium Armor Repairer II Energized Thermic Membrane II Energized Magnetic Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Inertia Stabalizer II I just can't seem to understand where I'm going wrong, as it seems only 4-5 guristas enemies will break the tank every time

Edited by: Daneel Trevize on 14/03/2011 12:18:22 2 obvious things would be swap the i-stab with a DC2, and try a meta4 mwd, or just ab to ease tanking and cap.
And active hardeners. And rails. |

It's the brutix, that is a tier 1 BC with blasters.
Try a different ship and a different weapon system. ------------------------------------- I like to fly around and shoot stuff.

drop the Intertia Stab, it blows your signature, thus making you more vulnerable. i'd also drop the EANM, and replace it with a Magnetic Field Stab.
then your blasters are beginning to shine. maybe even drop a CapRecharger for a Web. but seriosly, for a l3 missioning boat you want to have a look at the Railgun Brutix, or better the Myrmidon. |

440 tank with 420dps, there just isn't enough room for a gank with tank and vice versa. Is even cap stable actually but you're better off with myrm for PvE though.

Usually fitting 2x rat specific t2 HARDENERS and 1 energized adaptive nano membrane (t2 or faction) is enough for resistance. The other lows should be for the repairer and a damage mod.

Well done.
OP, have a look at this. Resists are for the average Gallente mission but replace depending on whom you're fighting. Instead of wasting all your slots on being cap stable just use one for a cap booster, it takes a bit of effort to get used to but once you got it down you'll love it that way. This opens up slots for other useful stuff.

Keep in mind that using your MWD will make your ship have the sig radius of a huge shield tank buffer battleship so you don't mitigate any damage. I'd recommend using an AB.

If you really want to use a MWD (and if not, don't use blasters), strongly consider a cap booster instead of the rechargers (and presumably CCCs).

Two rat-specific hardeners and a MAR should be enough, leaving two slots for damage mods.
Of course if armor tanking is driving you crazy you could always shield gank fit it....

If you are having problems with this tank, try a dual mar setup and use cap booster to fuel it I don't have eft atm. But 2xMar, 2xHardeners,mfs for lows, mwd,med cap booster,2xWebs for meds, 7xelectrons for highs and 2xaux nano pumps, 1collision acc for rigs should fit. ------------------------------------------- Die Amarr Die!!! |

I'm not a gallente expert, but this is what i'd do:
Ditch the Brutix, go with a double or tripple rep'd Myrmidon. Ditch the blasters, use railguns and drones.
just my oponion.

The Myrmidon has no turret bonuses whatsoever, and has an amount repaired bonus.
So for a mission Myrm fit, you would want to use medium Autocannons, probably, not rails, so that you can more easily achieve some level of cap stability.
And you sure as hell won't ever need to triple-repair for level 3 missions. It has the low slots that you can fit a hell of a tank with just active hardeners and a single repper (you can put turret buffs in there if you want and shield tank it as well).
Honestly, it sounds like OP is trained into hybrids heavily and not drones, meaning that the Myrm is a horrible choice for him at the moment. It's a wonderful, flexible, beautiful boat, but flexibility means nothing if your skills are focused. ---

Some interesting advice - here's a few issues - I have 0 skills for railguns. I could start training now but obviously to get medium T2 rails I'd have to train small railgun spec up first. Reason I have the MWD is to get in close and lay waste. I also should have mentioned that there are 3 cap recharger rigs, 15% each.
So far I reckon I ditch the Inertia Stab and the EANM and fit two more rat specific platings

Try some Meta 3 or 4 rails first if you have the isk to get use to using them. The Armour hardeners should also be a pretty decent increase in resists. |

On the test server there was a guy who shield tanked his myrmidon - shield power relays on the bottom, 3 extenders +2 invulns in the middle and shield recharge rigs.
I was shooting him with battleship with blasters and I burned my guns before I could bring him down.
You have to remember that myrmidon turrets are secondary - your primary damage comes from the drones (2 large, 2meds, 1 small IIRC).
So installing autocannons or artillery, is just an added dps to your drones. (projectiles do not use cap)
Anyway , using armor repairers you have to worry about cap, and even though it's bonused for armor rep you still cannot achieve 1000 omni tank that you get from passive recharge shield tanking fit.
P.S. shield power relays severely gimp your cap generation. You can exchange some of them with power diagnostic units so you don't run out of cap for your invulnerability fields.
