So, I was talking to this guy, they're one of the people at Sarum Family?
And he turns out to be wearing this like, skin tight t-shirt.
And like, you could totally see his muscles and stuff. It was odd.
So, I was thinking, that it must be a big new fashion trend thing, so maybe Imperial Men's Magazine is behind it or something.
Men's fashion is weird and strange.

I understand that this is odd. Because in the great Galactic Almanac you'll find under "unsexy" a picture of an Amarrian man.
I don't want to insult anybody, I just think that's their mindset. Body negecting, body rejecting as some sort of distraction from their true love to god or something like that.
That's why Amarr men usually wear totally unsexy robes that cover their body and head in black clothes that do not let some skin shine through but maybe the chin under his hood. If you are lucky. Or not.
I do admit that I'm with them at this point - it is not the body that counts. The spirit and mind of a human is the thing that is carrying his beauty. But to fight the body like they do is just putting enough emphasis on this that they get the contrary effect of what they truly desire to message.
You ask yourself: what do they wear under that robe?! And I'm quite certain their denial of body is denying them to wear anything but that robe. That's for sure.
I pay 10k isk for a photograph that is showing us what is beneath that robe. Just for curiosity.
But I said I'm like them - I really don't give a damn. Clothes have to be practical. They have to give you some protection from the surrounding environment and threats of battle. It has to be cheap and affordable. And above that, I don't give a damn about vanity.
True vanity of clothes come from their practical aspect. Like the mindset that is shining from it like the spirit of a human is shining over his decaying body into eternity. -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS

Edited by: Alica Wildfire on 25/02/2011 18:45:11 Ah, I have enough of taking off clothes. I was two times pregnant with an Amarrian clone-vat abortion and am mother of a third child which survived the Crusaders. Funny that it did.
But when they have to deal with fatherhood men just kick in the warpdrive and are gone. Orą unreachable. Orą have important things to do. Orą whatever.
Just when the kid get's eighteen they take them by the shoulder and show them "how a real man should be like" and take them out to the next Angel Brothel where they pay some girls to rub off his virginity. Real man - bah.
You can stick them where the sun doesn't shine. I have a family to protect and care and I have job in the TLF. To make both working is a hell of a job. I'm lucky that some of my Minmatar capsuleer sisters offered help with the baby and that I'm part of a working community.
Tight T-Shirts. Pffft. Girls and beer. You are so unfocused on the things that are important. You can't imagine how few I'm interested in that sh*t. I want to have a world where my little son doesn't have to fear that he will put under shackles suddenly. A world where he can sustain a family. Where he can stand up for his rights without getting shot for it at the next wall.
A world without "genetic superiors" that tell him that everything is about birth and that deeds do not count. I'm fighting for freedom. And this doesn't include ****ty wet T-shirt contests or spoiled drug parties and Next Top Models and I really give a **** about that.
Give me a man with a vision. And one that makes his soul naked for me. That's attractive. I would **** his conscious out of him. But not for a ****ing T-Shirt that's for sure. -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS

Wein, Weib und Gesang ist nicht Bier, Mann und Gebrnll.
Yeah, that's the question. I'll try to translate this Sebiestor saying:
Wine, women and singing is not beer, men and bellow.
And tight T-shirts are not attractive. Nothing against t-shirts, I do wear a belly tank top myself under my armored vest to soften the rough leather on my skin. But that's just practical. And I left my belly open for the sweat when I'm working under deck with my men, preparing for undock. It's icky when it's wet and the vest storing heat. Somewhere there has to be cooling.
What a fuzz about t-shirts. I really don't understand. We have a booty to sit on, breasts to feed children, legs to walk and run, arms to work and handle weapons for defense. And while this all is without importance we as warriors have to keep our weapons systems ready. I'm fit, running every day, doing some exercise to keep in competition out on the battlefield.
The body does not count. It is a tool. And you should not handle badly that tool for it's the thing that makes your ideas come true. If I want to have sex, I take a man but I didn't met some that would suit my needs.
A modern girl has to watch quality. I got tackled by a guy in a bar recently with some lame opening and I asked him: "Can you hammer a twelve inch nail with your **** with one strike through an oak plank?" He stood for a moment and drooled. "A modern girl has to watch quality." And I turned away from him. -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS

But that's the different. We Matari have no "style", we have no fashion - besides that some of us have this tick about sunglasses. We wear practical stuff. This is something we have faintly in common with Caldari, who usually like to wear uniform and military canvas. But while they like uniform themselves to make "all equal" and indeed have a certain fashion of style the majority of us Matari does not. Fashion is just neo-capitalistic nonsense.
It does not mean that we are all totally without vain. I have my little vain-attacks myself, I think that is something every human somehow has to deal with. But I put it into the right perspective.
There is always something that is practical in a situation. And the majority of us will start wearing that. Is this vain? No, it's a matter of survival. There is no fashion here. Just need.
And if you call this barbaric ethics of my kin "some kind of fashion and uniform" you still do not understand us. We do not believe in uniformism. To make everybody equal is not the thing of us Matari. We ARE equal by birth. And we have all equal value as humans. Yes. But everybody has to find his true spiritual IT inside. And to truly live ourselves, to unfold our true personality, our true capacity is the live-long task we are working on.
Fashion divides. Uniform takes personality. But we unite in personality. We form strong hearts, hearts of warriors, of artists, of tinkers, of thinkers to form a together, form a community. We stand shoulder to shoulder, each for himself a great man. Together a community that will outshine the dark ages of slavery, the history of oppression.
Fashion serves vain. And it serves capitalism and consume. What is good this month and would be lasting for years is outdated by fashion. So they throw it away to buy new one, waste totally working stuff. Does the Rifter outdate? Ha! Fashion is for the weak mind, for those who think that they have to buy status symbols to count in society. And a society that needs this sick stuff is no society that will survive history. You can not build something great on something so weak that the individual is bowing on each fart of fashion. Fashion is a method of status symbol. Status symbols enforce a hierarchical structure in society. Hierarchical structures build Empires, build power structures, build oppressors and oppressed. We are not like that. And some day the rest of the universe will understand what a community like us is.
I give a damn on fashion. I hate uniform. They are both enemies of freedom. -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS

You flatter yourself (selves) an awful, awful lot, pilot. Again.
Quote: We ARE equal by birth. And we have all equal value as humans.
Erm. Tattoos, anyone?
Quote: Fashion is a method of status symbol. Status symbols enforce a hierarchical structure in society. Hierarchical structures build Empires, build power structures, build oppressors and oppressed.
Yes....
Quote: We are not like that.
*choke* *cough*
Quote: ... our beauty is because we live our dream. We are what we are. We become what we want. This is real beauty. And the beauty of becoming a true self is something that is the only beauty that over lasts history and never fades. The beauty of achievement. The beauty of a great heart and spirit. The beauty of a real community. And finally the unmatchable beauty of living in freedom.
Pilot, I start to think that your most striking feature is the way you extend the way you are (or wish you were) to include the rest of the Matari.
Quote: Destroy fashion. Destroy uniform. Freude!
Ah, the battle-cry of the self-conscious rebel.
Careful. If this catches on, you might start a new fashion. Assuming you didn't catch it from somebody else, yourself, that is.

There's no discernible substance to the claims she was replying to. The only appropriate response is ridicule. I mean, look at your own damn profile image. you're wearing a sleeveless synthetic leather jacket, for starters. Not an impractical garmnet, but it's a long way from being PURELY functional. Your hair's been shaved and cut different lengths and styled, not to mention being dyed a non-natural colour. I'm prepared to bet that you wear a bra, and I can SEE the blush you had on in that image and your eyebrows look way too neat for you not to have plucked them.
About the only one of those things that could be considered genuinely practical and entirely devoid of any nods whatsoever to fashion would be if it was a sports bra and you were wearing it to avoid discomfort during physical exertion.
I don't know where the hell your post came from, but it shoots straight past "delusion" and into strange, unexplored territories beyond that are totally unrelated to the reality the rest of us are familiar with. -

That's right. It's practical and I wear it with pride. It's the vest I had two years ago and I saw no need to throw it away for some fashion **** that would fall apart after a month. It's doing fine. It's rugged.
Quote: Your hair's been shaved and cut different lengths and styled,
I had no time for a ****in' coiffeur. I have scissors and a razor. So what? And such short hair has not the problems with felt and lice, which are problems that sporadicly come up on my ships. Many men on close quarters under battle conditions, ya know?
Quote: not to mention being dyed a non-natural colour.
They are not dyed. I hate the color of my hair but I can live with it.
Quote: I'm prepared to bet that you wear a bra,
Under my plain tank-top, yes. I do. There is anyway not too much to show off for me. I'm not the milk-cow kinda girl. And what else?!
Quote: and I can SEE the blush you had on in that image
ąwhich I'm not wearing, neither any lipstick. I have blackened my eyes with smear from my machinery, yes.
Quote: and your eyebrows look way too neat for you not to have plucked them.
Icky. I ****in' not plugging anything on my body. Word for that.
Quote: About the only one of those things that could be considered genuinely practical and entirely devoid of any nods whatsoever to fashion would be if it was a sports bra and you were wearing it to avoid discomfort during physical exertion.
If you wear an armored vest and you are a female you will like the comfort of a sports bra. Can tell ya.

Someone asked if it was Gallente influence or something. it's true, they go in for glass corsets and anti-grav hotpants and stuffs, but I don't think that was what was going on here.
Cos like, it was the head of the Sarum Family internal security service. So a dude who would like, have talked to the Empress a lot, when she wasn't the Empress ofc, she'd be talking to her own people a lot more now, cos she's no longer a Sarum as such, you know? Anyway!
So I was thinking it must be in one of the men's magazines, but of course I don't read those. All full of typical stuffs that boys like, I guess. Young women displaying their genetics and whatnot.

Edited by: Alica Wildfire on 28/02/2011 13:39:19 Stitcher. There is a reason for the "Self-Destruct" button when you are in a pod. You can spare the world a lot of work with that. Just send me a Charon full of your frozen corpses soon, when you're done with that, will you? I don't know if Frigg will take them or send them right back to Odin, well, she's picky. To take every second does not mean that she likes to take the halve Charon with your corpses. Maybe she thinks: "Hey, I give this to Odin and what's coming next can only be better." And Odin might think: "Well, this ***** really thinks that I take quantity for quality?"
Pretty please with cherry on top. Charon.
And, ą dead Fedo toupeT?
Alica giggles.
Torpedo, that one was a wrecking hit where he had no resistances. Do you have a log about the damage done? Should be awesome. I wonder if that dead Fedo counts as a corpse and if Frigg would prefer to take the toupeT and send the body to Odin instead vice versa. Picking the better one.

Who says Amarrian blokes isn't sexy? They's got tight, hard bums and commanding eyes that look like they can read what you're thinking. Is kind of creepy but completely wicked at the same time. Someday I's gonna get me an Amarrian butler, that would be so ace. He'd be wearing skin tight clothes all over.
