I know of many cars much younger (some just 1-2 years old), that will struggle to reach 1/10th of the performance of that one. ---

Edited by: Tank CEO on 22/02/2011 20:41:29 I don't have any dyno stats yet. I didn't want to treat her badly being such low mileage. Recently though, I did some big upgrades because of some misfortune. I was replacing the downpipes on the car to 3" Divorced Split DP SS. Well, the bolts on both turbos broke despite how much PB blaster we sprayed, and they were stuck inside the turbine housing which required three options: drill them out, replace turbine housings, or upgrade turbos. To reach the turbos, you have to remove motor or lower the engine 4"; however, taking the motor out is easier, and it's required if I wanted to upgrade to bigger turbos... So, I decided to upgrade because I was going to in the long run anywas. Was bad timing, but I had money saved and I worked my ass off to pay for what I didn't have.
So: Heres the mods. I am just copy and pasting from that twinturbo.net website because I document what I do to the car and when.
April 30th. 2008 - 26.3k original miles + Bought 3rd 300zx TT
May 24th. 2008 - 28.5k miles + NGK Platinum Spark Plugs + 60k Maintenance + EGR Removal + Koyo Racing Radiator + Underdrive Racing Pulley + Water Pulley
May 31st. 2008 - 29k miles + JWT Pop Charger
September 1st. 2008 - 32.1k miles + 300 Degree Rail + Power Enterprise 850cc Injectors + SBC-ID Blitz Boost Controller + Ztuner Tune + Stillen Sidemount Intercoolers
January 2011 - 43k miles
+ SZ Sports Clutch + SZ Light Weight Flywheel + SZ 3" 5-Bolt Newest Design SS Downpipes + SZ 3" to 2.5" Test Pipes SS Resonated + SZ JWT 530bb Turbo's + SZ SS Oil Lines @ Stock 9 Psi
Feb. 25, 2011 (This Friday)
+ SZ Large Resonated 2.5" SS H-Pipe, Oval Tip Cat-back + Selin Dual Intake Pop Chargers
March 4th, 2011 (Next Friday)
+ Dyno with Test/Run Fine Tune for 16 psi - Hoping for around 450+ whp at least.

in the 1/4 mile or in the Nurbring?
in the 1/4 mile both cars you said might be able to beat the lady Z, but I'm not seeing them beating the nissan on the Nurbring. in fact, both of them might crash and burn on the first curves.

Nice. She looks sweet, and yes ill say for her age. That seam is one weird place for a seam though.
I see your ramping up the BHP but dont seem concerned with brakes and suspension ? i know they are gonna be good on a stock standard twin turbo anything, but when your ramping BHP to double stock almost - welll 150% then, arnt they gonna buuuuuuuuurn on the twisties ?
Im a Golf VR6 man myself - a piffling 179BHP to play with but i like it.

depends on how much BHP he managed to get. guess that's what the dyno will be for.
it is right to worry about upgrading brakes and suspension tho. ---

Well, I grew up in the 1980's as a youngster, and the 1966 Chevelle SS396 left quite an impression on me, so that is what I chose for my ride after I was all grown up with a job.

Yeah, I'm too old to understand the youngins' obsession with "jap" cars (no matter what asian country they are from) ;)
I'll finish my ride someday, life kinda gets in the way of that stuff sometimes...

they tend to be highly modifiable from stock, plus extremely reliable engines that can handle a power increase for relatively few losses on said reliability and huuuuuuuuuuuuge aftermarket parts is what makes them preferable.
oh and they corner much better too. ---

Edited by: Tank CEO on 24/02/2011 03:08:47 Whatever the car pushes as far as BHP on the dyno, I plan to keep it at 375-400 whp after the fine tune is done with to keep it reliable. I just want it to be up to date with other cars such as the 370z which is 350 hp to the crank.. I am able to control how fast the car is with the boost controller.
The headlight isn't broken, and there are no cracks. It's just the angle of the camera I guess.. If you are talking about the Front Facia, well those are a bit hard to line up perfectly from factory because it had to come off in order to upgrade the stock intercoolers to stillen.
And, I wouldn't buy a mustang if my life depended on it. I don't want to start a flame war on foreign vs american, but frankly, the Japs got americans beat as far as design and interior goes. Plus, I love hearing my turbos when they spool.
Upgraded Brakes is actually my next step when I get some money. These past few months were unexpected upgrades. The suspension on the 300zx's TT's are actually quiet good and I don't race on the track so I don't really have a need to upgrade the suspension right now.

That car is designed to break the law and should be banned or highly regulated to such an extent that if you so much as had one violation of the moving kind, you should not only be barred from having it, but if caught with it, sent to prison just for owning one.
In fact such decree by law should not even have to happen with a trial by jury, but by accusation to go on a federal record, and you should have to pass a background check to buy not only the car, but fuel and parts for it.
But what do you need turbochargers for anyway? The normally aspirated engine will get you to work and get the job of being a car done. To think you need or to want such things must mean that you have a problem with your manhood or some issues with your self-esteem. Turbo chargers on cars should be banned and so should excessive engine sizes and there should be no turbos or compressors/blowers either.
Only police cars should be able to go past the posted speed limits.

It is about performance.
Same goes for muscle car vs pocket rockets. You can go fast in big car with big engine. Or you can go fast in small car because it is light and can accelerate fast. We, the people, get to choose.

Most Likely Ztuner Big Brake kit. Hes my mechanic (the best, and only one I trust) so whatever he says, I do. Also, If I was to do wheels in which I plan to in the future possibly, I would pick these:

Nope, i am not a mechanic. I try to learn everything I possibly can when I work with my with mechanic. But the fact remains that I don't have the tools, nor a lift to complete the work. Harry, which is his name, knows the Z's like the back of his hand...
Have you seen the engine bay of a 300zx Twin turbo? You have to remove the engine just to get to the turbos. Here, I'll show you.
My engine bay
This isn't a project car, it has 45k original miles on it. I leave such things to the best so the car will last. I would have loved to know how to do all the stuff my mechanic does.. That would save me a ton of money in the past since I've owned 3 Z's.
Alias, I only know the basics such as oil, spark plugs, boost leak check, exhaust installation, brakes, intake, ect.. You know, common problems I can figure out and reach, and I can use my set of tools with.

I had a 2 seater Nissan 300ZX TT exported from Japan to the UK where I live. It was a mortgage on wheels but I loved it. The zeds have real street presence. More so than say current Mercedes or BMW's sports cars. I had one for 2 1/2 years. One of the turbo popped when I was being heavy on the thottle and because I had a boost controller fitted. In hindsight trying to squeeze extra psi from stock turbos is not a good idea. In the end I sold it for parts. I did not want to sell it in poor condition.
The standard brakes on the zed are its weakest point. I would very much recommend a brake upgrade. I upgraded the headlights to HID lights to compensate for the diffusion caused by the sloped glass fronts.
With rear wheel drive sports cars you need to have a healthy amount of fear for the beasts. I hope your Nissan 300ZX brings you much enjoyment. Mine did for me

Thats a crossover bar. It's for fuel or air or both.
I was bored last night so I made this video. It was set at stock boost @ 9psi until I have her fine tuned.
Video
The turbos/engine will handle the amount of increased PSI so long as you have the upgraded cooling, oil, exhaust so the turbos can breathe, and the right amount of air/fuel mixture.
