Edited by: Jaicomo on 16/02/2011 06:25:55 Calling all miners and manufacturers, the mundane event known as Hulkageddon is here once again to reak havoc on the infrastructure of New Eden. Info about the event can be found here: http://hulkageddon4.machine9.net/ As a miner, I propose to form a revolt to this event. All non-mining and hauling ships should cease production. No more combat ships should be produced or their prices should be spiked beyond belief.
I would like to hear other ideas and comments...

Good luck with that. Stop producing ships, that will hurt them... since the Hulkageddoners have already stocked up. I suggest that next year you plan and start organizing about 3 months ahead, not a few days.

Hurray, more Civil Disobedience.... Thoreau and Gandhi would be proud !
With Trit prices rising steadly over the last month to 3.00 ISK/unit again, it's absolutely time to park the Hulks and get out on those picket lines !

I will not stop making stuff the more that gets popped the more I can sell ammo and ships so as a manufacturer I see no problem with hulkaggedon.
I don't have any love for goons but I willing to take advantage of there child like need to destory things just to cause emotional pain to another human being.

As another miner and manufacturer I suggest you join an alliance, move to 0.0 and mine there. Or park your hulk, get into your mission ship (you can fly one, I hope) and spend the week running missions. Or perhaps even, for those with the skills, find grav sites to mine out.
As for being able to manipulate the market: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You really should run the numbers first to have an idea of the amounts of materials flowing through Jita alone on a daily basis.

I'm am going to display the ultimate in hulkageddon-revolt and flat out anarchy in hi-sec. When I see someone thinking of ganking my retriever, I'm going to call them a poopy-head.
Then I'll warp out while they're laughing.
That'll fix'em!

Of course now, with the latest joyous news of huge numbers of ships recently destroyed --- what's a miner to do?
Risk going out for vast quantities of TRIT as the prices spike?
or
Sit in station and moan that HULKAGEDDON is stealing his profits?
Decisions, decisions.
Let the carnage begin. -------------------------------------------------------- This space For Rent. |

Jaicomo - don't get mad, get even! CCP like the event so there is nothing you can do in terms of preventing it. I suggest you get involved with the opposing event which will happen at the same time as Hulkageddon. See http://griefer-geddon.blogspot.com/ for more info

Edited by: Kerak Chevaliers on 16/02/2011 15:37:05 Ugh ... once more, with feeling.
The economy has no place for sentiment. If there are people seeding good prices for minerals it would be thoroughly illogical for miners to stop offloading their product. So, guess which kind of miner I am.
The effect of this event will be negligible at a macro-economic level. It goes on for a week. One week. Boo-hoo. If you can't find anything to do other than suck on roids for this week, then I honest-to-god pity you (and despise you, but only a little.)
As for myself, looks like it's a good time to cash in on those Covetor blueprints I had lying around ... and if any of you whingers were anything other than unimaginative you'd be contemplating how to opportunistically gain at the misfortune of the ******s who take their Hulk out during the event.

i think that a reverse hulkageddon should be put in place.
who's willing to put up prizes to be given to the person who has the most frozen corpses of Helicity Bosun and alts at the end of the year?
the effect, everyone tries to get a cheap advantage over them and try to get that pod. i'd like to see her try to raise funds to do a hulkageddon next year when all her alts and jump clones are station camped by gank tempests

He's got a point. why stop what carebears do? why throw down our income for those pesky pirats?
Here's my idea...one that my corp WILL be doing.
we've bought all the large smartbombs up in our region. We will be reselling them at 1000x the normal cost all this week. plans for buying and re-selling all race-destoyers are in the works also, as these are heavly used to gank.
Carebears fight with what weapons carebears have...and that's money. We can't stop hulkageddon, but we plan on hurting them in the pocket book

Here's the rub, if there are some hulkageddon participants that think they are going to manipulate the market for the selling of hulks or ore, what's to stop them from then selling the other ships that you all are not not making.
Not that I think market manipulation is going to be really a big factor...and this "revolt" will not stop or hurt the gankers enough to matter. Why? because if you are sitting on a boat load of ships that sudden hit record highs would you refuse to sell them over principle or would you unload them as fast as you can? |

I would think that the most active participants in hulkageddon build most of their equipment themselves or know someone who does. As for named mods, many gankers probably have stockpiles laid around anyway.

As opposed to when you churn out millions of ships
You wont affect anything by stopping production as most minerals last time i checked came from reprocessing the crap in missions

I plan to just keep mining and selling minerals; I'm insured, and replacement barges are no huge impact compared to my daily profit. If my system DOES fill up with gankers, I'm just gonna move operations for a while. They can't lock down EVERY belt, station, and stargate in the area.
I figure it's just a matter of avoiding them until boredom outweighs greed, and they go off back to running missions.

Well aside from the fact that the gankers stock up on ships long before this event started, your idea is about as stupid as you.
No one ganks, then buys new stuff, then does it again.
They gank, dock, board already fitted ship, repeat...
