Is there a limit on a character as to how much skills can one have or can you have all the skills to lvl5 eventually?

There is no hard limit. So if you can have all skills at lvl5 depends on how many skills and therefore skillpoints will be added to the game.

Theres a limit on trial accounts that they cant train certain skills such as Exhumers or Capital ship skills. Other than that you can train every skill to max although it isnt actually possible to do since it would take more time than the game has actually been released for even if you started on day one. The character with the most skillpoints atm is Dr Caymus -----------------------

Don't worry, you can train mining skills now and then train other stuff when you decide you want a change, it's just time that's the real factor, but you have implants and respecs to help there. Plenty of us start of doing one thing then progress into doing other things. ------------------------------------------------ Quafe is people! |

There's no limit, but there is a disadvantage: if you build up 5 million points for mining, and then 7 million for PVP, every time you die in PVP you have to refresh a 12-million clone, which costs more than 7-million clone. Not much more, but still, if you die 50 times a day it'll add up.

Edited by: Mal Lokrano on 09/02/2011 00:49:06 I once put every published skill to level 5 in an Evemon skill plan. It's estimated completion date was sometime around 2032. Granted it was with the older attribute system, but nonetheless, you will never have to worry about hitting a cap. Especially since new skills are added often for new features. _____ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. Always ascertain the vintage of the first two.

Advice I wish I'd been given when I started,
Don't train to mine from the getgo, train to do missions instead.
It gives you better options down the road. It'll get your core skills sorted quicker. It'll give you skills that'll let you move into pvp should you choose to. It'll also give you skills to move into mining should you choose to.
Mining skills, once you have them, are little use to anything but mining.
That's just me though --
Nothing is worthless, you may have gotten it for free but it still has an inherent value

Yeah, Dr Caymus does indeed have a lot of skill points. 315 skills trained, for a total of 162,968,632 skill points.
However, Tripoli might not have as many skill points as Dr Caymus but he does have more skills trained. 387 skills trained, for a total of 132,537,739 skill points.

This is true, mining can make you some money but running missions not only brings in the cash quicker but gets you standing for such things as R&D agents, putting up a POS later, etc. You can still train mining skills, but having standing with a corp or two so you get perfect refining at their stations really helps. ------------------------------------------------ Quafe is people! |

There are also Agent's that give out Mining missions. Doing those while training up Mining skills will still gain Corporation standing for tax free refining or reprocessing.
