These days most ppl fly drakes cause they are simply overpowered and almost impossible to kill.
If any one has a Gallente ship fit that can destroy a Drake one on one at range let me know.
Infact any BC ship that can apart from a drake itself would be great to intrested on peoples views.

Why do you want to play to the Drake's strength?

Warp to somewhere obvious and hope they follow you and land within scramble range.
Otherwise, just warp out? You'll never beat a Drake at range, but it's not like they have you scrambled or anything.

One on one vs drake at at range?Did you try to warp? If you're in 24 km range you can close up and kill it with pretty much any other tier 2 BC. |

...tho triple rep myrm and slaved/plated harbi+hurri can beat hamdrake but it depends on how good the pilots are
Can you link a fit for a trip rep myrm =]!

Landing on 0, harby is probably best against drake with the EM damage.
At range though, drake will be applying dps before you reach him, and then you still got that buffer.

The solution to killing any ship that you believe is overpowered is to engage it with three of your friends while all of you fly ships that cost one-tenth the price. You might look at what four Meta2-fit Ruptures or Thoraxes cost, and what they can do in comparison to a single Tech2-fit drake. If you insist on fighting a Drake 1v1 at range, then you might consider a Harbinger with Scorch M, or a Hurricane with artillery; you can always warp out if he's beating you on tank, if you keep the distance up on him.

A completely ordinary harbinger will melt one decently. Just get into optimal and shoot. The two are dead even so it will come down to who is better skilled and knows their ship better. I am assuming a HAM drake of course, if we are talking HM drake then laugh at his fail sauciness. Here's the fit:

All things being equal, a HAM Drake should beat that harb above ^. It will be pretty close, and the drake will finish the fight in hull. The Harb's main advantage here comes with slaves. |

I would be very interested to see your analysis on that. Care to tell me your methods, no matter how unsophisticated? I'm always eager to learn, and the fact that you seem so confident even when the comparison is that close leaves me intrigued.

Trial and error. The Drake can brawl it out with the best of them (non slaved).
Also OP is a massive troll btw, why do people still take this **** seriously? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's only confusion here on your part because for most fights all things are not equal. And since the introduction of Drakes, most Drake pilots have been more terribler than average. |

Drake dies - because everyone and their mother flys it.
You would be surprised that very few ppl can field proper drake nowdays even tho there is like 30k flying around at any point.
Plus - there is a great difference in PvE and PvP drake, and HAM Windrake requires perfect skills and 1% PG implant to be fit. Taking all of this into account - you will see that drake is far from being invincible.

HML fits can be knocked out with other tier 2 BCs if you can tackle them. The Drake tanks more and the others can gank more.
For HAM fits, slaved armored BCs do fairly well

The most effective gang fit I have seen for drakes (In 15-30 man gangs) is the nano/web/HML drake with an Arazu. They scatter tot he four winds, get to range and have the arazu hold point at 80km, occasionaly darting in and out to point others. With proper pilots this is actually quite effective vs other BC and even BS gangs that aren't prepared for it.
I think its an excellent fit. Having said that 1v1 I DESTROY those drakes in a double web harbinger...this is eve there are counters for everything....even if sometimes that counter is GET MOAR BLOB!

A lot of peoples answers to a lot of the issues on these forums is "get into a 2 bill isk ship with 1 bill in implants and then get 30 friends to do the same" A lot of corps/alliances in eve can and do do that, and its effective.
However I believe the general reply to the OP seems to be "There are many other BCs that can defeat the Drake...try a few of these" Drakes are solid ships, so are Canes, Harbs and Myrms...

Brutix Can:
7x Heavy Ion IIs with VOID
MWD Scram II Large Shield Extender II Kinetic Hardener II
3x Magstab II 1x Tracking Enhancer II 1x DC II
Rigs as you like, Drones as you like. Hammerheads or ECM to stop his damage for a bit.
the heated hardener can land you at Drake style EHP and 700 odd DPS will win that race.

It comes down to who is better skilled and note that the above fit doesn't require any implants. The standard HAM drake requires a PG implant. Slap a 3% cpu implant on that harb and you can fit a second EANM instead of the ANP. You also have some additional options like a slave set. Another thing you can't ignore is damage reduction from speed. A harb simply orbiting said drake at 5km with the mwd off will not take full damage while the drake will.

Edited by: Kepakh on 07/02/2011 18:44:49 To answer your question: "No, it can't" as drake can be fitted to be unlkillable by single BC but then it won't kill you either.

Any BC can take out a drake if its fitted to take out a drake.
In the OP, you did not say if you were taking out a PvP drake or a PvE drake. That leads me to believe you are trolling as solo PvP drakes are so very few and far between.
So please be specific on what you mean by "take out a drake" and maybe people can start to formulate an honest answer.

Try 2-3 medium neuts on an armour tanked cane. Or mix it up a bit with some jammers.
