Edited by: Zyn Ares on 27/01/2011 01:45:12 I recently got back into Eve. Decided to take the trader route, well technically continue on the trader route as my toon had the trading skills trained but I never went too far into it.
Guides really didn't help so I barreled through it on my own figuring it out as I went. With about 250 mil capital from previous miner and mission runner toon back in the day I got started.
Started out with intra-regional trading on modules until about 800 mil total assets.
Switched over to station trading random crap until about 1 or 1.1 billion. Then moved over to 2 bil with mineral trading.
Two weeks of trading and I'm at 2 bil. Now what do i do?
My mechanics of trading don't really deal with game mechanics (as I don't know all that much about the many facets of eve) it has more to do with daytrading guides I used to read. Objects in motion tend to stay in motion, following the bounce, stuff like that.
I like the eve universe, trading is boring at times and a bit lonely but most of the people I meet are pretty chill and keep me going but...the accrual of isk is not my only goal. I want to build a business for fun and profit.
In order to get to that point of establishing a business, and i don't mean putting out those IPOs and such. I just don't trust the players of eve all that much and don't want to convince people to trust me.
I'v looked into booster trade, setting up the labs and such, seem like its not very common though for people to use boosters.
I've looked into manufacturing from the standpoint of getting the minerals my self and buying them and in all the bpos ive looked at so far I would make more money selling the minerals than selling the finished product.
Sorry for the wall of text. Running low on energy at school right now.
So can anyone point me in the direction to increase my capital through business ideas? I'm not looking for trade secrets, just an area to research.
Thanks in Advance, -Zyn
(posting with an alt so messages asking me to invest in your super profitable corp fund will go unanswered)

Something you might want to consider is manufacturing with your minerals instead of trading and selling at the hubs further from Jita. Or, see about getting into 0.0 trading. Some corps/alliances will do non-aggression treaties if you keep them supplied in 0.0 without a huge markup. Granted, obviously its more risk, so you can probably ask around and find out what the going rates are and so forth. Get yourself into Rorq, and it will make 0.0 trading much easier and safer, provided you've established said treaties of course and can setup a cyno network of alts with a second account. Just some thoughts, maybe full of ****...but meh...all i got. Good luck.

Definitely have thought about the 0.0 trading. Never knew I could set up a treaties like that. Would be pretty awesome. Thanks.
and I am pushing myself into other markets but its an uphill battle.
Thanks for the tips.

2 bil is nothing, especially to a trader. Get yourself over the hundred-billion isk mark, because you haven't even begun to explore the real potential in trading yet.

I was going to say something similar to this. Although 100b is a bit high. I would say get yourself around 15-20b and your on to something. After that the skies the limit.
