1@13 mil, i'm running out of money here guys, why not just let me have 1 share:p By the way I have several questions. 1. How will you protect against piracy since you have such established routes? 2. What kind of advertising will be done? 3. How many people have so far used the service? 4. (more of a comment) I love the idea for this, it reminds me of the real world postal service.

1. The travel "window" is several hours to many hours, and gives the pilot some room to protect himself from traps. And we are grading clients. 2. On forums, in local chat, with containers. 3. I would think just around 15. Publicity is an uphill struggle.

No, that would be a ripoff. We don't need the isk, and dividends will be modest. Which is also why the auction is only 48 hours. ----------------------- "Signatures" chatroom / LLSE Stock Market |

Edited by: Turzyx on 21/01/2011 11:01:51 These share prices are crazy.
If you bought 10 shares for 150 mil total, the pilots would need to take 410 mil A DAY for you to break even on your investment IN A YEAR. That's with 100% dividend paid.
I notice with the routes you have, there are only 5 pilots; which means 82 mil each per day in rewards? I don't know how lucrative courier contracts are, but that seems an insane amount to me.

I doubt any of the bidders are expecting this to a profitable investment but rather treating it as a chance to have a little slice of a potentially interesting project.

We're bidding for shares which can be sold on and have value. Also I would say this is a pretty respectable corp so I doubt they'll just collapse after a couple months.

Well you may have already answered this but since I don't like most people on the forums I try not to read all the postings.
What is the isk for? It seems like someone maybe have said that this business requires no starting capital, so why sell shares? Is it JUST so people can own a piece of something?

Mostly, I think, though some capital is always required. Buy the freighters, have liquid isk for collaterals... ect. Also if it becomes a big business, shares grow in value and pay out dividend... its just like buying a stock in the real world, most companies like google or microsoft probably didn't need the money when they created shares, but it generates publicity and people like to "own" parts of stuff.
Also, 10 shares @ 15.1

Pilots fly for free the first 5 days. After that the company pays them a bonus, and only after that do the pilots begin to add money to the company.
So we need a little isk for that bonus. We are hoping to get a lot more pilots. But as said before, there is no reason to sell more shares beyond that. ----------------------- "Signatures" chatroom / LLSE Stock Market |

You are right Thur, as cista2 already stated, every business requires some amount of capital to start, whether it be for paying the pilots for the first week as is the case here, or purchasing equipment there is generally some need as a base. However, primarily this is to establish a cash reserve for unforseen expenses and to be able to pay new pilots as we hire them. All pilots however are using their own ships to haul right now as it is not feasible to have multiple corp freighters being given out to pilots when they are 3/4 of a billion in the case of the obelisk, and doubly so for a fledgling business such as this. Hope this clarifies some things for both you and AC155 ---------------------------- Outta my way... |

depends on how you look at it, they wont be briging in isk but they will be hauling stuff and creating a new flight, essentially expanding our service

Hmm... doesn't Ave Volta having a share in Universal Railways create a conflict of interest? Granted the shareholders in Universal Railways will have limited to zero power to influence the company, but it does seem rather odd that you would let a direct competitor have a direct stake in your company.
I mean it's like Ford saying, "Here Toyota, have some shares".
Meh. Just my 2 ISK as I continue to watch the bidding.
