It truly is a shame that such a good fighter as Zeal needs to resort to the log-off exploit to save his clone.
Truly a sad day.

logging off is no exploit and i doubt he would resort to it if ccp would finally fix the shipdestruction lag which prohibits the capsule from warping out while you "step out of the bush" or "light a fuse" or any of the other rather annoying but painfull game messages (especially if you spend x millions in implants). This way even a battleship can lock your capsule while you are a sitting duck waiting for some mysterious powers to allow you to manuver your escape pod. Happened to me in fountain aswell, no need to shed tears over it, just questioning if ccp maybe should starting to "fix" bugs instead of replying "it must be an isp problem or driver problem on your side of the fence" because it gets rather annoying to be buttered down with this excuses. oh and while you talk over sad days, i doubt they will end before ccp fixes convo/gang spams during combat, autolocking attempts, dronelag, convolag on gates and sessionchangelag at gates and last but not least "sensors still calibrating from warpinterference" lag. Unless all of those are supposed to be "regular" gamefeatures which apparently are now commonly used as a new fashion.
I agree with you, once thats all done the sad days might be over or atleast some of them.

I agree those are ALL game problems. That does not make it right for some players to exploit the game mechanics to get around them. When I lose a ship I attempt to warp out in my pod. If my pod gets killed and I lose implants so be it.
It is just a lame tactic IMHO. Besides he logged with 3/4 armor on his ship thinking I could not kill him with only 2 mega pulse and 6 heavy drones before his ship dissapeared. Had I not had a raven come in and torp him he would have saved both his ship and his pod.
We had a lot of respect for the ATUK pilots until this incident. Yea we lost ships but we fought with honor and none of us logged off to save our pods. None of us sat and smack talked in local whining when WE were outnumbered 10 to 1. Never heard us calling your guys *ussies because it was 10 to 1 in your favor like you guys do when we have you 10 to 1.
He was up 10 ships to 0 until I cap drained his geddon and the logout was just plain lame lame. It is a shame the guy with the most kills on the BOB kill board cant take a single loss with dignity.
You can attempt to rationalize it any way you like but it is wrong and you know it as well as I do.

exploit a gamemechanic to prevent a game problem to occure is wrong ? I think its choosing the smaller of 2 evils really. A pod unless locked by a fastlocking frig or battleship (both times specially designed to fast lock) is supposed to warp away -in a normal game environment, as it was before the current problems occured- gameproblems shift that situation to unplayability of this feature and even a normal frig or cruiser or even bs can lock you in time... I doubt thats intended ?

You killed him with 2 bs and no tacklers, so there was no realistic way you would have gotten his pod either way without smartbombs. Plus you do realise ppl get sometimes disconnected -not bringing it as an excuse here as only zeal can reply to that. It happened to me already 3 times, 2 times i was the person trying to kill and my tgt got away and 1 time in a fleetbattle where i was just munchied.... Knowing Zeal i can say he usually isnt a person to log to save his ship, what his losses / kilss and enemies he fought can pay credit for.

Zeal was alone down there, this dude moves normally also alone so he will not have outnumbered you for sure ;) Back to the point however he might have simply ctd'ed, you got your bs kill so what do you complain about ? Unless you were hoping that zeal would have problems getting away with his pod due to game problems so you could get it aswell ? Otherwise his pod would have escaped 2 battleships (the scenario you spun)....

i suggest if you want to find an answer to that you could have just convoed him and asked him. So far ive only seen accusations against him and trying to drag him in the mud while he so far can present friend and foe stating the opposite... Im confident if you want to make it a question of honor that zeal will agree to correct this in ingame fashion.

see he admitted to not logging to save his ship. You had 2 bs no smartbombs so impossible to get the pod ^^ your point ?

So Mindbender, content with your 15 minutes of fame? You're like that Loos chick that managed to tell the world Beckam cheated on his wife.
Zeal is one of the best PvP-ers in this game, period. He's famous for his skills, not for his gossip. You're just shouting something he did all over the forums, not because he wronged you or something, but because that is the only way you'll get attention.
Who cares he logged to safe his pod? Does that make him less feared in combat? Entire fleets dock and log when they see this one man army's name in local, and now you want your 15 minutes of fame by telling he logged himself?
And yes you now probably gonna whine how I'm a nobody myself, but you know what? I know that I'm not the greatest player in Eve. I know that hardly anyone ever heared of me. But the difference between you and me is that I'm not planning on changing that by throwing mud at the local heroes.
You're statement that logging to safe your pod is something you would NEVER do, is nothing then an attempt to appear superior to Zeal. Well my challenge to you is to face Zeal 1on1 (just look at the trail of kills he leaves on the map) and then not log yourself after he melts your ship. Who's superior then? Probably not the corpsicle...
Ofcourse this will never happen because Zeal got nothing to prove to you, and you will never face him on your own because he will certainly melt everything you can throw at him by your own.
You little attention-wh*re, why don't you go to Eve-I or something, perhaps they'll buy the exclusive rights for the interview...."The pilot who saw Zeal logging"

Well Rippey put up a nice little fight, and got a kill (or maybe more than one now, who knows). But I still have to say he needs more support.....Our pilots will never become Zeal MKII at this rate.
I have trainees screaming for targets here. Even I had to fly for miles and miles today to get a kill.....
