Edited by: Cliffy Byro on 11/01/2011 12:36:51 realy simple so you dont have to clutter up the server with jet cans (anti lag) and ease of use with fleet members
Right click on cargo icon or on your ship "Unlock Cargo/Lock Cargo" is in the menu
If your cargo is unlocked then people can PLACE things into your cargo but they cannot see what you have or take anything.
Your ship has to be within 2500m of the ship thats giving you stuff. and in order to place something into another ships hold both ships must be in the same fleet
The reason I have addd the lock / unlcok things is so people don't come along and put a load of drugs in your cargo without you noticing and you get blown up by the police.
Obviously we will still have jet cans etc but might actually be a more useful

Sounds like a decent plan, +1
Maybe only keep your cargo unlocked before a session change.
Also, maybe disable this feature for industrials - Miners would drool at the idea to just throw minerals into the hauler directly... ---

Yeah miners would get all moist at the thought but I think it would much slower than the current jet can system. The hauler has to go and move to the miners rather than just towing the cans in with a tractor beam or you need 1 hauler per mining barge. sure its a safer way to do it coz the can flippers cant get at the ore but its a much less efficient way to do it - risk vs reward kinda thing.
I think A ship without a pilot should always have its cargo locked to stop people just mining into it and having it targeted so nobody can steal it.

It's called an Orca's corp cargo hold.
It's in game, it works, it's a special type of ship. Look it up, train up for it, buy it, profit.

What they meant is being able to place material into the Orca's hold without jetting it into a can.

HURR HURR I know what an orca is you douchecanoe.
I wasn't intending this to be used for mining anyway, more useful for logistics like moving ammo and cap boosters between fleet members without the specific use of a can.
PS go troll in C+P you ****

That could have entertaining aspects to it. transfer contraband in to the players hold and let them move it to a different system for you without their knowledge. If customs detects it you have plausible denyability as there would be no record keeping of you putting it in their hold.

That's what the corp hanger on the Orca is. Unlike the regular cargohold, the corp hanger on an Orca (and in stations and cap-ships as well I suppose) is accessable to pretty much everyone in the corp to add/remove/move things from. I used an Orca in the corp like this while mining. We dumped our ore straight into the corp hanger (no jetcans) and the pilot moved it into his private cargobay to make room for more in the hanger. Rinse and repeat until both the regular cargo and the corp hanger is full and then we just unloaded at the station and started again. And range wasn't an issue; boosted strip miners with a little fleet co-ordination and maneuvering meant we could hit most of the belt without moving more than 2K from the Orca.
I took this idea as the OP is basically just asking for a corp hanger on more/all ships, if I understand him right (how far have I missed the point cliffy?).
TRIPLE EDIT: Spelling and grammar.
