That depends, how close are you again? Outside of 9km web range? My lasers track that very well thank you. You also 'might' manage to fly out of my scram range... then again... I move pretty fast myself. Get within my web range and your speed advantage is gone (and my tracking is no longer an issue). Stay outside it, and I track you just fine as well. Where is your advantage again?
My dear, have you ever heard of an afterburner? And while we talk of ranges, maybe you'd like to take a stab at hitting us while we're using artillery. All the speed and agility our ships are renowned for, coupled with a long reach and mighty strike.
Why yes, Yes I have. And my Tachyons (or their lower size equivalents) can reach out and touch someone just as easily as your artillery. The problem with your artillery though is tracking (although I admit my Beams suffer from this somewhat as well). And as I said before, I move pretty fast myself. When I am not in a sniper, I am in something more up close and personal. And fast as well. Perhaps not as fast as your scrap yards but fast enough to reduce your artillery to ineffectual lumps of rust strapped to your hulls, while my Beams do the job of freeing your souls from their corporeal enslavement (or if I am in a more personalized mood, my Pulse lasers).
Either way. One of us will be sent screaming to the 7 Hells, or the other sent singing to the Gates of Heaven. -

Come now, we both know matari scum is nothing but empty shells without souls or minds, they're going nowhere - save for the racks before I relieve them of their existence, maybe.
