Adversity, n; a condition marked by misfortune, calamity, or distress.
A new home, a new direction, a new thread. Still the same concept. We are a small, tight-knit group of pvpers specializing in you guessed it: small-gang warfare. Probably because we're so bad at internet spaceships that we don't recruit enough people to do anything else (wolololol).
Pretty much every other recruitment post out there will try and sell you the same old song and dance: "we are a laid back elite corporation x and we are looking for good times and pew pew." About half of the time this translates into "we suck really bad and only use risk-averse or metagaming fleet comps/we only gatecamp/we only blob," the other half of the time it translates into "we're so chill and laid back we don't care that we welp fleet after fleet of x due to our poor fits, FC'ing, and general PvP inexperience." So before we go any further, let me clarify what Adversity is NOT:
- - We are lighthearted and jovial, but NOT laid back. Laid back, in my opinion, equates to "couldn't care less." I'm sure you've all had them, at one point or another: laid back FC's that didn't care if they had a cohesive and sensible fleet comp, bringing basically whatever ships and fits he could get in fleet. Laid back FC's who order their fleet into definate slaughter, either because they don't the strength of capabilities of either their own fleet, or the hostile one. Risk-averse FC's who cower from anything other than certain and total victory, usually through vastly outclassing their opponents in terms of numbers, logi, or ECM. Laid back FC's don't pride on making themselves better, on being successful, or being known by your opponents as both fearsome and respectable. We are lighthearted, love to joke around and sling **** at each other and have a good time, but we never take a "laid back" approach to our fleets or the way the corp is run.
- - We are NOT constantly PvP'ing. The unfortunate fact of life, is that when you have a small group of people, you cannot have a fleet running every time you log in. If you want that, either learn to solo pvp (which is very welcome and highly encouraged in Adversity) or join a sov alliance. Even during the day however, when our activity is lowest, you typically can find at least 1 other person to be your wingman.
- - We do NOT win every fight. That happens when you take risks and fight outnumbered. We strive to improve our individual pilot skill, so we can win against even when the odds aren't in our favor; but it's an ever-ongoing process.
- - We are NOT here to hold your hand. You will be expected to be self-sufficient in your isk making and logistics. We have carrier pilots to help you move your ships into our home system if you need it, but you will be expected to bring them to designated jump-off points (don't expect us to buy your ships from Jita and fly them down for you).
Still reading? Outstanding. This is what Adversity is about, and what we are looking for.
- - We are largely mid-to-late USTZ. Activity is at it's highest around 0000-0600.
- - We do both nullsec roams and lowsec piracy' we go where the fights are.
- - We run specialized fleet comps; AF packs, nano BC's, Armor BS + triage; no "kitchen sink" fleets here.
- - We are based in Solitude; which is a great region due to it's extreme proximity to Syndicate, Aridia, and Placid; all very hot and varied regions for PvP.
- - We are looking for pilots who aren't afraid to lose their ships. If you never die you never learn. You can hide a bad pilot in a 100 man drake fleet; you can't hide a bad pilot in a 10 man nano gang that requires manual piloting, range control, speed control, "flying your own ship" as it were, and picking off tacklers without the FC having to tell you they're primary.
- - Pilots who are willing to learn, can give and take constructive criticism, and be an overall team player. You'd be amazed what you can learn when you listen to those who have been doing it for awhile. Even experienced pilots don't know everything. Stubbornness will not get you far in Adversity.
- - Pilots with thick, thick skin who like to sit around and bullshit each other on TS. We love ponies. And Hannah Montana. And we say bro probably too much, almost to a fault. If you're Captain S. Bsns and can't crack jokes at yourself and others, Adversity probably isn't for you.
- - Pilots with solo/small gang experience. I try to run fleets often but being able of going out and making your own pvp happen if there is no organized gang roaming is a major plus.
- - Nobody is perfect, but you can usually tell the pilots who know what they're doing and those who are hopelessly lost. That being said, We intend to maintain the highest of standards for this corp; players who excel will be lauded and awarded, players who consistently fall short will be removed (aka consistently having bad fits, consistently being ganked doing stupid ****, having a bad attitude etc). This is done at my discretion.
- - 15m sp minimum. Anything less and you're not worth my time, unless you think your impressive killboard shows otherwise.
Any questions or comments can be directed towards myself (Lex Arson) or CoReSol in-game. Also, join our public channel "Adversity." for friendly chats with Adversity. members and friends.

I've been flying with these bronies, and it's pretty cool. Would be nice if our FC could go one roam without getting scrammed by something, but you can't win them all I guess.
Join up if you like chill people, small gangs, and good fun. Also, ponies. |
