Hey guys, just subbed EVE for the first time. Had done the trail a couple times over the years.
I have a question about mission running. Some agents give me missions to kill the opposing faction. After completing them my standing goes down. I hear this means at some point I will be locked out of those systems.
My question is, does it matter all that much? I've been told to skip those missions to keep my standing up but it's very annoying to have to find new agents and those particular missions seem to give the best reward with both money and those dog tag type things that sell for a decent amount.
If I'm planning on joining the militia at some point, wouldn't that lock me out of the opposing faction systems anyway?
Thanks for any info

You won't get locked out, but they will start shooting at you eventually.
I must admit I haven't got the foggiest idea about FW, but I would imagine it would ruin your standings with the opposing faction after a while.

You can train diplomacy to keep you factional standing up. I barely get in to Gallente space with -4.83 (-5.0 and they start shooting you) with diplo at 3 (iirc). No idea how FW works tho. so there should be a sig here? |

If you join the Militia for your race, it brands you an enemy to the others, it's basically
Gallente + Minmatar VS Caldari + Amarr
So if you join the Gallente militia, it locks you out of Amarr and Caldari space as if you had -5.0 standing with them.
To be honest I don't see much point in being concerned about being locked out... At least the way I see it, there's always ways around these areas.
TL;DR: It won't matter until you reach -5.0 standing.

FW summery
With standings... you only need to be concerned when your standings go below -5.0. When that happens the faction police will come after you when you enter that faction's space (they web AND scram).
You can mitigate this problem by training up the skill "Diplomacy" and/or by not accepting missions that require you to kill faction NPCs (you can see what faction you are going to be up against before you accept the mission). Remember, you can decline 1 mission per agent every 4 hours. _______________________

It doesn't matter so much when you're doing level 1 missions. Once you're up to L3 and L4 missions though, even one mission can cost you a huge chunk of standings. If getting around highsec space is important to you (for example, for hauling and trading), then I'd recommend avoiding those missions. When you're offered one, go ratting or mining or something instead. Or, keep an alternate character for doing the tasks that have negative repercussions... and keep your main free to travel. Or vice versa.

Unless you play Eve on the back of a mule, I believe you mean trial.
