I've been reading the Eve Survival Mission Report for Enemies Abound 5 of 5 here:
http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=EnemiesAbound4p5&show_comments=1#comments
This has got me pretty scared. I've got about 20 mil SP, but am wondering if I can handle this mission or not. Currently, I fly a Golem, alternating between a torp setup and a cruise setup depending on the mission. (Usually torp). Range on my torps is 44+ km - maybe 65+ ish for javs. I currently use CN cruise launchers, or tech 2 siege launchers. Pith-B SB with a tech 2 boost amp, 2 mission-specific hardeners, and 3 target painters. Marauders skill at IV, so a nice bonus for SB and TP. Five hammerhead II's with most drone DPS skills at 4 or 5. All relevent missile skills at 5, except torp Specialization at level
3. +5 missile implants (damage implant for torps, not cruise.) With torps, regular cruisers I am one-
volleying. Megathorons I have been, I think, taking down in 4-5 volleys with torps.
I'm a bit worried about my tank not holding, even if I go the cruise route and replace my target
painters with cap rechargers and more hardeners. Each click of the SB gives me about 930 HP healed on
the shield without boost amp, 1150 HP with boost amp. Oh - for the lows - I was just thinking about
loading up on either tech 2 BCUs or, since I can afford them in a day or so - CN BCUs.
- Can I probably handle this mission?
- Should I go for the cruise setup to handle the 90+ km targets, and kite as much as humanly possible?
- Or do I rely on my massiev DPS within 45 km to take ships out quick?
- Most important things to keep in mind?
- If I go the cruise route, what are the minimum essential mid-slot mods, including my Pith-B? All my
hardeners and SB are tech 2, and will be staying that way. (Reminder: Golem has 7 mids)
- How do people use more than 5 drones in a battleship? I always thought the Use-one-more-drone module could only fit capital ships or higher?
- General thoughts appreciated
Apolgoeis for broken formatting - the dialog box keeps scrolling to the top with every kleystroke I type, and I can't see what I'm tryping. This happens in both IE and firefox. What a terrible bug!

well ea5/5 is the hardest lvl 4 mission and you will want an omni tank for it though tbh as long as your quick in taking down the darkanas and the larger ships its actually pretty easy just keep an eye out for scraming frigs and set your drones on any that appear

I do this mission as often as possible as i can. i tend to farm it before and after dt before handing it in.
my tank is. medium shield boost + sba, 2x invulns and a kinetic hardner noting more.
I use matar drones ( t2 ) and i can do this mission without batting an eye lid.
You will need exp missles. and use your drones to take out frigs and cruisers.
if you want more info contact me ingame.
PS there is NO galante ships in 5/5 only 1,3 and 4.

I kinda stopped reading at torp golem. torp golem pretty much just poops right on the mission while looting/salvaging the whole thing. I use a booster (tbh it really shouldn't matter which booster you use) + boost amp II and 2x invlun IIs. if you move to the spawns you can kill everything without switching to jav ammo. don't remember exactly where the spawns are, but mostly its just land and start moving forward to the stargate and that should put you in pretty good range.
oh and bring around 200 rage torps to kill the stargate at the end, them things do awesome dps to structures.

it is actually really easy, people in the past tended to use over tanked under dps ships, so eventually the timed respawns provided overwhelming dps. with around 1000 dps and a 300-400 tank you should be able to tank each respawn and kill it before the next one, shouldn't ever have much more than 3-4 battleships on you.

I can finish the mission easily now with a Kronos which is widely regarded as the worst Marauder. The mission got easier when I switched from 1 Mag field stabilizer to 3. I lessened my tank and increased my gank which made it easier because its important to wipe out spawns faster then they appear on this mission. I don't believe there are any scramblers in this mission so you should be fine. If you do have to warp out you'll want to come back in a fast ship like a HAC or a Tengu because the mission will keep spawning while you are away.

This mission is super easy in a gank torp Golem. I usually pop the mission objective before the 2 last spawns arrive. |

Because of the time-triggered spawns, this has been the only lv 4 mission I got in trouble with in my Drake (when I had around 20mil SP or so). You need a hefty DPS; if not, eventually the spawns will begin to overwhelm you.

Best advice I think for that mission is to fit for dps. I complete it in a drake for fun.
lows-1xspr 3xcn bcs mids-2xlse afterburner hardeners-em,kin,exp highs-7xhmlII scourge fury rigs-purgers drones-5xhobII implants-5%dmg/rof decent skills
When I was lacking in dmg/skills, I had to warp off 1 time after all had spawned and had all but 1 of the rf darkana's left. Nowadays, the only interesting part is the Freedom Liberty battleships hitting me for thermal in a dps race. I won that race with just under 40% shields about 2 weeks ago. I might be able to drop the shield power relay for a 4th bcs at this point.
People seem to like to overtank it for some reason. Since it is basically a dps race you want as little tank as you can get away with I would think. Only problem I would see you having is getting out to Wave 4 to apply your awesome torp damage. I use the afterburner to close quickly. Maybe if you move towards the Stargate from the start you will be closer to that group when they spawn.
Can anyone remember where Wave 4 spawns in relation to the Stargate? I'd definitely try torps. I'd have greater confidence if I could remember spawn points. |
