I want to run level 3 missions in semiafk mode and are wondering what would be the good relatively low SP options for that. I have so far tried Drake with FoF missiles and it sort of works, but as many missions have structures it has to chew thru those first and it takes a while. Have to activate launchers every ~3 mins, but EVE says with voice when launchers are out of ammo so I know when to do it even with client on background.
Would I do better in Myrmidon ? Drones dont attack structures on their own if I understand it correct so while the on paper dps would be a bit lower in reality all the dps would be applied to NPC's ? Would the NPC's just kill my drones ? I do take a look at the ship every 3 - 5 minutes.
I have currently Battlecruiser level 4 and thanx to learning refund can now use T2 heavy missile launchers. My drone skills are very low, but the initial sprint to level 4 skills is about a week. Plus another week for the ability to use 5 drones and then drone interfacing.

Edited by: Karlhockey Forte on 23/12/2010 01:48:43 Passive shield tank the Myrm, will be able to handle most, if not all L3s without a sweat. Fit autocannons on the high slots since they don't use cap. Aggro entrie room. Set drones to agressive and launch. Come back to a empty, dead room.
Check on eve survial prior to mission to check over if it is a mission that has just the single spawn of NPCs, or if it is one that has waves. On the wave ones, you're going to have to stay there and watch agro.

Thanx. I will give a try to a drone platform then. Many missions have waves nowadays but if I use T1 drones I can just launch new wave as Myrmidon has enough room for few spare flights.
Anyone know the ballpark of isk/h in the semiafk lev 3 mission doing ? Same as semiafk mining in max expanded hulk (17 800 m3, dock every 15 mins)? The hulk was ~6 mil/h a long while ago, but this is new char and cant use hulk. I'm hoping for ~10 mil/h from L3 missions done this way if I use my brain when cashing in LP.
Planning to use L3Q19 agent in sec 0.5 that is far enough from low sec to not give missions there often (need the 4h timer to decline occasional mining mission offered)
I assume ~300 dps tank should be adequate to handle most L3 missions. And ~ 100 .. 150 dps damage.

I doubt you will do 10 mil/h afking l3s .. but Myrmidon is a good choice to try. Gila or Ishtar will be even better ... but more expensive and more skills needed.

* Make room in your fit for a drone link augmentor and train all the skills that increase drone control range as high as possible, including ewar drones.
* Aggro entire room using conventional missiles.
* Do NOT set drones to focus fire, but let them run freely.
* Load FoF missiles and fire. The missiles will attack what ever the drones do for the most part and focus far less on structures.

Hmmm...never thought of using FoF as an AFK device. Thanks for the tip. Question? Why let drones run freely? I'm thinking about armor-repairing NPCs that will overwhelm the damange from a single or couple of drones.

On Drake I have target painter I use for agro, as switching missiles takes 10 sec and switching them back takes another 10 sec. As far as not grouping drones goes though that does not seem a sensible idea to me, as when they are not grouped then mission NPC could have enough tank to be able to tank them as my drone skills are still low.
Was thinking about 'proper' drone platform for trying drones, as those get bonus to drone hp and damage from the ship skill as well, so drones should be a lot more effective on them than they are on Drake. Main issue with drake was that FoF spend a lot of time in most rooms chewing through large collidable objects while drones should just ignore them unless specifically told to attack them.
After some EFT'ing I made a Myrmidon setup I'm aiming towards. It is armor tanked, 2 drone control range gizmos, tractor beam for missions pecific loot, 3 artilleries (for agro) and armor tank permarunning, as on Myrmidon it seemed to end up roughly as good as passive shield tank with a bit more room CPU wise, and I probably need all the room there is CPU wise as drone rigs lower the ship CPU. Rigs would be one for max lock range, one for armor repairer boost amount and one for drones, probably for the MWD speed.

An AFK Domi could do it too. probably get away with a single LARII just warp in turn on launch drones shoot a couple things to get agro come back in a few minutes to clean up and warp out. Most L3s let BS's and those that don't will have ship restrictions you can check prior to accepting.
