Edited by: Hittings on 19/12/2010 01:48:20 finally got my hulk fit out. Woot!
i had a link at work for a mineral price sheet, and it adjusted on a day to day basis. I cannot find this link anymore. Anyone able to help me with a suggestion on what I should be mining? Thanks!
Also a good hulk fit would be appreciated. Alot of people abbreviate things, and as a new player I don't know what they are exactly... Can't fix stupid. |

Personally, if i'm in the mood to mine, I like blue ice. Can't help you with the link (I'm fairly new myself). After the ice harvesters, I'd enhance my shields and cap recharge speed with rigs, maybe a warp core stabilizer, and arm myself with as many of the biggest drones I can handle for defensive purposes.

And a nosfertu too. That way, if anyone tries to mess with you, you can take the hits, and your swarm of ogres will kill em for you while your nosferatu keeps their caps low so they can't recover.

Hmm... You are probably mining in high security systems - so mine Plagioclase or Kernite, depending on your region. Stay away from Omber.
If you are planning on using the minerals for production - you will have to mine everything and buy the rest on the market.
When you are ready to take it one step up - mine belts in a WH using a POS. ( That one is more complicated, and needs some coordination. The best would be to find someone in your corporation, who has some experience with setting up a POS )

The short answer: Don't mine.
The long answer: You can't compete with the Bots, so instead make war on macro miners by running missions and reprocessing your loot.

This is my new character, made him as a mining alt. Wondering why you say to stay away from Omber? Is it purely because of pirates? because last time i checked, pirates in high sec are weak as.

Compete with bots? Why would you compete with bots? It's not like you have to be online 23/7 to "update" your roids. You go mine whatever you want, wherever you want, whenever you want.
Go back to your ******ed "omg bots are killing eve" group and hope CCP doesn't ban all of them or you're going to buy Drakes at 80mil.

Have a look at this ---> http://www.p0lecat.com/eve/index.php The second part of the chart gives you an idea what isk/m3 you can expect from the same ammount of m3 from different ore types. Even veldspar and pyrox are better... Of cause the price can be different in your region.

If they did ban the bots then the price of minerals would go up as supply would go down, but then everyone and their brother would start mining bringing supply back up and prices back down. Not only that, but for anyone mining, they will make more money to compensate for the higher prices. The only people who will suffer the most are professions that don't depend on the market, such as ratting and missions. Production people will adapt by raising their prices and still keeping a profit margin, although it would be slow at first until the item prices catch up to the mineral prices.
This is kind of off topic.

Eh, it's not so bad. It takes a month and a half for a new character to sit in a hulk, and I know I was a huge noob back then.
@OP, mine anything with Nocxium in it.

So, you got a hulk and NOW you want to figure out how to use it? You don't know what to mine? You think mining is not a waste of time?
Damn kid, I need to slap some sense into you. Let me first start out by saying I have a pimped out Hulk for mining ops with my corp. Tech 2 strips with T2 crystals, MLU2, etc... our income sucks hard. L4 missions pay about 3 times more than a hi-sec hulk, but L4s can be done with less total SPs invested and a ship a quarter of the cost.
No one in their right mind would start mining now. The bots drive out all competition.
I am seriously grinding missions and raising skills to fly Drake so I can do L4's. The mining profits are just too garbage to be worth it, and all I get out of the SPs I invested into mining is a new ship to add to my list of station spinners.

Train up Space Mechanics to lvl 5 so you can use a Space Conveyor to get rock chips back to the station. Train up Space Crushing to lvl 5 so you can use an in space asteroid crusher to get things small enough to use the Space Conveyor
Now sit at the Asteroid belt in the cheapest ship you can find that has LOTS of laser slots so you look cool with all the streaming light thingies.
Crush the Asteroids, place on Conveyer, watch the ISKies roll in.
