I have a simple question that does not seem to have been properly addressed yet. WHY??? Why are the Learning Skills being withdrawn (I'm not objecting as I will get about 5.5 million points to play with) but all things are done for a reason, and if CCP wanted to be nice, why didn't they do this years ago? Is this a tactic to try and get back many people who have dropped out of the game, or to make it more attractive to new players? Just curious?

Better late than never? We're getting our skill points back. A small part of the EVE community will lose a total of 72 skill points an hour, totaling up to ~580k a year. However, they will also be getting back ~5 mil sp, so it will take them 8 years to eat through all of the bonus SP they will get back, so it's all good.

They were OP and threatened the sovereignty of several large alliances. As such they were removed and will be replaced by non sov threatening things like recipes for baked clams.

"Better late than never? We're getting our skill points back."
this is wrong, and often repeated, and it drives me crazy
if i'm mapped for perception and willpower and train those skills at 2700 sp an hour, and i train learning skills at say 1900 sp an hour, then if i train the one group for 100 hours that's 270k sp and the other is 190k sp. so, when i get the learning sp back, 190k, i haven't been given my sp back. i lost 80k SP on the deal by training something at a slower speed for a future benefit that will now never come
why is that so hard for people to wrap their heads around?
you can say that its no big deal, and that's fine. you can say that few people are affected by it, and that's fine. but the truth is that CCP is taking SP from a group of people, and taking training speed from a group of people. that's the truth. good or bad that's what's going on. no one is getting their sp back, unless they only ever trained each learning skill while mapped for that specific skill

Presumably because it's nonsense. Nothing prevents you from putting those points back into some charisma based stuff or any skills that require attributes you haven't maxxed. Using your calculations, that would actually gain you some "additional" points.

This is Wrong, it is not bonus sp, when learning skills are removed tomorrow you will lose all the sp trained in learning skills.
Your total sp will decrease by however much you have trained in learnings.
Once you reallocate that sp to other skills you will then have the same amount of sp as you have now.
All min/max trainers will be 72sp per hour worse off after tomorrows patch. á

Has it really happened about 15 billion times? Suggestion: Remove the "new topic" button from everywhere apart from the list of topics section within a subforum.
That'd save those with chronic hand/eye coordination some face. |

Cant CCP just add a new skill for those whiners? You can then either choose if you want your SP in learning refunded in the normal way, so you can use it on other stuff, or you can get a x15 skill or something to lvl 5, so that you gain double the SP as what is removed from learning, but this new skill will be completely useless and dont do anything at all.
You get all your SP you invested in learning skills returned to be used on something useful, so your useful amount of SP becomes higher. Yes your total ammount of SP stays the same, but who cares? Well you do apparently, so that would be the solution that you can get a higher SP counter but are not actually allowed to redistribute the SP.

oh good, another arrogant moron
you don't gain anything in my scenario. if i have 2 toons, both maxed for space command, and one trains 90% space command and 10% learning and the other trains 100% space command, after the sp "refund" the one who trained the learning skills will have less SP than the one who didn't. that's not gaining anything, you're crazy if you think it is
yes, if you trained the learning skills long enough ago it works out fine but the fact remains that not everyone did and so some people are losing out. to deny that is just silly

I wont deny, I wont even bother looking at the numbers behind it. Mainly because I don't care and making a scene about it will get you right where you are.

i don't think i'm making a scene about it. i'm just pointing out that some people have a legit reason to be mad about this, and all the "stfu! you're getting your sp back!" people might take a second to consider that its not a good thing for 100% of the player base
