Originally by: Gabriel Peace Rumor has it that the node was reinforced. Lag was ok at first but went to **** when it became beneficial for IT.
Plz...yes rumor had it, that node was reinforced, but obviously it wasnt......we were experinceing just as much lag as u guys were, so plz stop insinuat ccp favorized IT.
All in all, u came in good numbers, we had an awasome fight that lasted for several hours......u eventually left the field.
Why not just leave it at that?

I really don't understand what you have to complain about.
Lag has been evident since 2004, when large fleet battles started to commence - It has been a known problem since then. While CCP have made continued efforts in improving technology and software to handle the stress on nodes, there will still be lag.
This is one of the consequences of a single server for 50,000 users - while CCP try to predict "unexpected load" (by asking players to notify them of 'big fights'), so they can allocate more resources to that particular node - It will NEVER be perfect.
CCP are at the forefront of the industry in regards to handling these stress's on a single node, mostly because the game is very unique and it has forced them to looking at new ways to handle the 'lag.'
Ever since Goons came about, "Lag" became part of tactical warfare - as first to blob a system won the fight, pretty much.
TLDR; You knew it was going to lag, you decided to blob anyway - if you cannot handle IT's Wallet (SuperCap fleet), then you deserve to lose. That is the way it is right now, whether you like it or not - Stop trying to lag the system and then crying because it is lagging.

Death to supercaps
Here is the story. We jumped 350 guys into system pushing it from 900 to 1200+. No grid load delay, mods were working as we burned off the gate and killed the bubbles.
We warped to the tower and shot a few carriers. Still little lag. Maybe 5-10 second delay.
Tower comes out, we start shooting. Mods are working. Then the supers show up and launch fighter-bombers and start DDing. Immediately the system goes to utter ****. Went from 10-20s delay to 10-20 minute delay.
Coincidence? I think not. Supers and fighter-bombers are whats breaking this game.
That said, it was an interesting fight. The preparation and travel and logistics involved was pretty mind-blowing to a dumb newbie like me. I look forward to attempting to cause more havoc alongside our new-found buddies, AAA and provibloc and Stain and everyone else.
IT brought the right ships for the job considering how EVE works today and used them well. Congratts, GF, and all that jazz.

Node reinforcement was sent by IT as well. It would not have been nearly as playable otherwise.
Just 2 weeks ago in 68VT the lag was FAR worse with nowhere the same numbers involved.
Believe it or not, you lost because of decisions on the field and the fact that we were on our own turf and could safely deploy super capitals. IT doesn't sit in a hollow volcano thinking about how to lag systems to death. <Insert joke regarding 6000 members here>
The consensus of IT FCs was actually that lag helped you, by preventing us from quickly repairing the tower with the overwhelming amount of shield rep we had on field. There were over 30 super-carriers and over 100 carriers. Even with your entire fleet shooting the tower, you would not come close to our-muscling the shield rep in a zero lag environment.
What might have gone well for you in zero lag would be a larger number of carrier kills. Although, if you were focusing carriers and not the tower we'd be done quickly and the POS would be saved, at which point they could all move into shields.
And... that's my 1 post on this sub-forum for the year. Return to tin-foil hat discussion of :CCP: involvement at your leisure. ---

Originally by: Kalle Demos Wait a sec, so lag wasnt the problem, it was DDs and you guys refusing to bring caps?
The primary problem seemed to be the lag, which in this case did seem to favor you guys. We could only cycle systems once every 5-10 minutes. This heavily favors weapons with slow cycle times... like Titan Doomsdays, whose cycle time was right around perfect. The supercaps would have had a fraction of the influence they did if the server wasn't ****ting itself the whole fight, since with less lag we'd have been able to DPS the tower fast enough that the DD didn't have time to blow up all of our battleships. We might not have taken the CSAA, but if the CSAA got repped, with the BS still up we had the alpha to just about 1-shot carriers, so there would have been a large number of cap kills.
In the grand scheme of things, reasons and excuses aside, we got beat. You win some, you lose some, and the loss wasn't any worse than Init's loss at their CSAA a couple of days back. I for one will be back for more, and hopefully my blackbird will actually be able to be on grid for more than 20 minutes next time, given that it's really hard to operate a ship whose defenses are based on bouncing out and back in when the lag makes it take so long to get back on grid :)

Hey guys since we are all as poor as &^%^%$$ lets all bring t1 BC's to a csaa fight. If we can bring 1000 of us in drakes there is no way the system can handle it and there is no way in the lag that iT can shoot us all fast enough. After all we marched into c3n on each of the last 3 days with 100 plus drakes and reinforced their towers at will.

Great idea, I exploited game learning mechanics for the last few months and have 2 decent drake pilots. Lets do it!!!

This is pretty much what happened. Especially the very last part.
LOL at IT and pets accusing us of trying to blob when there were over 100 carriers ~30 supers and I think 14 titans on grid. The lag was actually very playable at about 1.2k in local until it rose to 1.6k and supers dropped FBs.

What happened was pretty simple... When DD from 15 Titans are going off at the same rate as artillery from BS (once every 10 minutes), the BS are going to lose. Before the server melted, Goons were popping carriers in 2 volleys (and yes we were because I couldn't even get a lock before they died). After Stain and everyone else showed up and the Drakes on the field started spamming missl, the Maelstroms were no longer able to be effective. In the end, we just lost too many BS after awhile to out damage the carrier reps on the tower, but we were very close for a long time.
The lag was horrendous, and I really hope CCP learned a lot from this fight, so they can improve this game destroying problem... because seriously, this game has been out for 7 years, and they have yet to fix lag. Well they did for a minute, but then broke it again the next update. One thing I did notice though, grid loaded extremely fast upon jumping into system, so good job on that CCP. Overall, it was a decent fight that could have been an epic one were it not for crippling lag... I really would have liked to see what the fight would have looked like had guns actually been able to fire at somewhat normal rates.

Remembering the fountain campaign and the battles down in querius before CCP broke stuff I'd say fleet composition might affect it.
Those fights were mostly BS slugfests and lag was there, but not in the same degree than we saw yesterday.
And yep you were not alone with those 10-15 min guncycles.

We know our fleet wasn't alone in the 10-15 min cycles. It's the fact that our ships shot as often as the Doomsday cooldown from the titans. |

Something that was pointed out to me:
1. IT had to deploy a very large cap/supercap fleet to defeat... everyone. This brings up the fact that it was a very very risky situation. If lag had been reasonable we could have alpha'd carriers into oblivion, like we did when we landed... then the lag hit :(
2. We also attacked deep into their space, past their meatshield Init., blackstar, etc.
If I was in IT leadership I would be picking up the bat-phone and calling in my blue meatshields. The weight of Eve is pushing against IT.
