I have proof that the eve empires are more technologicly advanced then those from startrek (and thus should win), to end ANY potential discussion on it in the future should any one say other wise, just quote this : CLICKY
just wanted to share that in case no one knew, and if you all did... oh well think of it as a reminder.

You're completely forgetting that, while Eve may be a sandbox - Star Trek is not.
People die in Eve all the time People NEVER die in Star Trek (apart from the useless ones) due to Storyline
If it was a fight: Eve's Sandbox would be written in Star Treks storyline without any sand - signifying victory for the trekkies.
The only way to beat the Trekkies would be to use the alternative universe of Trek zone (with the bad kirk) in which case Starfleet is already beaten and completely crap: but inherently much cooler.

I'll admit decisions must be much easier in Eve.
"Captain, the Kabayashi Maru is sending a distress call. What will we do?"
"To hell with them, Uhura. We have a Level 4 to complete."

Actually I think the response would be to either ransom them or scream "LOL TARP!" and steal the loot when they explode.

The Kabayashi Maru is clearly a level 5. Thus the inability to solo it in a BS without hacking. ---

Edited by: Culmen on 08/12/2010 23:08:46 Heres an interesting calculation. Without skills a drake has a peak capacitor recharge rate of 9.4GJ/s
Since there are about 16,639 drake pilots online when the QEN took it's snap shot. That means that the drake pilot's capacitors by themselves are a 0.819 on the Kardashev Scale.
Now add up all the ships online, add in the power grid needed for fitting/propulsion. Do the same with all the ships that are offline. And EVE should easily reaches a 2 on the Karsashev scale and further more why do i even need a sig? |

If we consider that there is no Dyson spheres in any system of New Eden, and that the planetary economies are separated from the spatial economy (I don't remember what chronicle say it. Something about the difficulty to transit between space and planets at low cost), then EVE civilizations don't still reach Type 2. Signature removed for not being EVE related. Zymurgist |

If anyone has read The Commonwealth series of books by Peter F Hamilton, you'd know that they have ships that can travel 54 light years per hour. Lets see Star Trek try to match that...
Also, there are some interesting parallels between Q and Dr Who... both can travel anywhere and at any time, and can have a profound influence on whats happening there

Well that's just EVE's answer to Star Trek's impulse engine. Carriers can travel up to 14.625 lightyears every couple of minutes if setup correctly. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Oh, you better read the Void Triology that follows the Commonwealth series, the ships got a bit faster a thousand years later...

Interesting read about the Dyson Sphere. That is a pretty good idea to have in Eve. Sun energy harvesting! Produce crap load of goody to make T3 mods.

There is a scene in TNG (the episode where the whole planets surface is destroyed except for one house), where a ship attacking the enterprise fores off a 500mw shot at the enterprise, and the bridge crew remark on how low powered a weapon that is.
Considering our siege weapons only put out 1Gw (twice the power of the 'pathetic' weapon), eve would probably lose that one.

Edited by: Nova Fox on 09/12/2010 01:29:15 The people in new eden only been flying in space for about 400 years. Though inheriently the older technologies are beyond the 15,000 years old mark approximately in which when the original eve gate closed. And the older tech is a hell lot better than we flying cavemen ever came up with such as jamie's battleship sized nova cannon oneshotting a titan and escort fleet.
Shields in Star trek are nano particle based by the way and are subject to many vunerabilities.
