The film is based on a graphic novel with the same title. So, that's where the randomness comes from, looks awesome though.
It and Tron Legacy are the 2 films I'm looking forward to at the moment.

Reminded me a bit of Westworld. It looks very silly. But it could be entertaining.

As for cowboys and alines... I dunno seems weird man. I guess could be a fun move, if ti does not try and take itself too seriously. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, the movie director and producers take themselves too seriously.
Quote: Mr. Favreau has joined the studio in a campaign to change expectations around the film, most recently by opening his editing room to a group of online reporters for a talk about the trailer. By the time the film, which cost about $100 million to produce, opens next July, the studio expects advertising and future promotions to have persuaded almost everyone that Mr. FavreauÆs movie is a tough-minded adventure on the order of Clint EastwoodÆs ôUnforgivenö ùwith aliens.
Yep, Cowboys and Aliens is a classic like "Unforgiven" ... not! ---

Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg, arguably two of the current big heavy weights in production, have there hands in this one. In my opinion this movie definitely has more potential then most of the sci-fi's that have come out in the past few years based on these two guys being involved. But I will never be able to take 'normal' humans beating alien invaders with current technology; at least movie trailer shows them taking out one of the alien ships with alien technology.

I heard of the title like 2 weeks ago and when I read it I figured it was going to be some horrible production not even worthy of a B-rate title, but after watching the preview and seeing some actual big names in it I must confess I am a intrigued by it.
Saving my money for Tron though because that just looks like it is going to own.

Jeff Bridges in True Gritt just may over shadow Jeff Bridges in Tron. I can not wait for True Grit. John Wayne in True Grit was okay but I always found Wayne, icon that he is, a bit corny in most of his roles and beleive that Jeff Bridges will bring the edge to Marshal Reuben J. Cogburn that Charles Portis inteded his character to exhude in the book. Both will be epic for sure though.

I think it will be fun adventure movie for the summer. Kind of reminds me of some short sci-fi stories and short novels.

It doesn't star Will Smith so that's a good thing. Idea is, as stated earlier, hilariously random and might just work out well.

What's wrong with a bit of hard sci-fi ? I'm getting bored by all the soft sci-fi flying around these days, I have a pretty big hankering for some serious//almost-realistic approach, and this looks like it could be it. I, for one, completely look forward to seeing it as a non-comedy. _

(The Cold Equations would make an awesome short film.) Never mind, it has been done already.

ever since firefly, i've thought that western + sifi could win. maybe this one actually stands a chance of being a decent flick.
on a side note, i heard a story about this driving home from work yesterday. they said the movie trailer premiered in LA sometime earlier in the week and the audience totally cracked-up during the entire trailer. apparently the director wasn't very impressed, as this was not supposed to be a comedy, but a serious action/sci-fi. i guess we'll see...
