Probes can now be added to the overview and are therefore easier to scan for? Noooooooooooooooo!
Is this because it was apparently previously possible to add them to your overview via an exploit (that shall remain undiscussed per forum rules) that you were unable to counter?

It wasn't an exploit, several people petitioned GM's to get a ruling on it, all you had to do was manually add the ID to the XML file. Although, yes, this was the reason for them adding it. Not because "it couldn't be countered" but because they realized that woops, we missed something in our menus, guess we better add it.

Skills books for ORE ships have always been sold in all schools, e.g., you will find Industrial Command Ships (Orca), Capital Industrial Ships (Rorqual), Exhumers (e.g., Hulk) and Mining Barge (e.g. Covetor) in all schools. Therefore the ORE Industrial skill will be sold everywhere.

at current mineral prices, a Noctis will cost approximately 42mil to build (not counting the BPO).

So 42mil to build the noctis and the dev blog says the hull retails for 1.6mil,hmm am i missing something here? i think i'll just let some poor sap go into the hole building me a noctis.
1.6 mil for the skill the BPO is worth a whole lot more i think 360 mil.

Originally by: Callin Vandylx I too would like an explanation of why Loan Contracts are being removed. I have used these extensively in the past as part of Eve University's Mining Ship Loaner Program.
Would CCP please comment in more detail on why these are being removed, and give full details on the forthcoming January "Contracts Refactoring?" Furthermore, will a reasonable replacement for these loan contracts be provided? Callin
The reason for removing this contract type is that it was very seldom used and it was apparently a breeding ground for scamming. This is much the same reason as for removing the 'freeform' contract type in Apocrypha 1.3.
For the legitimate loan contracts, almost every single one operates on trust and does not require collateral. For those contracts, an alternative would be to loan the items and/or money using an item exchange contract and then receiving the items back with another such contract.
We realize this is inconvenient for people that are using these contracts for legitimate means but when we compare the amount of work these contract scams add to our customer support department to the value that this contract type provides we feel that their removal is justified.
We will provide more information about the upcoming contracts changes soonish. It should be on Sisi in a couple of weeks.
I am truly sadden and displeased by the explanation as to why loan contracts will be removed. I personally feel that this feature should not be removed on the sole basis of the amount of petitions that are received in regard to scams that loan contracts are associated with.
The loan contract mechanic serves an important function in regards to corporation management for the minority that know how to use them. It allows a "paper trail" as to the assets and commitments a member enters into within the game. It facilitates this by allowing players a game mechanic to fulfill these commitments and allowing the contracts to automatically document these without the unnecessary overhead of administrative due diligence.
I am highly saddened that CCP felt the need to discontinue this game mechanic and urge them to find a replacement for this feature in their "refactoring" efforts.

That's useless. A salvaging ship costing more than a battlecruiser ? Yet it has less shields, armor, hull than a normal t-1 cruiser.
CCP please reduce some materials so this new "salvager ship" costs no more than 4-7 mil isk like a tier 3 cruiser. As it's basically a cruiser with salvager/tracktor beam bonus.

A lot of people currently use the salvicane as their salvaging ship of choice, which puts this in about the same price range.
I know people who have put the T3's tractor beam range bonus to use as a salvaging ship, far beyond the price range of the Noctus. Not that I find this reasonable, but a 7 mil isk dedicated salvaging ship? You're out of your mind. This ship is FAR more specialized than any T1 cruiser hull. You think it's only cruiser level though, just because of it's armor? Fine, price spec it in the specialized cruiser category, among the T2 cruisers, at around 100mil. You think it's only worth 7 mil, then don't buy one. Personally I find this a -very- reasonable price for the role it plays and the bonuses it gives.
Originally by: Zendoren I am truly sadden and displeased by the explanation as to why loan contracts will be removed. I personally feel that this feature should not be removed on the sole basis of the amount of petitions that are received in regard to scams that loan contracts are associated with.
I completely agree with Zendoren CCP. While I find no use for the loan contracts, and I would call into question anyone who says they use them legitimately (sorry Zen, this means you too ) I think it's pretty sad that CCP will remove -anything- from the game based on the number of petitions associated with it. This sets a bad standard of caving into the demand of players who create petitions not about a flaw in the game mechanics or about a way to better the game, but only due to their own ignorance or downright stupidity (I call um as I see um) when not reading the fine print or bothering to learn how a system works.
While I do feel that the contract system needs improvement, and fully support any improvements that have a basis of bettering the game, I don't feel that "too many petitions" falls under the category of fixing the broken, it falls under "caving to the masses". There is a fine line here when players start to complain about content, but I believe you crossed it when it become an issue of the "amount of work these contract scams add to our customer support department". Sucks for those getting scammed, but a mechanic should not be removed because some people lost out.
I hope whatever you are planning in it's place is above and beyond greatness, both for legitimate users, and "scammers" or you may face a backlash that will create work for your customer support department, and you wouldn't want that to happen...

The multi-monitor-thingy is old news?
I had EVE streched over 2 x 19" monitors pre Win7 (2-3 years ago i think?)
2560x1024 resolution ...
Although - don't know if it was my ATI card that did the trick ... Windows recognized it as one pretty wide-widescreen monitor :P

I have but one request, if possible. Invisible asteroids cost me, as a newbie, more ships than anything else. Could you possibly make the collision the same size as the visual for asteroids, like they are for almost every other collidable object? That way, I won't get stuck in a field of gravel. Space gravel.

The patch note regarding Conflagration ammunition was incorrect. The note initially read 'Conflagration has had its tracking speed penalty removed and its damage boosted.' After double checking with Game Design we can clarify that the note should read,'Conflagration has had its tracking speed penalty reduced and its damage boosted.
This change has now been highlighted in green text in the patch notes.

Or something like: "no icon" - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - II - faction icon - deadspace icon ... (Comes to mind, very good color coding in WoW) Is it an overlay or an integral part of the every item's bitmap?..
Fixing tractor beams and warp is very nice too...

thankyou ccp for the windows option because I no longer have to fight with my wife about needing another monitor. I can now run 2 clients on 1 monitor if I just resize the window. I don't know if you did that feature because of me, but thankyou for listening to your customers.

Dedicated salvage ship, Awesome. Now they just need to add a drone bay and some "Salvage Drones" to make this baby complete!
Anyone know if we are going to keep the bonus from the learn skills we all ready have? I have all learn skills to level V so I do not want to see all my hard work, time and ISK go to waste. Not to mention the fact that I have shaved days/weeks off my training ques by having all my lean skills maxed out. So I will not be happy if we do not get compt for this change.

Ki Sol: I would rather have a set of Tractor Drones pulling my wrecks into range, so that my T2 Salvagers really could get to work..
I use a SalvageDrake today with 5 tractor/3 salvager, but even with 2 cargorigs and a tackle, it still seem to run short on space in a L4 mission
