Sooo, I was looking at fuel costs between the two jump portal generators. Black ops vs Titan.
1:54 ratio of fuel costs (titan:blops).
Doesn't that seem ever so slightly excessive? why is the blops jump portal so fuel intensive?

Because it's a special bridge and only ever jumps through small (aka cheap) ships anyway. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

it can barely handle 2 recons, just sayin (396.252m3 fuel for a single falcon @ jdc IV, blops can only hold 1000m3 + ~600m3 if you include cargo)

I you want to anger your friendly black ops pilot, just fit a 1600mm and activate your MWD before using the jump bridge
on topic: I don't know...the endurance in terms of jumping the black ops or bridging your fleetmates is really really bad. You can bridge bombers almost for free but recons and t3 cruisers massively hurts. The issue that everyone will recommend you using a blockade runner as a gas station is really bad design. I hope some day CCP will fix this once and for all.

It's not really bad design ù it's a matter of "remember and take care of your logistics chain". ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

so you want someone to always be following your blops gang in their transport ship? sucks to be them right? what happens if your blops gets popped? have fun getting home.

Nah, it's a stupidly bad design.

Well - its nice ship although fuel use is a bit excsessive. In my opinon however it's best used as comfortable way of hauling your pod around. Good for quick travel in this age of cyno generators, main advantage is that it can take 'shortcuts' in your jump bridge network as usually far more system have cyno generators than jump bridges.
If you park cov ops cyno alt in your favourite low sec system as well can even make it directly to empire (while losing cyno alts a lot less frequently as that cyno will last only 60 - 30 sec).
It consumes roughly 4x less fuel than carrier to travel same distance. It just need to do multiple jumps to get there bcos of extremely phatetic jump range.

Holds true for the entire fleet, not just the transport. And without the transport, they will have problems getting home, so yes ù that guys has a pretty darn important role to fill, and has to maintain proper navigational awareness of the system they travel in. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

still doesn't mean that it shouldn't be cheaper to jump stuff thru the portal. that's one of the two main gripes I have with them, the other being such a stupid low range that it limits the operability range of BO's too much.
not asking it to jump a fleet of 300 recons and 500 bombers across EVE. just asking a more sensible jump range and portal fuel consumption (6 LY with lvl5 calibration would be enough, and even cutting portal fuel consumption by half would still be too costly in fuel). ---

It sucks to be in transport, because it sits on their ass, while everyone else has fun time pwning stuff.

Alts.
And something that nobody has pointed out yet: covert cynos ignore cyno jamming.

I despise alts. Anything that is only manageable with alts is epic fail.

Probably because blops doesn't use strontium, it uses isotopes instead.

Anyone have access to the mass / range calculation?
As I remember it, the fuel costs are more sensitive to mass than to range.
Personally, I think that the distinction between allowing cloaky ships through is kind of bogus and that the black ops jump portal generator should allow any frigate class hull.
Would give people more reasons to fly AFs and EW ships. Plus makes the black ops much more valuable in moving fleets of frigates around. |

Yea, im sure jumping a bunch of blops into a cyno jammed system is going to be a great idea. Not like that 100man gate camp is going to struggle popping a bunch of sub-par combat ships. -------

Not like that 100 man gate camp is going to be hanging around when you drop 7 bombs on their position... --

meh just do what we do... just jump around and drop with blops instead of bridging other ships :D --

If you've ever taken part in a fleet territory fight you'd know how stupid that sounds. You have tackle/gank SPREAD OUT on the incoming gate (which means bombs just wont be able to hit multiplate targets). Then you have snipers 150k off the gate, constantly warping to different sniping spots and sitting aligned, MWD equipped ready to avoid those bombs/out-range them or just warp off and then back again.
Please dont talk about stuff you've never experienced.

Same as above - people dont just all hit 'approach' to one ship and wait for your to drops bombs, they will be spread out - frigs will be orbitting at 40-50km ready to burn onto the game fora jump in and hac's will the sitting 20-30km off in all directions ready to pick up targets.
Cyno jamemd systems are jammed to be defended - these people aren't brain damaged, they are fully away of the number of idiots who think that this stuff is the definative answer to fleet fights, when its literally just a bag of sh*t.
lag on grid at a PoS is the only thing that will cause any of this to work, but lag on grid at a PoS is gonna get the attacking fleet killed anyway when they warp in and spend 3 minutes waiting for their ship to load, then suddenly be back in an empire station in a pod.
Edit***
And btw there will be about 10 large warp bubbles placed around the gate, so landing about 40km away from your targets is going to be useless. -------
