Hello Everyone
I am going to be hosting a treasure hunt event on Sunday 28th November 2010. The event will start in the Amsen system at 1630 GMT. Entry to this event is free of charge. To take part you need to be in a ship in orbit of Amsen 1 at about 1630, you will also need to be in the ingame channel of #eve-cem in order to receive extra clues and updates.
The aim of the event is a mix between a race around the galaxy and a puzzle game. Scattered around New Eden will be about 20 containers. To access these cans you will need to crack the password, the clue to the password will be can name. All the passwords will be in lowercase. So for example: TH1: The can password is password password
Inside the can there will be a clue to the location of the next can. There may also be a prize in that can. So for example: Q1: This system in the headquarters for CONCORD Yulai
All the cans will be anchored at celestial objects in highsec systems. Although the cans are in highsec your route may take you through dangerous areas so please make sure your ship is insured and that your clone is up-to-date.
The ultimate prize is a PLEX and a faction frigate BPC.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

OMG! I love treasure!
I will be there! I have traveled to many worlds, and seen many wonderful things, but now, I take to the stars to claim my place among the gods. |

So, we will need combat scanner probes? If so, I need to refit the ship I just bought.

Probes will not be needed as the cans will be located at celestial objects.

Sounds great! Hopefully I should be there.
I presume that large cargo space is not required, and thus a frigate will do?

You presume correctly. You could even use a shuttle if you wanted.

I am sorry to report there is a 30 minute delay on the start of the event. This is due to IRL issues. The event will now start at 1700.

You can still join the channel and laugh at all the mistakes people are making with the clues!

2nd place Winner!
By cowardly/clever use of a scout alt I managed to save myself about 14 jumps. Had it not been for a starting some 20 minutes late and making an error on a clue sending me 30 jumps in the wrong direction, that may well have put me in the lead.
Good times and excellent humor.

A massive thanks to everyone that turned up. I hope you all had fun. Once again I am sorry for the late running of the event, I hope it didn't detract too much from the fun.
Congratulations to everyone who found a prize and commiserations for everyone who got caught in the gatecamp while crossing Black Rise.

I had a great time. I think many people will enjoy this sort of thing. Unfortunately, the more people who are in the race for the prize, the less likely I will ever place again. :)
My heart was pounding as I warped through lowsec areas to get to the next clue. I was terribly behind in the quest for can #20. If it weren't for gate camps that took out the leaders - I probably wouldn't have placed at all in this event.
There were folks who gave up - because they were so far behind. But the tide turned a few times during the course of the event. It was a truly exciting time for many people. In the end, those who placed did not start out as the leaders of the pack.
Sadly, some folks lost expensive ships and gear. I suppose that risk adds to the excitement. It will no doubt play a part in folks' decisions of what ships to fly in the next treasure hunt.
Overall, the event was well organized, the prizes were well chosen, and in addition to being fun - it helped to bring the questers to important historical sites in Eve, as well as further education about the Eve Universe (as well as some real world trivia).
I look forward to the next event.

Another fun time had by many thanks to Azia.
The good humour and friendly nature of the host and participants are really what makes these endeavours so special. I was one of the lazy bones who just came in what I was currently flying and paid the price, in being alittle slower than the others, and being a fat target on the low-sec sections.
Challenging, fun, rewarding, exciting... and plenty squeaky-bum times!
A big thank you to all the participants for being down right cool. A massive hugthx for Azia who once again brings people together to share in the fun that only Eve can be, and only if we make it!
Make no mistake, fun and laughter aside, these are real competitions, real challenges, with real prizes. Routes were tricky, clues trickier, scanning skills a real boon when tracking down those cans.
This is why we played MMO's in the old days.
If you missed out, you really owe it to yourself to get involved, these events and happenings have been what has really "made" Eve for me in my time.

I missed the event!! :(
Not sure what I was up to at the time. Totally slipped my mind. Till the next time, I suppose. If possible, add me to your contact list, and send me an in-game message whenever you organize another such event.

Edited by: Isonik Umarrio on 15/12/2010 07:38:06 I am so jealous, I love flying around the galaxy and scan-racing for treasure!!! It's kind of my 3rd job here... after t2 bpcs and missions... I just hope to participate in the next one, thank you for offering yet another new exiciting twist to eve (not via lotteries in jita), can't wait to slip through some gate camp while my competitors get new clones!! :D (oh, shameless self plug: custom order bpo's and bpc's, whatever you want, i'll make sure i'm the best price in the multiverse)
