Sometime last year, I made a post here in General Discussion, where I asked the simple question why we, the EvE playerbase, did not get e-mail reminders when our subscriptions are about to expire. I referenced some e-mails I was receiving from a small independent gaming company as an example of its simplicity and how it would benefit EvE.
As can be expected the usual gang of idiots and trolls bombarded the idea for whatever reasons, but at least equally many players stepped forth and supported my claim.
I haven't been very active in EvE for the better part of this year, but to my surprise I received an e-mail this morning from CCP, reminding me that my subscription is about to expire in a few days, and offering several suggestions as to how I might renew it.
For this, CCP gets a thumbs up, for improving their customer relations in a simple but very effective manner.
I know I'm most likely not the first guy to suggest that we should get e-mail notifications, but for a moment let's assume that I was. Then this example of a simple and easy-to-implement improvement for EvE, suggested by a member of the playerbase takes at least 1 year to be added to the game. That is an awfully long time by MMO standards.
So when the time comes that someone does really come up with an awesome and brilliant idea for EvE, and posts it here on the forums, how long can we expect for that idea to reach the game? A year? Two? More? I think this is something worth considering. |

Back in May, when I was on vacation, I received an email stating my account was about to expire... That was 7 months ago...
So what makes you think it takes over a year for a suggestion to be considered/developed/tested/implemented?

I would love to get emails for all my accounts. Right now you only get them if you are paying with timecards. However it would be nice if I could get them with my accounted linked to a credit card as well. I have them linked just in case I forget to buy a timecard and having an extra reminder would be so helpful. That way I will see a new email on my phone or email software and know to buy a timecard!

This question is impossible to answer due to the amount of unknown factors.
The timeframe is anywhere between next patch and never. Depends on how much that needs to be changed, whether the idea was actually good or not, any similar plans they might already have, whether the right person has read it or not etc.
