Is it just me, or has ninja salvaging spiked in the past few weeks?
Is there some sort of patch i'm missing that boosted it?
Don't get me wrong; I'm not here to say "qq omg remove people who mildly annoy me from the game to increase my isk/hour". I'm not that guy.
I'm just curious as to why it has gone from a rare occurrence to "if the mission doesn't take you out of the main system, you will be ninja'd".
I have a friend who ninja salvages, and they'd often have other ninjas coming in to ninja along with them. Not related; they just both scanned the same ship out.
No, none of this happened in motsu or any caldari space.
So, is this unusual, or have ninjas been somehow multiplying? Admittedly, most are just people who steal and bait, with no real intention of salvaging the whole mission. |

If you look the price of the salvage material, then you will know why there are more ninjas. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shields are like pants, they're supposed to come off. Armor is like the condom once its gone ur ****ed |

What is the point of this topic?
People run missions for ISK and ninjas want a slice of that pie. The ones that 'get it' also want a chance to destroy your unnecessarily pimped iskboat. It's good income for noobs while they get some skills up and it's so easy to do it's inevitable.

From short-term experience, it hardly seems to pay well.
I've only had one ninja who actually just salvaged and left; the others all try to bait. Most don't even finish salvaging if they're not shot. They're just looking for an idiot.
This is a relatively new occurance; they're bloody everywhere now. It's always been a thing, but I never had ninjas ninja salvaging on top of other ninjas.
Ninjas ninja-ing ninjas who are themselves ninja-ing ninjas? |

Some scholars believe that there is only one ninja and he is everywhere at once.

where the hell are these ninja salvagers and why do I almost never see them?
I mean I saw one once, he stole some loot and I abandoned the wrecks and he buggered off.
and one other time I saw a buzzard but I think he was looking for someone else that was known to fly the same ship hull I was in, because I saw him for a second then not again, and he didn't go after my loot or anything.

I saw my first ninja in two and a half years a few days ago. Sucked to be him, though, since it was a Guristas mission, and he didn't even go for the Arbalests in the wrecksà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

My hunch is that having a fun time in PvP has become much harder to find in the past few years and so the players have started to innovate their own solution to this gnarly problem.
Most miners are bots so won't respond to being messed with. But most mission runners still have someone sitting at the keyboard so are more susceptible to being goaded into action. As the OP says, most ninja looters aren't interested in the loot, they are hoping to have a fight with the mission runner.
