Could you check it out and tell me what you think of it? Its usefull as it does do its job and saves refreshing the eve-client over and over plus its good to check after a crash or something, anyway be honest guys want to see if this was worth it. your topic was posted 35 minutes ago, do not expect a reply so soon. Most of the community may be at work while browsing the forums thus, unable to reply.
and expect your sig image to get nerfed.

If you learned something, it was worth it.
Now, the image you use for the online/offline status, the font looks blurry to me, makes me think I'm going blind. It's the golden highlights that are the issue.
Get rid of the right click javascript code, anyone with 2 braincells can get around it and get the image anyway.
10 second refresh is a litle much, IMHO. Only the most obsessive Eve player would check every 10 seconds, and they'd be using the client to check because they *are* obsessive Eve players.

I understand your eagerness for feedback on this, and I have to say, you've solved something thats irked me for sometime. I've always had a hardtime finding out if the server was up or not during those occasions when it goes down all of the sudden. So, thank you. I've got your page bookmarked.

Yep, it was worth it. There are other tools which do the same job, but yours looks like a good effort. I agree with the previous poster about the font though.
Your next mission is to write a .NET application that can sit in my tasktray and poll the server every five minutes, changing icon if the server goes down / up / starting / etc.

thousands of people spamming the server for user counts with thier own local prog - sounds like a good idea! Just open eve & check, its running the exact same query any status checker is. As a web based status it looks fine and odes what it needs (and I hope your not syndicating the eve-i feed there)

please reduce the frequency it checks it at to about once a minute. eve-i has a server status display that works in much the same way, except it provides more info. but remember that it's not only just your one webpage checking the eve server. it's all the copies of it running on everyone's PCs everywhere. unless the page copies are checking your website for the status, and your website itself is checking the server, then you've got all these copies checking the server over and over and over. that's a lot of queries for the EVE server to reply to, slows down their response to the clients themselves.
as for myself, i just made eve-i's server status image an active item on my desktop. i just refresh the desktop, and i know instantly whether the server is up, how it's been doing the past couple of hours, how many people are online right now, everything. all without having to load the entire page.

Now you got ME going! Just what I needed, a "real" software project =)
I'll have that taskbar thing made in .NET before the end of the week, probably presenting players online and if your EVE client is up to date, and with a balloon pop-up when the server gets available (if it was down).
How does that sound?
PS. I'll not be syndicating eve-i's status =)

Sounds nice (the code swapping thing). Another feature I was thinking about is automatic patch downloading (and installation) thru "microsoft background file transfer service", and maybe some kind of way to sync local EVE settings over several computers.
As for server load, this probably won't put more stress on the servers than users refreshing the EVE client each three seconds, although I'll have that in mind.
