Incarna has been in development for longer than world war one and yet it seems nothing is known, nothing can be shown, no decisions have been made and the entire enterprise is still in the foggy land of early (or even pre-) development.
And they plan to release next SUMMER?
This depressing exerpt from the CSM summary:
CSM: What can pilots do in the captain‟s quarters? CCP: Nothing had been decided about the actual functionality and it was not possible to commit in any form or fashion to functionalities. CCP turned the question around and asked the CSM what they would be able to do in their quarters? Several things were mentioned; gambling, tactical management, view of the outside of the station (but stations in New Eden don‟t have windows!), access to station services, planetary interaction interface and customization of characters. Realistically this cannot be answered spontaneously so this will remain an open question for the time being.
Note ccp asking the csm what they would like to see.... at this stage? after so many years? even basic functionality hasnt been mapped out?
It begs the question what HAS been done in that case?

They have been developing the actual system itself, which is the main hurdle. All else is a very minor issue in comparison. ===== If you go to Za'Ha'Dum I will gank you. |

Linkage
that CSM Meeting report was featured in its own devblog very recently so it's not unreasonable to expect players to be aware of it.

So, even after PI fiasco you still can't stop with the fanboy shtick when faced with some pretty facepalm-worthy CCP admissions? After more then 4 years in development, and they (may) have a "system"? This better be some pretty damn slick and impressive system that doesn't even include combat. ...

Walking In Station (now Incarna) is, and always has been, a LIE. It has been singularly responsible for keeping thousands of subs active and waiting, so it has been a marketing win.
As the OP points out, even with the (alleged) release for the summer expansion, nominally only six months away, there is no functionality to the entire system.
Place your bets now on multiple delays to release, leading all the way out to when it is finally announced that they system will not be deployed within Eve at all.

Because the avatars won't look like our characters in Incarna, and they want our character to be identifiable in all scenarios?
Just a guess.
Also, OP, give it time. Everyone's asking 1000 things from ccp right now. How about letting them get finished with Incarna, not worrying about it too much, and then everyone else who wants something from CCP (bug fixes, polishing, etc.) can have their turn.

Well it has been several years of developing the engine and how it will interact with EVE, that's the hard part. Adding things after, such as assets and gameplay features, not so hard.
It could be the first installment literally is just walking in stations, but once the base is there, it's all established, opens up a world of opportunities.
Same with PI and Dust, not much to look at now, but in the future it could be expanded into something huge.
Incremental releases opposed to a huge release every 5+ years (Excluding the years taken to build the thing and get it working in the first place).

I do expect to bring some sort of black market, the ability of opening establishments AND a nifty stratetgic war room where you can serve as operator.

They're not. You might be thinking about Dust, though, which uses UnrealEngine 3 + various middleware. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Could you be more specific on "how it will interact with EVE"? I mean, what are the interfaces besides the ISK/market transactions? ...

What I also imagine took a disproportionately massive amount of time was "weaving" Incarna's new functionality into the existing structure of Eve. The equivalent of trying to build a brand new section onto a very old building.
However i have to agree with some of the more negative comments; given CCP's track record of the final product being a shadow of what they promised I'm afraid they won't live up to a summer release. ___________________________________________ The Hero of Kamela The Terror of Tararan The Executioner of Ezzara |

What it means is that if you mission run you need to go out of your ship and walk to the agent's office to get a new mission rather than just having to fly back to the correct station.
Although I am still kinda looking forward to virtual partying in station when I'm not flying around.

Wrong, they've said several times that getting out of your pod will be COMPLETELY OPTIONAL, so you will still be able to talk to agents from your pod. ---- --- ---

they use APEX, so one could argue ~half was written by NVIDIA and will be as playable (if you consider walking in a station as playing) as Mafia2 is (<30fps with APEX turned on on most powerful Nvidia GFX) :-)

1)In the CSM meeting they said they admitted to having ****ed up PI. They had new teams that had never worked together before and it shot all their timelines out the window, and they promise to never let the same thing happen to themselves again.
2)It very much is a damned good system, as you can see by all the demo videos from past fanfests
