I mean, I got 11 days left on it. Will the upgrade give a substantial 500K sp boost?
That way, 40K sp will become 512K sp in 12 hours, rather then 11 days.

Please rephrase your question after you come down a bit.

Edited by: JC Anderson on 02/11/2010 04:17:39 So, was the 11 days left a typo?
If not then you need some implants. ;) Or higher learning skills. Hull upgrades 5 took me around 9 days total from 4 to 5.
In any sense, you'll be happy once it's done training.

You need to train your learning skills more, at least the rank 1 skills to lvl5 and the advanced ones to lvl4 to see a drop in skill training time. ------------------------------------------------ Coming soom or never.sig |

What Argonaught said.
The difference between our training times is due to your (StarsAreMine) learning skills. Spacial : 5 Ana : 5 Recall : 5 Iron Will : 5 Emp : 5 Learning : 5
Clarity : 4 Logic : 4 Eidetic : 4 Focus : 4 Presence : 3
The 1st tier learning skills are fairly fast to train since they are only rank 1. And if you train them to 5 you will see a bit of a difference when training the more time intensive skills.

you get EANM II when done....is worth it, enjoy. Many shield tankers would kill for an all in one passive resist mod that fits easier than invul II. Most of our passive resists suck and only one damage type...only decent ones are type A deadspace stuff :(.

Well he did mention that he had 11 days "left" on the skill. Which I assume means that his total training time from 4 to 5 was greater than 11 days.
My training time for hull upgrades 4 to 5 was between 8 and 9 days from start to finish. I figured that pointing this out to the OP would help him in the long run. Especially since it's multiple days difference and not just a few hours. :)

Forget the training skills, I want to know why the OP thinks he's getting a 500k skill boost in the 'upgrade' ?

i think he's asking if he's going to get a 500k SP worth training reduction in his other skills.
what people dont seem to realize is the benefit from the stats and learning skill, is not immediate. Pushing those skills early on in your character is going to produce more benefit, the longer you play.
So yeah, you may spend the first month doing nothing but stat skills and learning skills... but for anyone who is going to play for more than a few months, these skills will "pay" for themselves.
if you don't think the stats make a big difference, go use the stat optimizer on evemon, built a plan and then compare how long it takes with your current stats, and how long it takes when you start increasing them. The difference is substantial.

learning skills are absolutely the dumbest mechanic in the game, they should be removed from the game, everyone refunded the SP's and weight the adjustable skill points in character traits to reflect the learning. The only thing they do is penalize new players with a load of bull crap and keep them from getting the real skills the need to start really playing the game.
Bunch of @sshats who think this game mechanic is working as intended.

Edited by: Nomad Vherokic on 02/11/2010 21:21:37 Learning skills are okay assuming either an infinte amount of time spent to play or eve was free to play. Otherwise time = money... Skill refund if they are removed is fine too, 5m SP for me... :)
And for anyone training Anal to 5, you need to train Controlled Bursts to 5 also otherwise it'll just end in disappointment... |

The mechanic IS working as intended.
The problem is that the mechanic in itself is seriously flawed and should have never been introduced in the first place. ;)

Shh, don't tell them, they might do something right and change (read: remove) them. And we can't have that.

Learning skills are not mandatory, so if you don't want to train them, you don't have to. Just like most other skills. But wait, you want to fly T2 battle ships ? Then I guess you'll have to train Battle Ship V.
But wait, you want to train it (and other skills) faster ? Then I guess you should train up some learning skills (or plop in some +5 implants. Oh but wait. That would mean having to train another skill, in order to cut down training times. Not too mention it would also be a more expensive way to go. Or you could go all out. Train the Learning/Cybernetics skills, add the implants and really cut down the training time for all the other skills.)
However, if you don't mind training up those skills at a slower pace, then you are under no obligation to train learning skills at all !
This can be applied to most (if not all) other skills in EVE. You want to use T2 Launchers, but don't want to have to train Missile Launcher Operation V ? Too bad for you. You want to use a R&D agent to get Mechanical Engineering Datacores, but don't want to have to train the Mechanical Engineering skill ? Too bad for you. You want higher attributes and faster skill training times, but don't want to train the learning skills ? Too bad for you.

The problem with EvE is that, frequently, and despite your best intentions, you're not always on the giving side.
