Due to an issue with deploying static updates to Tranquility, the deployment of EVE Online Tyrannis 1.1 is delayed. We anticipate Tranquility will be returned to service by 14:50 UTC.

It'd be nice if you'd post the patch so we could pre-patch instead of waiting for uptime to come. You're not changing client code in 30 minutes after all.

Like I said the extended DT is making me lost 3m+ ISK every hour its not back up. They should have just put the old server back up do the work then try it again the next day.
This can fix the problem of people not being happy about the extended DT not to mention it would give you guys more time to make sure its done right and attempt to put the new version up again.

They did change client code already and it may be that change that's affecting the backend - or client-server comm. Releasing a patch before the servers are working may only lead to you having to download a second patch with the final set of fixes. Be patient.

I second this. I live in eastern europe, and it's a hassle that the downtime is always when I am able to play, every single day. I honestly wish they'd change the downtime to favor different timezones every so often. So like, every 6 months they change their DT schedule. Giving the other half of the world a break from constant interruptions.
To me, this seems reasonable enough. Considering that a large portion of their subscribers are Russian, European, British, and Australian.

As sisi and TQ are not duplicate hardware, some anomalies will not show up on sisi testing.
Without an exact mirrored hardware setup, they'll never be able to stop all these happening (that would be expensive though).
I do however wonder that so many of these overrun (if you can't test fully, you make allowances). Set a minimum patch DT for 3 hours- then if it's up early it's a bonus...

All this struggle to support some people's absurd habit of thinking they can use their Mac like a real computer.
Is there any truth to the rumour that during implementation Russian took over the rest of Eve and installed itself as the primary language, while the code, undistracted by players trying to confuse it with lag, consulted the influence map? If so any chance you can just bring up Russian Eve while you figure out how to give it back to the English-speaking world?

Seeing as my thread got locked so fast i thought i would post it again here for giggles :) Whilst i now have time to read the forums whilst waiting for the new patch i decided to come in here and count how many new threads there would be concerning the expected extended unexpectedly extended DT:P Its not new that these thing's dont go according to plan so plan for the expected extended unexpectedly extended DT. If all extended DT's went as expected you would be surpised by the expected extended unexpectedly extended DT.So why do ppl complain about them ? I have managed to have a bath, clean the house, feed the kids i forgot i had . The dog growled and trapped me in the bedroom because it had forgoten who i was. ( I tried to web and scram him but he must have been stabbed as he just wouldnt stay :P The wife asked who i was so i aslo had a shave then she got some photo's out and seems to remember me being at our wedding, I even had a venture outside to remind myself what my door number was and was surprised to notice that the pavement had been repaved since the last time i went out. There is a new Tescos express opened not 50 yards from my house which im sure wasnt on my overview the last time we had a expected extended unexpectedly extended DT. And the looks i got when i asked how much isk a packet of ciggies were :P Seems they dont sell Medium Barrage either :P Keep up the good work CCP and i cant wait for all the RL changes i will find next time we have a patch day :)

Time zone difference give you easterners the **** end of the stick. Complain if you want, but there's no solution to it. CCP works during normal business hours. Unfortunately for you, their normal hours happen to be after your normal hours. Should they start working from 8pm to midnight their time so that you can play during your night and the US peeps get "a taste of your medicine?" It is an unreasonable request. If you want DT to be during your business hours, then play a game based out of a region with the same normal business hours as you.

Scheduling downtime around the hours your employees work really sucks. Can you imagine the staff turnover when the team is told - gee guys, you have to get up at 8:00pm for the next 3 months, and work a graveyard shift, so our customers will stop whining, then in 3 months get up at 3:00 am and work the early shift, then in 3 months a regular day shift, then in 3 months a swing shift. You schedule daily activity in the middle of the night, then change it to the middle of the day, then change it to the early morning, and do this with YOUR LIFE for a year and talk about the timing of downtime.
Of course, if CCP moved to the US, and DT happened at noon-EST (that's about 4/5 pm GMT) you would all complain more because you can't play just as you get off work. So gee, unless they plan on relocating the whole company (yeah right) just suck it up or go play WOW or WOT.
And downtimes have become shorter over the years, btw. Multi-hour daily downtimes were the norm back then, so HTFU

^This. I can't help but cringe at the number of armchair expert's that pop up when these things happen. If you think you'd do a better job of patching a game & cluster this large go give it a try. It is not easy and not *everything* can be tested - more so when your talking about years and years of development work that has gone on - changing things on SiSi can have a totally different impact on TQ due to the sheer difference in numbers of people active on the cluster at any one time.
Instead of whining about it why don't you contribute something to the testing and get on SiSi when there's mass tests and participate - who knows, with the extra people they might find blocking bugs like these.
They do a good job with uptime most of the time, sure it's an inconvenience but damn, it's a game - it's not the end of the world if it's down for longer than you'd like/expected.
If CCP decided to turn around and say "Were having a patch day - downtime starts at 0900 UTC and finishes as 2100 UTC" to cover the chance of something going wrong then either of these would happen; a) People would yell, kick and scream because it's a 12 hour planned window of downtime (much like they do when it overruns) b) Server's would be up early, would then expect the future patches to be up early and then when it's not would yell, kick and scream because they think they are being treated badly
b happens already with the daily downtime - just look what happens from time to time when it overruns by 5 minutes.
(Edit: I'm aware that there's likely to be people that do take part on SiSi so that section isn't at you before you point that out :P) ---------- EVEStuff.net - High Quality Corp & Alliance Web Hosting |

All about taking it for the team...but damn, part of that means the team takes theirs at some point as well.
I'm in New Zealand, and I am happy for the most part to play other games during my peak gaming time because of EVE DT for the most part, but it would be nice if every now and again a patch could be chucked into another TZ window, sick of playing CS:S and trackmania for 4 hours.
I bet they dont patch China at the same time, yawn

Well what do you expect? "Please, please dear customer, would you please, please forgive us for being late?". The only thing about company apologies that really annoys me is the "thank you for you patience and understanding"-phrase, especially when both attributes are clearly not present. You can ask for patience and understanding, but not thank somebody for it before (s)he actually gave it. Not quite sure if CCP actually uses that one though.
Originally by: TriadSte Can you see why people moan?
Because apparently they've got nothing else to do. Now I'm not a CCP fanboy. Imo they could really brush up on their attention for detail and procedure as evidenced by possibly the worst game UI I've ever seen, but unscheduled downtimes are something that is not specific to CCP and not something I'd whine too much about. - Don't let the trolls stop you from giving a helpful reply. :) |

Why don't you try having your Eve time interrupted for an hour or more every single day, for a few months, then see if we are greedy for suggesting a more reasonable DT schedule. But no, you wouldn't understand. You're spoiled to death already and don't see outside the box, and think anything outside the box is simply preposterous. Pathetic.
Why don't you try being a racist **** on some other forums?
LMAO, you really need to revise your definition of racism mate, by your reasoning most commentators at the world cup were being racist every time they mention "the americans, the germans, the argentinians...". To be fair, they honestly do almost always underestimate patching and the extended downtime. It's no biggy for us; just put a longish skill in the queue. But you would think that they would have learned from their own mistakes by now. They don't however, which is pretty hilarious in itself and speaks volumes about their vaunted work processes. I've recently been wondering what other companies think of CCP when they get on their band stand and make presentations about Agile development etc and compare to the company's actual real performance.

1. False, they've given updates. 2. What more do you need to know other than crap ain't workin unless you are one of the people trying to fix the problem? 3. God I love when people post crap like this. You are the snooty people who get pulled over by a cop and tell them they can't give you a ticket, your taxes pay their salary. Government can't make a law you don't like, your taxes pay their salary. You pay money to some entity for some reason, which turns around and then pays people to work for them, therefore you are their boss. Utter bullcrap, arrogance and imperfect logic used by people to make them feel like the big man in charge. Unless you are donating money to a not-for-profit, you are not specifically directing your money to anything. You pay ccp for a game. CCP decides to pay some people out of their money. End of story. Nothing to do with noses up CCP's butt. 4. Put up or shut up. Quit.
And an added note:
http://www.eveonline.com/pnp/eula.asp
Its called the EVE EULA. I'm sure being the big important boss of CCP employees that you are, you've read this in detail since you signed it. In case you did not, I direct your attention to Section 12. NO WARRANTIES. Give it a read, then get back to us. If you dont' like it, then don't sign the EULA and quit the game until they change it.

this is *exactly* how our company's NOC works....new rotating schedule every 90 days in a 24/7/365 office...
in the 3 years i've been with the company, only 2 people have resigned from our department, and it was because they were offered much better compensation packages with other companies...
80% of our staff 15 or so staff, are 2+ year employees...the stragglers are new hires...
so yeah....not a very accurate analogy ;)

Which is something that normally comes in the form of a devblog when they've solved the problem and figured out how and what went wrong.
The one who have the information needed to post such information is hopefully currently busy solving the issue, not writing up an explanation that 1% will read and possibly 0.2% actually understand.
So what we get in the meantime is hopeful guesswork from customer service.

Edited by: Lillith Starfire on 30/09/2010 15:57:27 I hereby give notice I will open a new burger restaurant and sell Eveburgers. When the recipe is updated some of the ingredients may get stepped on by accident or the burgers may fall on the floor. But they will be picked up and put together. You might not get mayo. Even if you foolishly are led to believe you will. Also your cola is now orange. You may get butthurt on the way out. If you are even let in to begin with. After I take your money.
I expect all the people above who rush to defend CCP to come feast at my restaurant! Then tell everyone complaining how great my restaurant is. Or make their own Eveburgers!
On a serious note there have been multiple problems and delays with recent updates. It makes me wonder how much real testing actually goes on before making it live? Why not use the full hour for each update instead of rushing to get it back before one hour. For bigger updates schedule more hours if need be to make sure it is 100%

1. Right now CCP are leaving us hanging
2. No decent info has been given out to us about what this problem is but we all know its the database and the logs show feck all.
3. WE DO PAY YOUR WAGES - Thers nothing more true to that comment.
4. WITHOUS US EVE goes down the drain because you'll not have the multi million per month income.
Taking note of points 3 and 4 you'd think CCP would keep us "sweet" instead of what's happening right now.
If this was a company other than a video game company CCP would have gone bankrupt because of total lack of trust in the customer base who would have gone elsewhere to find there service needs.
CCP need to think real hard how to come out on top on this one because right now from reading these boards i see mostly 80% anger and frustration and 20% people who I will refer to my opening sentence.
P.S. damn you Prisma Prime, you linked it while I was typin this :)

Upgrading the server to a new version is a zillion times more complicated than applying a patch to a client. The devs are working their ***** off to get yours in the game. So much wining because of a few hours delay ... shows how much everyone loves this game. -------------------------------------------------------

Your such a dumb-ass to have posted that, So our sub doesn't go into the CCP company bank account? and hold on, peoples salaries don't come from that same bank account?

Also I really think CCP should add gametime equal to the time lost with these frequent "critical issues" that seem to pop up every single time... You miss the mark by 4h, we get +4h gametime. Or we get ISK based on the current plex price for gametime.

well, i'll noticed that eve comes more and more like "WoW". I hate it and hopefully CCP never wanna be like Blizzard or the End is near.
The Downtime & Patching Problem is old and simular to other Online Game. Just dont understand the "Patchwork" of them.... Our Company is holding many Databases & Software Clients for Banks. If we "patch" something we have our "Testing Server" for it and also "Testing Clients". New Features / Changes gots tested over 1 Week for running stable. Even the Patchways and fast-switch methods for the Public Upgrade gots tested before. Many Steps until our Partners gets informed about the new "stable" Version and are able to upgrade.
Well...., EVE's Sources & DB is not different to many projects who understand how to "patch secure & FAST!".
Anyway..., good luck ^^

LOL. No, I don't kiss the ground ccp walks on. I think they should come up with more reasonable DT estimates, but at the end of the day it is a game so whatever. I think they need to fix lag problems, but if it is so bad I don't want to play, I'll stop playing instead of complaining on the forums. And no, you don't get to say you pay ccp employees unless you cut them a check with your name on it, simple as that. if you tried to go to a court case based on the fact you pay ccp employees, a judge would throw you out. And btw, be careful about wanting credit for paying employees. By law, if you are paying them, then they are your employees, which means you are liable for them. So next time a ccp programmer runs over someone while running an errand on the clock, direct the victim to this thread so they know who to take to court. Unless you are liable for the employees, they aren't yours. And if they aren't yours, you aren't payng them.
Plus an edit: thanks for the above additions of "you pay for a service" and "there might be shareholders." Just some more reasons why you paying their salaries is utter bullcrap.

Every company within every industry is its own situation. You can't say "companies x, y and z would fire n number of people and give f amount of free stuff to unhappy customers, therefore every company in the world, ccp included, must follow the same path." The world is not black and white. And the tech world is the one that is going to have the most volitility.

But hey thats me.
Banning anyone for voicing their own opinion is a terrible thing to do. People pay for this game and have a right to complain about it not working. If you do not like reading people complaining perhaps you should remove yourself from the forums. Freedom of speech is a very basic right.
You do have a very good point. a good % of people on here would have been banned and that's a godo chunk of money out of CCP's pocket. The way I see it yes they work to get it up and running but when things take longer then they say it will at first. They should say it will take about 2 to 3 hours. It makes it even worse with the DT is 3+ hours. I work 12 hours a day on my feet lifting and moving heavy things. Yes I enjoy playing this game but $16/month to play a game that I work hard for I would like to see them try to get their things right and together so that they don't have these DT. Them not having things done right when they do testing makes me think that they might think about not doing any testing. If they want to do testing maybe they should have a testing server built just like the main server. Eve has been around for how long? the server hits around 50k every day when I log on do the math that's around $750,000 per month plus unknown amount of PLEXs that people have bought that haven't been used yet. With thoes numbers yes we do have a right to complain that they don't have things setup right for the amount of money that is going into their pocket. They should work on getting the testing version as close as to the full version is going to be so that they aren't going to have these kind of DT.
Yay and yet a longer delay in the server start up time 18:00.
Now I'm realy hoping they give us SP for the long un-expected DT.

ok lets face it updates and upgrades are a necessary evil. i have played this game for years now to many to count and this seems to happen more and more frequently. the game seems to encounter more bugs than i can keep up with. but i love eve and its community so i endure. its been a known fact since the early days that when such a patch is announced you prepare with a long training que. however that does nothing to compensate the players for lost game play. in a virtual community as in real life players should be compensated for lost game play time. i suggest ccp work out a general hourly isk potential for players to compensate for lost game time. i don't believe this is far fetched especially since ccp has tightened the isk potential belt in the game in the last year. players a working harder and harder to make isk in game today so the impact of these down times is far greater.
that bieng said im sure it is the hope of every eve player that one day these downtimes are minimized and less frequent but for today we live with the system we have at hand.

Originally by: Cifese Can you imagine the staff turnover when the team is told - gee guys, you have to get up at 8:00pm for the next 3 months, and work a graveyard shift, so our customers will stop whining, then in 3 months get up at 3:00 am and work the early shift, then in 3 months a regular day shift, then in 3 months a swing shift. You schedule daily activity in the middle of the night, then change it to the middle of the day, then change it to the early morning, and do this with YOUR LIFE for a year and talk about the timing of downtime.
this is *exactly* how our company's NOC works....new rotating schedule every 90 days in a 24/7/365 office...
in the 3 years i've been with the company, only 2 people have resigned from our department, and it was because they were offered much better compensation packages with other companies...
80% of our staff 15 or so staff, are 2+ year employees...the stragglers are new hires...
so yeah....not a very accurate analogy ;)
So you work different shifts every quarter? And this was thrust upon you and your 14 coworkers by your employer after having been working a day-shift only for oh, say seven years? And nobody left because they had a family and a life, and didn't want to screw all that around?
I'm calling bull.
You work in a NOC, probably as support, and when you got hired the place probably already operated 24/7 with various shifts. People are suggesting moving daily downtime to other timezones, rotating throughout the world. I'm saying that MAKING that change will cause turnover.
I'm going to guess that no-one (or maybe 1-2 people) who works with you might remember a time where your operation was 8/5.
CCP doesn't run daily downtime with the night shift because if there is an issue they have to call in the cavalry - which is their dayshift employees. (please avoid snide comments about the cavalry - unless of course you work on one of the largest server clusters in the world). The suggestion to rotate downtime is basically the suggestion to tell the day shift that they are now a rotating shift, every three months or so, to a new schedule. I'm saying from experience (of drastic schedule changes for folks who lived an 8-5 job) that that would cause a lot of turnover.
bah. i've been trolled into writing too much...

no snide comments about the cavalry incoming...i appreciate the code monkey's work, because it means i don't have to do it...(and yes i have worked in a fairly large server cluster environment...i spent 2 years being the hardware monkey for the MS Hotmail & Live Search clusters...not fun :( )...
it's not a suggestion to tell day shift "congrats your life is now ours"...it's a suggestion to say that the maintenance *could* be rotated on a weekly/monthly/whatever schedule, with enough notice...jumping out next week and saying "oh btw!" probably(definitely) wouldn't fly...but throw enough notice in there, and you'd probably be surprised at the response...particularly if it wasn't the entire staff that was necessary, and only a skeleton crew...
plenty of companies have on-call employees to assist on 24/7 support, what's to stop a gaming company that does weekly updates on software from doing the same thing?...
plenty of other MMOs(i'm not stating WoW, because I would imagine their cluster environment warrants a full-time night staff maintenance crew, and not the setup that most MMOs support) run patches during "business closed" hours...why does CCP have to be any different?...
of course, with that being said, i personally don't care about the downtime, and i grasp that it's a necessary evil for persistent world games....i'm not one of the crying minority that thinks it's such a huge problem....
Originally by: Cifese bah. i've been trolled into writing too much...
and no, it wasn't a troll...it was my own perspective and experiences, and also the viewpoint of someone with a little more rational opinions than the "WHAR'S MAH ESSPEES?!?!?" screaming :)
oh, and fyi, for the people claiming that all of these tons of people are complaining...
how many people are happy with the way the system works, and don't care about the downtime, that *DON'T* post on the forums?...
the silent populace is always greater than the vocal minority...

It will update automatically when you start the client once they work through whatever critical issues they are having; the server does not need to be online for the client to start patching.

If someone could figure out a way to harness the energy from people spinning in place, CCP would be one of the greenest companies on the planet.
EVE has had patches and DT's for 6 years. Extended "real life" time is to be expected at this point. If you think otherwise, that would lead me to the conclusion you are intentionally deluding yourself.
CCP has ~500 employees making $50 million a year alone on the 300k subscriptions. You get to use the output of those ~500 employees for ~15 bucks a month. Giving them a few extra hours here and there is not that big a deal really.
Perhaps CCP should just schedule 24 hours straight in advance with the community. That way when they are up and running 13 hours later everyone will cheer and praise them for doing an outstanding job.
The people whining the most are the biggest addicts. No mater how much they rage, those are the people most likely to stay subscribed until CCP shuts down the servers.

/agree if ccp just lied and said 24 hours DT and brought it back up early they would avoid so much QQ.
but then again i enjoy extended DT so i can come on the forums and read all the said QQ :P. i do remeber a extended downtime one when the forums were off too that sucked :(
CCP please try to find a way to bring servers back before my skill finished in 19 days :O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So here we all are playing a game where skill means time and time means patience, a game where the longer you play the more skill you have and of course the harder it becomes to leave said game. Eve is designed as a hook that digs in deeper and becomes sharper and more barbed as time goes by.
So you have all learnt to be patient, so carry on doing what you do best and oh give us some free SP (because thats whats really important).

you know...
all of this butthurt could be fixed with one simple solution...
if people would get rid of this sense of entitlement, and accept that patch day is a volatile day, people would be much happier with the situation...
here's a clue for people who don't work in the IT industry or think that computers are all plug and play...
no amount of testing in a test environment will accurately reflect what will happen when converting new software to a live production environment...
no deployment goes off without a hitch...there are *always* problems...some are easy fixes, some take several hours...
get over yourselves, and quit thinking that CCP owes you their left nut...

it's not about being an apologist...
it's about being in the environment and realizing that crap happens, and things don't go the way you plan them to....
and also realizing that no matter how much someone whines and complains(read:you), it doesn't help fix the problem any faster...
oh wow, you lost some game time during a PLANNED OUTAGE...big freaking deal...go out and spend time with your family instead, go out and see the sun, read a book, wash the dishes, be productive, and detach from your computer for an hour...

19.00 yea.. very nice. good thinking to still announce your patching way too short beforehand and keep addicted people in agony in front of theire keyboards. next time maybe announce it to take say 10 hours even if you are pretty sure you can do it in 5 tops. not a bad idea eh?

I would be completely happy, if they originally would say 24.00 UTC. If the serv goes up at 19.00, nobody would cry. I really dont understand the fact, that CCP seems to be unable to learn. Unable to learn to actually quit predicting overoptimistical timetables.

This is like the train companies, who tell you the train will be 10 minutes late, then after 10 minutes they say it will be another 10 minutes, then again and again till you are an hour and a half late for work when you could have just got a taxi and been 10 minutes late.

- 50mil isk
- 100k skillpoints
- $0.006 credited to my account for missing gametime
- CCP's left nut (credit to an earlier poster for that one)
- Adida's first AND second born, to be turned into slave macrominers
- The disbandment of Goonswarm
If these demands are not met, I will cancel my one (1) account and thus deprive CCP of their income. Oh, and blah blah blah Tuxford's fault.

Nice to see that nothing changes, simple updates are botched. Server migrations are done without fail safe backups and restore plans. Exploits abound that bork the in game economy. Expansions with content the player base really did not want that breaks the game we do want. Customer service that is loaded with Failsauce.
But hey we get music videos and tons of blogs explaining how awesome it all is.

Coordinated Universal Time
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from UTC)
Not to be confused with Greenwich Mean Time.
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is a time standard based on International Atomic Time (TAI) with leap seconds added at irregular intervals to compensate for the Earth's slowing rotation. Leap seconds are used to allow UTC to closely track UT1, which is mean solar time at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich.
The difference between UTC and UT1 is not allowed to exceed 0.9 seconds so, if high precision is not required, the general term Universal Time (UT) may be used.
In casual use, when fractions of a second are not important, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) can be considered equivalent to UTC or UT1. Saying "GMT" often implies either UTC or UT1 when used within informal or casual contexts. In technical contexts, usage of "GMT" is avoided; the unambiguous terminology "UTC" or "UT1" is preferred.
Time zones around the world can be expressed as positive or negative offsets from UTC as in this list; UTC replaced GMT as the basis for the main reference time scale or civil time in various regions on 1 January 1972.
UTC does not change with a change of seasons, but local time or civil time may change if a time zone jurisdiction observes daylight saving time or summer time. For example, UTC is 5 hours ahead of local time on the east coast of the United States during winter, but 4 hours ahead during summer.
Hope this helps.

Entitlement? Isn't that something that you get for free and then think it should keep coming?
That's the problem with software companies. They forget there is this entity called "CUSTOMERS" that pay for their products. FAIL product - No customer - No JOB.
You go to the store and get spoiled milk - you don't complain? I bet you complain and then go to different store.
I didn't see any issues in the release log that were panic fixes that needed to be rolled out immediately. All the b-hurt can be fixed by more rigorous/innovative testing. I've seen multiple companies fix their software quality and release issues. They just have to want to do it.
Time to fall back to a different game (aka company)
Originally by: Ataxis you know...
all of this butthurt could be fixed with one simple solution...
if people would get rid of this sense of entitlement, and accept that patch day is a volatile day, people would be much happier with the situation...
here's a clue for people who don't work in the IT industry or think that computers are all plug and play...
no amount of testing in a test environment will accurately reflect what will happen when converting new software to a live production environment...
no deployment goes off without a hitch...there are *always* problems...some are easy fixes, some take several hours...
get over yourselves, and quit thinking that CCP owes you their left nut...

but despite the fact that your "comparison" is invalid, since grocery stores don't run software maintenance on their milk bottles, and their products are not subjected to period downtimes...what happens if i return the milk, and they are sold out and they don't know when they're going to get their shipment in?....then i get a raincheck, or my money back....at that point, i can decide to continue shopping at said store, or take my money elsewhere...
(btw, if you're so upset and butthurt over "customer service"...why do you continue spending money here?)
what i *DON'T* do...is continue crying and whining to the store about when they're going to their milk in, and demand compensation because they can't tell me what i want to hear...
in fact, in most stores, if that were to happen...
the store would call security, and have you escorted from the property....
shame that CCP doesn't have "bouncers"
ps...fyi - entitlement has nothing to do with the cost of something...it has everything to do with someone feeling as if they have a right to something...

A pint in the Fox and grapes followed by a Vinnie Jones film, life just doesn't get any better than this.

I got "python exception error" during patching process. Thanks CCP for a good reason to download full installer again.

You turn something complex that really isn't - customer satisfaction is very simple. Just because there is complexity around or in a product it is not an excuse for a product to be shoddy.
The customer is always right. So many businesses forget that until they no longer have customers. Yeah, bouncing paying customers out of the store... great business sense there.
Every time CCP violates set expectations -> SET BY CCP <- they loose credibility. So yes, every time a piece of software fails I re-evaluate if I should spend more money with that company.
BTW - stores do run maintenance on their milk products. Actually on all their products. Go spend a day (24 hours) at the store and watch what happens to every single product on the shelves.

Originally by: Dirk3672 You go to the store and get spoiled milk - you don't complain? I bet you complain and then go to different store.
you know...your example would be very valid...
if i had signed a EULA contract with the store outlining purchase and usage of said milk bottle...
but despite the fact that your "comparison" is invalid, since grocery stores don't run software maintenance on their milk bottles, and their products are not subjected to period downtimes...what happens if i return the milk, and they are sold out and they don't know when they're going to get their shipment in?....then i get a raincheck, or my money back....at that point, i can decide to continue shopping at said store, or take my money elsewhere...
