I'm an experienced T1 manufacturer, and have trained up to Spreadsheets V. I'm pretty good at figuring out the margins on T1 products (including the cost of the BPO / BPC, market costs, transportation costs). Anyone have a good example of a T2 spreadsheet that factors in the chance of invention _not working_?
I just ran my first invention job, and it failed. It was sad, but it was low cost. I plan on running it again, but I'd like to know how many times I should re-try before the job goes upside down.
My gut feeling is to switch the spreadsheet around to focus on individual end to end jobs - tracking costs as I go, rather than creating a general purpose spreadsheet that helps me figure out whether a T1 job is profitable. Is going more granular on a job the right way to track T2 invention / manufacturing?
(Also - I could just buy T2 BPC contracts...but that's less fun) |

I do it this way:
C == Per unit invention cost on a module B == Base cost of 1 invention run P == Percent chance of success as a decimal(50% == .50 75% == .75, etc) R == # of runs per success
C = B / (P*R) or C=B/P/R
There ya go.

This is great, thanks...is the number of runs per success consistent? From the docs, it seems like it's random?

Yes and no. Depends on the input BPC you're using, plus any run-modifying decrypters you use.
Assuming a 1-run BPC (say a frigate -- I assume they're 40%)
C = B / (0.4 * 1) |

I do module invention so that is consistent at 10 per successful invention.
If you add in decryptors, my formula still works, as decryptors affect runs output and success chance. |

I use the program linked in my sig but use the logic above as well.
There are a lot of factors to consider though and many sheets etc do not. Ie copy costs. Maximze your Industry Potential! - Get EVE Isk per Hour! |

A little detail behind the formula mentioned above.
-Base Costs primary data core cost + secondary data core cost + decryptor cost + BPC cost
-Chance of Success Base Chance of Success - depends on what you are inventing x Decryptor modifier x skill modifiers = (1 + encryption skill level * 0.01)*(1 + primary science skill level * 0.02 + secondary science skill level * 0.02)
-Run on result T2 BPC Base Runs + Decryptor Bonus Runs |

Thanks Captain Carlcomogasm, that is a more detailed way to describe the vars. |

Only if you use max-run BPCs :) |
