Edited by: theRaptor on 31/12/2004 12:00:35 This is a method of making instawarp bookmarks that will yield perfect instawarps 90% of the time.
1. Warp to gate at 15K.
2. As soon as you begin to drop out of warp start pressing the "set full speed" arrow.
3. Open people and places and make a bookmark once you are roughly 9K past the stargate.
You will have to make manual adjustments due to some situations where you either hit the gate and bounce to far out of alignment, or when warping at a steep angle.
Other then that you should have near perfect BM's with none of the effort of fiddling around trying to manually align your ship. --------------------------------------------------

Ok.
I dont really get step 2 tho. I picture you frantically clicking away when still coming out of warp etc.
Gates have huge radiuses, going off a little to the left or right or top or bottom isnt gonna hurt your BM at all.
Matter of fact, its the best way to ensure your instaBM doesnt end up warping you inside of the gate, unable to warp out if need be when the gate refuses you while you are under fire.
Aside from all that, insta's are quite easy to make, and I think most people know that. _______________________________________________

Probably means "do not select approach but just increase your speed, and make sure that the alignment of your ship does not change from the alignment after coming out of warp".

This is the easiest and quickest way to make instawarps. And no it doesnt matter if you are a little off, but you really want to be around 1K from the gate (to account for ships that take a while to stop when coming out of warp).
This method is about 2-3x faster then the manual method, and far easier (as you dont have to bother trying to keep your ship aligned properly). --------------------------------------------------

I think
You just click the "set full speed" arrow that is to the right of the speed bar, just as your ship is about to drop out of warp. You will maintain perfect alignment along the vector that you warped at. --------------------------------------------------

Edited by: MaiLina KaTar on 31/12/2004 12:37:23 I usually make em in a rifter. When dropping out of warp I doubleclick just above the gate and activate MWD once. That will shoot me just past the gate. I keep my cam on the gate and adjust the cam angle a bit so that the gate's icon stays in the middle of the screen. When flying past the gate I correct my course downwards a little bit depending on whatever direction I came from. At 9-10km I make the BM.
This drops me 1 - 1.5km above or below the gate. It also goes very fast... usually doesn't take longer than a minute or so. Actually it works so well that when making them I never doublecheck because so far this method hasn't failed me at all.

Thats my trick!!, no it works well, but i tend to set 12k as it puts you just behind the gate or station after the warp. ( Can be handy if your gonna come under fire.

When setting up insta's in a system, always place a safe spot between the in & out gates. Both gate insta's will still work making it hard to trap you in the sysem, also you will be able to scout the nme forces as they warp past you and briefly showup in the overview....
While providing a safe exit, it can also be used for splitting squads, and ganking the slowest ship in the nme squad

Yup this is EXACTLY my method (and ship I use) too.

Almost my method, except I always test the BM before I view it as a 'valid' BM. Takes more time, but I can say I've tested them.

Try this, I can get my ship within 50M of where I want 100% everytime. (I used to be able to drop my ship right in the gate..before Exodus.)
Set your auto pilot to your end point (next system or where ever) when you come outta warp click above or just below the gate (autopilot will deactivate) Now heres the trick. Drop a "can" at the point you want to exit from warp, trust me if you follow my directions you'll exit no more than 50 meters from the spot you drop that can. Lock the can, continue past the gate, as you near the 14KM point from the can slow down. Once the range turns 15km...STOP. Grab a BM from the "People and Place" (not on the can you dropped but for the position you stopped at) Warp back to the gate you just came from and try out the BM. I normally name my BM for the direction I'm going Example: -->Nonni and if I'm going the other way -->New Caldari. If I am in a "cross roads" system where I have differnt BM to the same gate from differnt systems I do this Ishikemi-->Nonni & Nuken-->Nonni Makes right clicking quick and easy to find your BM direction
(If you drop the can inside the gate and the angles are right you might in a shuttle or frigate be able to exit warp inside the gate. Its alot harder with the new collision detection..but it will happen every once in awhile. Its also fun to try.)
Hope this make traveling long distances more bearable.

around 14km doesnt hurt either, if your not directly behind the gate.

I like to come out right below the gate simply because I fly cloakships sometimes. I usually have more than one set of bookmarks because of this. Also I find most gate denizens tend to prefer to perch above gates for some reason. Maybe I'll get a lucky misclick or my pod will be harder to find. Or something. |

do step 3 at 12k, you can then use the BM at 15, 20 and 30km warp to. handy for those of you who have a different default (originally designed for the castor days of being drunk and clicking the wrong distance in a hurry) ---
Was it good for you? |
