Is it just me or do rockets fail for one thing they dont even have enough dmg every other missle is double what the one below is! light missles 75 dmg heavys 150 dmg cruise 300 and so on rockets have 25 it should be atleast 37.5 dmg I also think ships with rocket bonuses should have velocity and explosion velocity dmg bonuses and they should hit out atleast 22 to 25 km's with ships that have thier bonuses(or atleast with javelyn rockets!)

Well that's good news for my newest alt that's training towards flying a Vengeance. I was still trying to figure out if I'd be better off with lasers, smartbombs, or proj weapons on it lol.

Well that's good news for my newest alt that's training towards flying a Vengeance. I was still trying to figure out if I'd be better off with lasers, smartbombs, or proj weapons on it lol.
I can use a Hawk, Vengeance, Kestrel, Merlin, Tristan, Breacher, Hookbill, to name a few. Now I actually got hope for these frigs (well, maybe not the Breacher) :).
If Vengeance will still be best fitted with guns remains to be seen, but I got hopes at least :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IMHO!!!!!!
As noted, there is motion in play to improve rockets, but I haven't really experienced a huge problem with them. I end up using rockets a lot on my Rifters. A rocket does about 1/3rd the damage of a light missile BUT rocket launchers tend to fire at least 2x as fast as a missile launcher, and their explosion radius is better. It's kinda like the diff between autocannons & artillery, IMHO -- damage is smaller, but ROF is higher...

To be fair, drones are the primary weapon on the Worm. And for -- and I hate to say this -- PvE, standard missile fits do in fact work out alright.
This of course makes it the only PvE-oriented faction frigate, but, well, rockets really do suck and until otherwise noted it's stuck that way.
(And I just finished going from Rockets 2 to Rocket Spec 4 a month or so ago. These changes had better a) happen and b) be worth it.)

I've already bought up a bunch of Hookbills in anticipation of a good change. If the changes end up being awful, oh well. Dual web on any frigate is still cool. Fix Rockets in '08 '09 2010 2011 2012?! |

I just think if they were able to fix the problem people would stop putting SM's on things like the malidiction or the vengeance heres my wish list for rockets tell me what you think? -t2 high velocity and exp velocity rockets to keep up with fast ships -t2 javelins for distance maybe up to 35kms with ship bonuses -faction for dmg 37.5 dmg atleast

Okay, forum settings fail on my part, I didn't notice/realize the forums on that PC weren't set up to use my main. My alt is only there because I was debating having my photo changed (not much of an alt, is it, that I use the same name and added the German word for "2" to the end, eh?)
Anyways, as people who can read can see, I never said I use 2 RLs on my Rifters. I said I use RLs a LOT, in the launcher slot.
Now that I'm in a spot to actually bring up some numbers, let's take a look.
Rocket Launcher has an RoF of 4s by default, Standard Missile Launcher is 15s.
A rocket has a damage output of 25HP, a light missile is 70HP.
So, simple math, 25HP/4s = 6.25 dps. 70HP/15s = 4.667 dps. Going by straight dps, you are better off with a rocket launcher if you're within 4500m of your target.
Explosions aren't just dps, though, because you have to take into account explosion velocity and blast radius.
Light missiles have an explosion radius of 50m -- if your sig radius is smaller than that, you're not doing full damage. Rockets only have a radius of 20m -- smaller than any frigate, AFAIK.
The explosion velocity surprised me, though, because rockets only have an explosion velocity of 85m/sec, whereas standard light missiles are at 170m/sec.
*That's* where rockets are getting shafted. Rockets should have an explosion velocity higher than 85 (heavy missiles, for reference, have an explosion velocity of 81m/sec!). Sounds like maybe someone left a "1" off the front of that number (ie. should be 185m/sec, not 85m/sec).
So, aside from the explosion velocity being a potential problem, rockets are superior DPS to missiles when close in. Whether that makes them on par with autocannons, blasters, etc, dunno.
