So just to be clear... IF someone got lost in WH space, or ended up stuck out in null with something expensive and didnt want to run the risk of trying to get home. (Just hypotheticals). They could park the ship in a safe spot, logout, unsub the account for the six months, and then the ship magically appears back at your clone station when you re-sub?
and also... So this is the method I use to get my supercaps into high-sec... except it only takes 6 months... interesting.

I wouldn't go as far as attribute the whole process to magic but that is the general gist of it. I'm personally pretty sure that the loss of 6 months is greater than the loss of most ships but it's not brain surgery to amend the process if it turns out that we're losing subscriptions because people do not want to lose their ships. ~ Prism X EvE Database Developer Relocating your character to a cozy, secure container since 2006. Not magic? My appolgies, dark arts then?
You're probably right that a ships hull is not worth 6months. However I could imagine some cargo that you might pick up after living out in 0.0 MIGHT not be worth risking loosing. So park it somewhere, switch to an alt account for the period of unsubbing, and you've successfully dodged every bubble and camp between 0.0 and jita.... Just some devious thoughts brewing in my mind now.

Considering that the ship has to stay un-piloted in space for 6 month and given the current limitations to safe-spots, I really doubt you will see your ship, loaded with officer mods, ever again.
Also 6 month should be more than enough to train for a jump freighter and a cyno alt (or a cloaky transport or a bubble safe T3 or ....)

Good question, what about ships that are not allowed in hi-sec if your clone station is in hi-sec - does this mechanic also apply if you log off while in the ship and then unsub for 6 months??

I don't think we are talking about logging off while inside the ship. We talk about un-piloted ships, as I understood it.
Also, I heard somewhere that any cap ship that engages in combat in hi-sec is automatically moved to low sec immediately. So it could be possible to bring a cap ship via this trick, but it would be required to stay out of combat. However, I have no source for this and it might be an universe-legend.
Maybe Prism X can enlighten us, since he seems to be the magician behind all the moving.

So... to confirm:
Step 1: Build/buy/steal a carrier/dread somewhere (out of high sec) Step 2: Set up a POS in system Step 3: Board said capital with alt account, fly ship to POS, and leave ship Step 4: Set alt's clone system to desired delivery location Step 5: Unsub alt's account Step 6: Wait 6 months - use main account to keep POS fueled Step 7: Resub alt's account, and sell high sec capital at 5-10x regular price Step 8: Repeat with a new delivery location Step 9: Laugh at the people paying a premium for 'rare' high sec capitals. Step 10: ???
c/d?

IF CCP would actually move caps to hi sec during this process, they would probably stop doing that after you've established such a business.
I found a source for the claim that CCP would move aggressive caps to low sec: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=952500&page=1#21
That guy owns/owned an Archon in Sobaseki, as can be seen a few posts up in that thread, so he should know the deal with CCP. |

Just to sum things up, I got out luckily as stated. The next day however, I went in to a wormhole with the same ship (a Proteus btw), warped to a Sleeper site I shouldn't have, and got popped.
I might add I paid a lot to get out of the wh, basically because I thought such stupidity actually should hurt. It wasn't, however, a cure for said stupidity.

The only thing that could make this thread better is if Pixmo told us how much he paid to get out.

Less than for the ship with fittings ;).
OK, 450m. But 300m of those was just because I was nice.

I was in one for almost 2 months. Luckily I was director and we had an abandoned tower in there. Renamed it 'help' with my alts account I played on and had about 5 hits in a week. Finally one asked to do it for free and I was out in lowsec in one piece :-D. If you're gonna pod yourself eventually I can see doing that with the ship ur in and logging in a pod

Dreads and Carriers are gonna start making mass appearances in high-sec 6 months from now!

Edited by: Aloe Cloveris on 25/10/2010 20:46:28 Leaving ships adrift (in a safespot, of course!) is actually very clever and will spook people like myself who run anomalies when I see them on d-scan. If someone did this in, say, Reblier, I'd never be able to confidently rat again.

Once in real life after drinking 17 beers, I got lost in a stall in a womens washroom. I finally got rescued when I heard the woman in the next stall taking a dump and I started gagging in my deep male voice and she yelled for security...
