Hi all, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the price of nanite control. After some checking, I understand that it is because the skillbook only spawns in rare sites.
I understand that 300 million ISK (current market price) is not such a big deal for some, and a huge deal for others. My wallet-situation is somewhere in between (it's a lot, but not unaffordable).
My question: how useful is the skill in practice? Does it help a lot during PvP?
Thanks!

I've recently bought it, but then i have too much isk, and figured "Hey, once i've used it, it can never be lost" unlike the majority of things you buy in EVE. ----------------------

No idea, I bought mine just because I could
You can save quite some money if you put up a buy order instead of buying it from a sell order. Most sell orders are around 300M (in pretty much all regions), I bought mine for 230M - it took just 5 hours to fill. (It might be an interesting item for margin trading, but the volume is really low so personally I don't think it's worth it.)

Thanks for the replies!
It's strange that such an expensive skill does not seem to have a correspondingly important use.

If you use boosters and have the ISK, then it's a no brainer.

Generally, since it's a booster related skill it's usually most useful for capital pilots or pirates. It's useful for anyone that wants to dabble in boosters but be careful about them because non-synth boosters can get you fined and confiscated by customs in highsec.
Overheating is far more common than booster usage for subcap pilots.

Personally, I always laughed at people who didn't use overheating, now it's become a lot more common.
But now I'm laughing at all the people who still don't use boosters. Price wise they are a lot more cost effective then most faction/deadspace gear/ammo when looking for a little extra.
It took time for people to catch on the importance of overheating. I suppose it will take time for people to catch on how useful boosters are. Although they've been around for ages, so I don't know what the hold up is.

One of my thoughts for the generic question: "Is it worth it ?"
I figure its goin to get down to one close fight somewhere, and that extra 5, or 10% will save my ship. Or at least help kill the other guy's ship before I go down. In those times I always think: "Hell yeah it was worth it!"

Is it worth it?
If you go pewpew and use boosters, Yes it is. Aswell as its sister skill neurotoxin recovery. Having both at V, newer regretted it. Makes those Bluepills of mine soooo much more fun to use :)

If you're stumbling over the price tag then you'll probably find the price of the boosters themselves to be a bit much, and there are probably other areas where more SP could benefit you.
I did a drug effect spread sheet a while ago that will help you see what the effects of the skill are.
