I have been thinking about putting up a POS in highsec ( 0.7 ), mainly for the sole reason that I have never done so before ( Mt Everest mentality ), and have ISK to burn. But I dont want to throw money away for no potential gain, so I might as well make use of said POS to try to make some ISK. I have a solo ( +alt ) corp with the required standings for 0.7 space.
I presume a medium or large POS is needed to give it some reasonable defense? How probable is it that a medium POS will be targeted and destroyed by random haters? Would the 24 hour notice of a wardec be enough time to take the POS down and transport everything to a station?
Can it be profitable enough to buy up some blueprint originals, and use the POS for researching said blueprints, and then selling off for profit?
Are there any other uses a solo corp can use a POS for, for profit?
Thanks for any help.

That usually depends on how much you run your mouth in local. If you keep quiet and don't smacktalk 99% of people will never care.

Yes

Do your research. Yes there are BPOs worth doing this with, but no one will tell you which ones

Bascialy you only need a large tower for thoes times when someone wardecs you.
and to be honest if someone is wardecking you because you put up a tower then you probably already screwed up someplace before you put up the large tower in the first place.(or you got unlucky and ran into someone with money to burn and is incredibly bored out of there skull and/or honestly thinks that bombing a large tower without supercaps is fun)
seems like most towers that get wardecked nowdays are ones that were abanoned and people just want that moon slot for whatever reason.

I used to run a "personal" tower. The reason I set it up in the first place was the (looooooonnnnnngggg) research queues for ME and copy slots at public labs. Since it was just me using it, I hung a Caldari small and three mobile labs. Nothing else was there, no defenses at all. The idea was that if we got a war-dec, I'd just yank it all down for the duration. I ran it for about 6 months, by which time I'd completed all my blueprint research I needed done. Then, since I didn't see the point in paying for fuel when I wasn't using it, I took it back down again. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

So you dont start at last minute and get cout by hostiles blinking red in middle of offlineing tower.
And if you have stuff on those structures, remember to allow some time to houl them empty.
I call it consistency plan.

Once you've researched up your BPOs, copy them at your POS. Then run invention on the copies.
Some systems (particularly those which are also mission hubs) may have their public factory slots filled regularly - you might put up assembly arrays to help, and to decrease construction time. --- Some days you are the pigeon, and some the statue. |
