Other fun things coming soon!
I really enjoyed the Somer "pink" shenanigans. I don't think I've had such a good laugh from the Somer Lotteries in-game channel ever... The morality of blinkers is surprisingly high, considering they're capsuleers
Also, I'm here to confirm that the "super" Velator is, indeed, super! Mine had an officer Heavy Cap Booster, Imp. Navy Neut and some other awesome stuff.
Thanks for running the site, thanks for providing the awesome channel for casual chit-chat and please explain why I can spend 3 hours logged into eve without actually doing anything except refreshing the Blink site, long after I should have gone to bed
In short; you're running an awesome site / service. Helps keep those not-so-exciting moments in eve exciting !

First off, I'd like to make it clear that I'm not affiliated with Somer Blink in any way (apart from spending an unhealthy amount of time on the site, that is).
However... I think I can provide a possible explanation as to why your credits have not appeared on the site.
Short version; Patch day. The problem is not on Blinks side.
Long version; Today was the scheduled deployment for Incustion 1.4 (which has been delayed until tomorrow) and the API servers seem to be going through somewhat of a 'rough time' the last few days. This is not new, it tends to happen during patch deployment in my experience. At least it's not the first time I've noticed it.
I would advise you to pop into the ingame chat channel and ask for a manual update from one of the employees, who usually hang around in there.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Somer I have a proposal for improvement (I apologise if this has been proposed before, I don't feel like reading 50+ pages of the thread): it should be easily visible whether one can play a promo or not. To this end I suggest two changes: 1) somewhere in the upper right corner, near the balance of Promo tickets, there should be a clear indication of status. It could be an icon with explanatory mouse-over text, possibly also indicating time when the promo time ends. 2) if one is not elligible to participate, the running promo should not display all the buttons and tickets. Instead it could be shown with the same box one sees after purchasing promo ticket - just a summary that there is a promo going on and how many tickets are still available. This would also free up some hamsters in your web and database server.
I believe this change would cause most people to play more frequently, ensuring increased revenue for Blink

Make it even more simple - don't display promos if you haven't played a regular blink in the last 48h. That would make people blink more often
Would it be possible to get more info about the upcoming "Blink Challenges"?? Sounds like fun...

You got it wrong; the main point of promos is to make people play, therefore they must be very visible...

Ello,
Possibly a really silly question, but I'm going to ask anyway, as I'm stumped ;) promo.blinks... do these just show up on the main page beside the other blinks when theres one active? Or do they go elsewhere?

I was just wondering if you had considered giving us promo tokens when we take the blink credit option as it would save us taking the isk buy out and redepositing. Even if you gave say 9 tokens for every 10 mil converted to blink credit. It might also cut down on the amount of preauth requests.

Edited by: The Newface on 07/04/2011 14:54:42 I have a question about the tokens you get. It seems to me that the amounts of tokens you get are kind of pointless, is it even possible to use all your tokens if you blink all day? I currently have 700! Tokens, granted I donĘt play blink all days but still..
Blink itself is a nice idea and nicely executed though, thumbs up

When they hold a bonk then you can use up as many tokens as you want.

Hmm... I'd love to buy additional promo tickets by spending an exponential number of promo tokens. (Maybe 1,2,4,8... or 1,5,25,125... or ever 1,10,100...)
They just accumulate too fast.

At least once monthly, we actually hold a special event that allows you to spend as many tokens as you want to win some really great kit. So hang on to 'em, they'll serve you well in the near future :)

Edited by: Ishina Fel on 14/04/2011 09:37:47 Just a minor suggestion regarding butan trivias...
I have noticed that the payout for a correct answer is at least 2 million and at most 50 million per person. Now, the last five trivias posted had the following payout values:
2.00 million 4.57 million 2.22 million 2.79 million 2.00 million
This seems an awful lot like it's constantly hugging the lower edge, no? Twice defaulted to minimum, another two times barely inches away from defaulting again, and even the highest payout is less than 10% of the theoretical maximum. Considering you give away multiple billion ISK in promos every day, it seems a bit disproportionate that the roughly once-a-week butan trivia (which is arguably harder than just buying into a promo) would be paying out such a novelty prize.
I think it is partly due to the fact that nowadays, a lot more people play blink than when the trivia was instated, and therefore, a lot more people get the answer right and need a share of the pot.
Suggestions: - You could run one or two promos less per week (nobody will even notice), and post the butan trivia with a much higher starting pot instead of the current 400-some million. Or whatever other figure makes sense in your internal balance. - Also (or alternatively), you could significantly up the bonus per blink completed during the butan uptime. That way the prize pot is augmented more steeply, somewhat counterbalancing the increasing number of correct answers over time.
Benefits for the player: - Makes the butan trivia more exciting! - More free credit to blink with!
Benefits for Somer.blink: - A promo won is paid out physically. The prize and its value is gone from your system. However, the butan trivia payout is in blink credit, therefore the entire pot stays in the system, and people will use it to play more blinks!

Ishina - That's a fair point. We'll talk it over and see if we need to reevaluate the butan value. It's a careful balance, as anyone can participate in Butan, but only actual customers can participate in promo Blinks. Still well worth looking into tuning though, I agree.
Originally by: Lucious Shakiel I don't know if this has been answered but if won a cap ship like a carrier or dread, where would it be delivered too?
We receive capships from several different suppliers, all of which sadly deliver to different systems. The ship would be delivered from whichever of those systems it's available at at the time. They're almost always within 1-2 jumps of highsec, though. :)
