Maybe if the player has deposited 100mill isk you can check if they have the achievement.

Edited by: Joss56 on 23/12/2010 21:11:33 I'm allways sad seeing people here saying "whaaa you can scam...boot..i lost" and lots of blah blah blah
I's an in game "game", like any other lottery and take a look at my char in blik page you'll see i'm far from being someone who wins a lot, very far even.
I don't even think i've already won what i've puted in, but it's a game, it's a matter of chance, sometimes you win sometimes you loose.
Stop playing it or stop crying but for sake, don't waste your time writing **** and paranoia posts.
Take a look at most of big winers, they spent more than they've won. Do they cry about it? no!

Blink is a well designed web application in which users deposit isk into a general account, which is then converted to blink credit. The blink credit can then be used to purchase tickets to prizes ranging from implants a skillbooks, to pirate ships and even capital ships. The prizes are either selected by you, or another blinker and when you win, (ive personally won 15 myself), you have several options, you can have your prized dropped delivered to a market hub for you to retrieve, or you can claim it as one of two types of currency, you can receive the value for the ship in isk, within 24 hours, or you can have it re-deposited back into your blink account with a 5% bonus to the buyout value.
Blink is favourable to conventional lotteries and raffles, in that generally they last a matter of minutes, meaning you dont have to wait for any contract to finish or to constantly moniter to make sure you havent been outbid, another incentive and one of my personal favorite features, is promo.blink, during which they put up a prize, ranging from pirate frigates to capital ships, and each player can buy a single ticket out of a much larger than average number for a single isk, the only requirement is that you have purchased a ticket to a non promo blink recently beforehand.
So the next time your wallet starts to feel a little heavy, toss some isk into blink and have some good natured fun.

Somer and company, Merry Christmas (or other holiday which you choose to celebrate), Thanks for hosting this grand service for those of us in EVE who enjoy having something on which to spend our (occasionally ill-gotten) isk other than the usual grind.
I've had my share of luck and failure so far in the Blinks, and made some extra game time out of my efforts so far. For the most part, it gives folks like me who have not much time to play a fair way to make (or lose) isk. Overall, blinking has proved to be a lot of fun and I've made a fair few isk through my "investments"--and lost a lot, as well, but that's the name of the game when it comes to gambling.
I've found that the game tends to be quite fair, even if I don't win all the time, and that after several hundred blinks, the game is statistically sound in terms of win:loss ratio, so I can't complain. If you do a lot of standard blinks, you will actually win 1/8 of the time, and everyone hits their win streak eventually; just don't expect it to happen as soon as you start playing. The achievements system also gives players the ability to keep going with gobs of bonus iskies as they play, and can stimulate the blink for a much-prolonged period if you slam into a lucky streak as you go.
Overall, I give it a very high rating in terms of lotteries: it's fast, effective, statistically sound, and Somer's boys and girls deliver promptly and on time when you're finally ready to get your goodies. If you want to win more often, be ready to dump more into a given blink; you WILL win at a rate roughly equivalent to your statistical investment (1/8 tickets = 1/8 win rate, 2/8 tickets = 1/4 win rate, etc). Don't be afraid to invest in things you want, but remember that you are still competing for goods!
Good luck to my fellow players, and keep up the good work, folks, Junkiloton

Blink is awesome. I've been playing it for quite a few months now, started a week or two after it opened for business. I've won so much stuff I can't even remember all of it. The biggest thing I've won is a Fenrir, I've also won stealth bombers, transport ships, command ships, etc all of which I cashed out and "took home". I'm up about 200m on blink, I've been closing that gap. While it's true you can't maintain a positive ISK ratio indefinately it's worth it. The fast pace makes it a lot funner than normal lotteries and the high you get from winning is invaluable.

Somer, I'm not sure if others have expressed any concerns over this issue or not, as I have not read every reply on your thread. Some friends and corpmates were chatting earlier tonight and brought up a very good point, so I figured I would bring it to your attention. On several occasions there are those who play blink that will severely tip the odds of a given blink in their favor by buying up a large percentage of the tickets. While this type of gambling is permitted on the site, there are some that feel it diminishes the spirit of the game itself. Although I will probably get flamed up one side and down the other for using this as an example, it is the easiest way to make my point. I'll use the same example that was given to me. Earlier tonight a Mackinaw blink was running where a single person bought 6 of the 8 tickets. At a ticket cost of 13.5 million, purchasing 6 equals a cost of 81 million and the isk payout value of the ship is only 85 million. While I cannot argue with the concept that it is up to the individual to decide how to spend their own money. It hardly seems fair (in the interest of preserving a level playing field) to the others playing when their chances are so greatly reduced. During the conversation one of the suggestions seemed somewhat viable so I agreed to pass it along, but refused to name the individual or mention some of the more colorful metaphors that were used. Since promo blinks are limited to insure fairness, why not implement a limitation on normal ones too (ie: each player is limited to purchasing no more than 25% of the total number of tickets (normal 8 ticket blink would have a 2 ticket limit, whereas a MegaBlink 16 ticket would have a 4 ticket limit per player.)) I myself would be very interested in seeing how the majority of the blink players felt about this and if it was an issue worth addressing. God knows I'd hate to sound like the sole voice of opposition. Many thanks to you Somer for hosting such a wonderful site and giving away so much to the Eve community. Sincerely, Nervalla Cythrill - Blinking since 10/2010

What you just said here makes no logical sense. The chances of winning with each ticket is the same for every ticket, period. This is the absolute definition of fair and level playing field. You could make an argument that the player buying up most of the tickets initially is preventing others from taking on a greater gamble, but this is not the same as reducing their chances or the fairness of the game. To reduce another player's chance or the fairness of the game, the player buying the bulk of the tickets must receive some sort of absolute advantage from the game such as a greater chance of winning per ticket.
However, you do have a point in that this may ruin some of the fun in the game. Everybody knows (or at least should know) that playing blink in the long-term is a guaranteed isk-losing proposition (just think casinos) by virtue of the fact that the total ticket price exceeds the item value significantly. So the reason people play is because of the excitement that comes from winning. If someone always buys up the bulk of the tickets initially and thus wins very frequently, I could see players beginning to feel that this isn't fun since they begin to truly feel the odds that are against them (if you have a lot of different players, this type of feeling isn't as prominent since you see a new player winning each time and you think: it could be me next). It's all psychological.

Sorry for the delay in claims today - with it being Christmas, we haven't had many folks on delivering/paying out prizes. But I checked, your claim is definitely in the queue, and will be paid out ASAP as we get back up to post-holiday business speed :)

Oh, man, I should totally not share this, but this link actually explains how to improve your chances at winning blinks (well...lotteries in general).
Now part of the article is not applicable, because in blinks, you never end up sharing a prize (2 people can't buy the same number in a single blink)...so you don't have to worry about avoiding commonly picked numbers...
But the FIRST part, dead on.
How to win the lottery (seriously)

Ugh...reading back a bit it would seem that my above post may have been inappropriate, as there are people who don't understand probability. As mentioned in a response to the post concerning fairness, each ticket in an 8 ticket blink has exactly 12.5% chance of being the winning ticket.
If you buy 1 ticket, I buy 1 ticket, and 6 other people each buy 1 ticket, you and I both have 12.5% chance that we will be the winner and 87.5% chance that we will NOT be the winner.
If you buy 1 ticket, and I buy 7 tickets, you STILL have a 12.5% chance that you will be the winner, and 87.5% chance that you will NOT be. I have increased my odds of winning to 87.5%, without changing yours at all.
But, since the price of 7 tickets is more than the value of the prize, it would be silly for me to do such a thing.
As for seeing the same people win over and over...the only...*sigh* - here's another link to the same site - another short, easy to read article - Law of large numbers
"An understanding of the law of the large numbers leads to a realisation that what appear to be fantastic improbabilities are not remarkable at all but, merely to be expected."
