Worth going to, or no. Mind you, I only have 3mil or so SP's, so I have a lot of other stuff to train up for effective PVP as well.

do the other stuff first. The 10 or 20% you get from overheating a module can be gained permanently by skills. Ie. increased speed from MWDs and ABs? train Navigation and Acceleration Control. Better armor repper cycles? train cap skills and armor repair systems to give you faster cycles and the cap to run them. etc.
Thermodynamics level 1 is fantastic for PvP, to give you the OPTION to overheat, sure you take fast heat damage, but at least you can GET the bonus. Going past level 1 is best saved for when your other skills are quite high, and you are already fitting T2 modules everywhere and are staring at 20-day training times for any upgrades.

At 30M sp, sure. At 3M sp, don't even consider it.

OK. I may learn one or two levels of it since it will be quick learns, but other than that I'll hold off then for more important things.
I can use a bunch of T2 stuff, and am working on engineering 5 now anyways (for the pg boost).
Someday I'll get into a T2 ship, but i don't want to waste the time or money on them until I am able to fly it effectively.

After you have most of the relevenat skills to 4 or 5 then you can go for it, but as mentioned before, you will get much more return on training time buffing up your core skills prior to thermo 5.
As a point of reference, I just finished training thermo 5 a few months back, and im sittin at 101 mil sps.

I just trained that skill to 5 and I started in 2006. So in short I agree to do it much later.

If you pvp a lot and overload much of the time, it can be worth it even at 3M SP.
