Gett a bit creative with your gang perparing extenisve bookmarks and mobile drag bubbles maybe sniper fits, or bomb squads and you can wreak some havoc and have a way to run or take cover when the wounded look for revenge. Of course, if you'd miss blob warefare by definition you'd sort of need to join a large goup.

World of Tanks brought down Atlas more than the Russians and their contractors, who in reality just had to walk into Detorid with a (admittedly impressive) supercap fleet and say "Tada! We're here, you can fark off now." You were right about them alienating everybody though. So much bitter-hate all round. I've come out of it, homeless, and with a new found respect for PL (apart from the classless-chestbeating), and new found dislike for -A-, who in our moment of deepest vulnerability decided to make any asset evacuation a turkey shoot (nice one guys). It's the natural order of alliances though. They come, they go and they rarely survive the leadership reaching end-game which is exactly what happened to Atlas. At the end, Bobby couldn't even get his kicks leeroying his titan to the CJ gate to DD frigates, and when your that jaded well, its over isn't it?

For as long as we can think, we have known that large numbers of people achieve more than small numbers or loners. I know this is a game blabla but it is one with rather harsh penalties for dieing (compared to other games) and people don't wanna die, they don't want to put their assets at risk to fight for survival. The easier it gets, the happier people are and thus, huge alliances/powerblocks/NAPfests, whatever you wanna call them, are the ones that emerge over time. Something will happen that makes them fall apart and the cycle starts again. I don't think it is possible to change the sov mechanics in such a way that a 50 man 0.0 'raiding/roaming' corp can compete with a whole community made up of 5000+ people.
