o/
Am about to move my new archon from the system that I have purchased it in to our base of operations and was wondering what would be the best travel fit?
I know a cloak is a good idea, but what else would you suggest?
Thanks in advance!

Warp core stabs Cap rechargers/relays Skip the tank, because if you are caught you'll die either way. You want your cap back up so you can jump to the next system.

Yeah, seriously... You shouldn't need a cloak, since you will be using the Jump drives to jump to either friendly POS (ideal) or a Station.
Cap rechargers so that you regenerate cap faster for the next jump.
You don't need a Fit, you need a number of friends who can light cynos equal to the number of jumps from your base.

Try to set your cynos near stations, so you won't need travel fit.

Here is the travel fit I used to use:
[Archon, Travel] Warp Core Stabilizer II Warp Core Stabilizer II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Capital Energy Transfer Array I Improved Cloaking Device II Large 'Vehemence' I Shockwave Charge Large 'Vehemence' I Shockwave Charge Large 'Vehemence' I Shockwave Charge
Large Capacitor Control Circuit I Large Capacitor Control Circuit I Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
1. You have to wait till 85% capacitor before you can jump, so the shorter that time, the better.
2. The energy trans I had in there to help alliance mates jump faster also.
3. The core stabs are there in case you get tackled. (worst case scenario)
4. The cloak is there in case you have to jump to a system with no station in it. (worst case scenario)
Really, you need to cyno within instant docking range to a station or a POS. You dont want to have to rely on luck, cloaks, and stabs.

1)Scout your route in advance. You want dead systems. Use dotlan maps to find out how busy a system is. Use the in game star map to see whats going on in systems around your planned jump system before you jump. Look for recent kill activity.
2) Make safe spots for your carrier in non station systems( it doesnt hurt to in station systems as well.)
3) Station systems have the advantage of cynoing to a dock for quick dock ups. You also will get help from station guns in low sec if attacked. The advantage of this, besides the obvious, is dock up and undock with full cap. Its a good idea to practice cyno location on sisi. Getting the wrong spots on the cyno will mess you up and cause a delay in docking/give someone the chance ot bump you off station. Also you want to stay away from the undock ramp. usually the top somewhere is good. personally i find dead systems to be safer than dock systems but some prefer the security of a dock.
4) You should have at least some members of your corp on standby or a few friends in the area. Though you have to be careful about spies.
5) You should fly it combat fitted with a good cloak. No triage mod. A decent combat fit archon should already have decent cap recharge ability and you dont want to sacrafice your ability to fight/tank to recharge cap a little faster. Cap recharge is what the cloak/ dock is for.
6) Other mods: warp stabs wont save you. Dont even bother fitting them. Carriers have 30 sec align time and are easy to bump. Inert stabs would be better but i would leave it combat fitted. If you dont run dual local cap armor reppers....i would. Your mids should pretty much be the same as combat, Though i have point on mine( fleet fitted though) in which case i would ditch that for cap recharge. Highs are the only real change i would make: 1 cloak, 2 Smartbombs( faction if you can) 2 nuets( faction if you can) or 3 nuets and 1 smartbomb. Make sure you have your full compliment of drones or close to it.
7)You want to retain your ability to fight. Just because your tackled/bump doesnt mean your going to die. Your not flying a freighter. You have a **** ton of drones and cap rep mods. A) You may be able to pop the tackler before help arrives B)Your Tank buys you time for friendlies to get to you. C) Being Combat fitted allows you to survive longer and help in your rescue. Both help your friends help you.You can effectively turn a "oh **** carrier tackled" into a "small gang with carrier support"
8) It takes some firepower to eat through a carriers tank. The first 3k DPS will need to break your tank as well as chew through 1.4 mil-ish buffer. A 5 man gang will run about 2k-5k dps depending on make up and its closer to 3k than 5k. You should live at least 10 minutes if tackled worst case scenerio which buys you time for help/ killing off attackers. If not your scouting failed because their was a decent size roaming gang nearby. In any case dont write off your carrier as soon as you get tackled.

Light cynos 10km physical off stations. Do this at stations that show you are still within docking range so you can dock shortly after cynoing in without moving.

Why fit cap?
You should be jumping almost exclusively to station systems, where you can instadock and refill immediately.
If you're forced to jump to a system w/o a station, get a better alliance (or one closer to empire) AND just fit a cloak.
Keep your tank. YOu'd be surprised what a normal carrier can do vs. a standard gang. Fit ECCM in the mids. Don't forget a sensor booster, in case you get damped. (should have one anyway) ----------------- Friends Forever |

I know it kinda seems like a fail fit but if youre using POS's and you have a friendly guardian or two, you can be capped up in no time.
