So I decided that while I was waiting for my t3 skills to train up, I would go exploring in an ishtar. After finding a WH (class 2), I hopped into it, explored around, found another one (class 1), went into it, ran some sites, and logged for the night. Then this morning, I came back, and tried scanning down the entire system. I was able to find everything except one WH, and thats the only one I see on my probes.
When I try to scan down this WH, the best I have managed to do is pin it down with 90% accuracy. I have been unable to find more WH's, or further pin down this particular one, so I have a few questions.
First, isn't unknown space generally supposed to have more than 1 WH? Second, what skills are most important to train up when trying to pin down that WH? I currently have astrometrics 4, astrometric rangefinding, pinpointing, and aquisition all at 3. Since training any one of those up will take me 3 days, I'm looking for the one that will have the biggest impact right now to allow me to pin down that exit.

More scan strength is what you need, so the skill would be Astrometric Rangefinding.
Wormhole systems I think are only guaranteed to have one wormhole out. They may have others, but then again they may not!
Start the skill training, but check every day, you may well get another wormhole spawn.

#1 rule: Always check info on the w-hole before going through it. Don't want to have it despawn right after you use it.
#2 rule: Always bookmark the location of the worm hole after you go through it. That's your exit point.
#3 rule: Always plan for and expect the worst case scenario. Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance.
You will always have at least 1 active w-hole in the worm system. Should have all the probing skills trained at least to level 4. Astrometric Rangefinding is probably the most important with Astrometric Pinpointing next. Also having the best equipment makes things a lot easier such as Sisters Probe Launcher and Sisters Core Probes, Gravity Capacitor Upgrade rigs, Hardwiring - Poteque Pharmaceuticals 'Prospector' PPH series implants, etc.

Edited by: Daneel Trevize on 22/08/2010 22:09:27 Try 4 probes, tetrahedron (don't forget the 3rd dimention), minimum radius setting, overlapping as much as possible while still not 4 intersecting red result spheres, with rescans to see where the yellow spot deviates around to recenter your setup. |

I use 5 probe scanning pattern, just like the ccp video. I have not had problems scanning down wh.

The other alternative is that a new one may spawn for you in a few days

If there's only 1 WH in the system, that's the static exit. It will always be the same type of WH and always have the same signal strength, so you'll either have to scan it down or wait for a different WH to spawn.
For the best scan strength, you want a probe directly on top of the yellow dot, set to minimum distance. The locations of the other probes aren't critical, they're just providing position information. In other words, the scan strength is determined by the highest scan strength of any 1 probe.
